Energy and emission properties of burley tobacco stalk briquettes and its combinations with other biomass as promising replacement for coal

AB  - As a tobacco producer, Serbia has to deal with large amounts of leftover tobacco stalks after harvesting. One option for this type of biomass is to burn it, but burning is not encouraged in Serbia, since the levels of its combustion products have not been investigated yet. The aim of this study was therefore to determine the elemental composition, ash and nicotine content, heat values, and composition of gaseous combustion products of tobacco stalk briquettes and to see if their mixing with other types of biomass available in Serbia could improve their ecological profile. We made 11 different types of briquettes: six of pure raw materials, including burley tobacco stalks, sunflower head remains, wheat straw, corncob, soy straw, and beech sawdust and five by mixing tobacco stalks with these other raw materials in a 50:50 mass ratio. All briquettes meet the ecological criteria regarding the emission limits for nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulphur dioxide, carbon monoxide, and carbon dioxide. Nicotine content in flue gases (<10 mg/kg) is far below the maximum level allowed by the European Union. Heat values of all biomass samples are acceptable, although lower than those specified for solid biofuels (≥16.0 MJ/kg), save for corncob and beech sawdust and their mixtures with tobacco stalks. PRIMENA STABLJIKA DUVANA TIPA BERLEJ I PROCENA DOPRINOSA ISKORIŠĆENJU POLJOPRIVREDNE BIOMASE U SRBIJI

AB  - Činjenica da stabljike duvana, kao biomasa, nisu bile predmet sistematičnih istraživanja, posebno ne na našem prostoru, su krucijalni razlog i opravdanje posvećivanju pažnje ovoj vrsti biomase.
Eksperimentalna istraživanja ove disertacije su sprovedena na šest različitih oblika biomase: stabljikama duvana tipa Berlej sa lokaliteta Šapca, pšeničnoj slami i oklascima kukuruza sa lokaliteta Stare Pazove, sojinim stabljikama i ostacima glava suncokreta sa lokaliteta Golubinaca i piljevini drveta bukve, koja je preuzeta kao ostatak nakon mehaničke obrade drveta. 
Izvršeno je određivanje osnovnih agrohemijskih parametara zemljišta a na svim uzorcima biomasa urađene su analize hemijskog sastava, toplotne moći i produkata sagorevanja. Za prikaz meteoroloških uslova lokaliteta korišćeni su podaci Republičkog hidrometeorološkog zavoda Srbije (RHMZ) Srbije. Za potrebe pogonskog ispitivanja napravljeni su briketi od svih ispitivanih oblika biomase, bez dodavanja vezivnih sredstava. 
Prema hemijskom sastavu duvanska stabljika je u rangu sa pšeničnom slamom, boljih karakteristika u odnosu na sojine stabljike i naročito na ostatke glava suncokreta. Elementarnom analizom stabljika duvana utvrđeno je najmanje sadržaja C i najviše N u odnosu na ostale biomase (i do 5 puta više). Količina nikotina u dimnom gasu (< 10 ppm) je daleko ispod vrednosti zahteva Evropske unije. Vrednost toplotne moći duvanskih stabljika ne odstupa značajno od ostalih poljoprivrednih biomasa. Svi uzorci se nalaze se u granicama vrednosti regulisanih Uredbom o graničnim vrednostima emisija zagađujućih materija u vazduh, prema količini emitovanih C i N oksida.
Na osnovu svih iznetih rezultata i poređenja sa karakteristikama ostalih ispitivanih oblika biomase, stabljike duvana tipa Berlej mogu imati upotrebnu vrednost kao biogorivo i sa energetskog i sa ekološkog aspekta.
AB  - The crucial reason and justification for focusing on tobacco stalks as biomass is the fact that it was not a scope of systematic research, especially not in our region. In this dissertation, experimental analysis of six various forms of biomass was performed: Burley type tobacco stalks from the Sabac region, wheat straw and corn cobs from the Stara Pazova region, soybean stalks and the remnants of sunflower heads from the Golubinac region, and beech sawdust obtained as remnants after lumber production. Fundamental agrochemical parameters of soil were determined and furthermore the analysis of chemical composition, calorific power, and products of combustion were determined for each sample of biomass as well. Data obtained from the RHMI of Serbia were used to present meteorological conditions for each corresponding locality. Briquettes of all types of biomass were made with no binder additives for the purpose of operational testing. Tobacco stalks are found to be similar in chemical composition to wheat straw and they possess better properties than soybean stalks and especially remnants of sunflower heads. Elemental analysis of tobacco stalks reveals the lowest content of C and the highest content of N (even up to 5 times greater content of nitrogen) compared to all other samples of biomass. Content of nicotine in flue gases (< 10 ppm) is far below the maximum level allowed by the European Union. Calorific power value of tobacco stalks is in range with other agricultural types of biomasses. According to the amounts of C and N oxides emitted, all samples fall in the range defined by the Regulation on the limit values for emissions of air pollutants. Based on all presented results and comparisons with characteristics of other investigated forms of biomass, Burley type tobacco stalks can be useful as biofuel considering both the energy efficiency and ecological aspect.

EFFECT OF DRYING MODE ON THE CHANGES OF VIRGINIA TOBACCO TYPE CHEMICAL COMPOSITION

AB  - Virginia type of tobacco is used in the highest percentage in the mixture for making
cigarettes. Important factors for the formation of quality features of Virginia are
environmental conditions of manufacturing but preferably the well regulated drying process.
Drying of these tobacco types is performed in special dryers with controlled conditions (flue
curing-FC). Since the price of energy source for drying process participate the greatest deal in
total expenses during the production and processing of tobacco, the scope of the experiment
was to determine the possibilities of drying tobacco in a natural condition (air curing-AC).
Material for research the first-class middle leaves of Virginia tobacco type, variety Heveshi -
9, were produced in Vojvodina area (Srem - Maradik), vintage 2015.
The experimental results showed that the way of drying affects the appearance and color of
leaves, chemical characteristics of tobacco and duration of the drying process. Considerable
differences of chemical composition between flue curing and air curing tobacco were found as
follows (% in dry matter): 2.03 and 2.25 (nicotine), 1.80 and 2.73 (total N), 0.87 and 2.06
(protein N), 5.46 and 6.60 (total proteins), 19.39 and 1.96 (reducing sugars), 11.61 and 15.43
(ash), 1.48 and 8.91 (sand), 5.19 and 5.92 (pH), respectively. The leaves dried in natural
condition (AC) had dark color (dark Virginia) and rough nervature. Although drying in a
natural condition brings cost savings in energy, the process is longer by 24 days comparing to
flue curing.

Variability of seed traits of fertile and sterile variants of the maize hybrid combination ZP 434

AB  - The introduction of sterile forms of parental inbreds in the production of hybrids maize seed has led to the improvement of production methods and to the facilitation of seed crop control. The aim of the present study was to compare utility values of the F1 generation between seeds produced by the use of standard inbreds and seeds produced from plants with cytoplasmic male sterility inherited maternally. Significant differences were detected in all observed traits compared to the version of the hybrid combination. The share of large seed fractions was higher in the fertile than in the sterile version, while the SR to SF ratio was uniform in the sterile version. The weight of 1000-seed was greater in the sterile form (325.7 g), while the first count and germination were equal amounting to 97.2 %. The first count (95.7 %) and germination (94.5 %) were also high in the fertile version.
AB  - U proizvodnji hibridnog semena kukuruza najvažniji zadatak je proizvodnja kvalitetnog semenskog materijala. Jedna od mera u toku oplodnje semenskog kukuruza je zakidanje metlica. To je težak i odgovoran posao koji iziskuje puno vremena i angažovanje velikog broja radnika uz kontrolu stručnih lica. Uvođenjem sterilnih formi roditeljskih linija u dobijanju semenske robe hibrida kukuruza unapredila se tehnologija proizvodnje i omogućilo lakšu kontrolu semenskih useva. Cilj rada je da se uporede kvalitativne osobine F1 generacije između semena koje je dobijeno upotrebom standardnih linija i semena čija roditeljska komponenta majke ima osobinu citoplazmatične muške sterilnosti. Poređene su: masa 1000 semena, enerija klijanja, klijavost i frakcioni sastav. Značajne razlike utvrđene su kod svih posmatranih osobina u odnosu na verziju hibridne kombinacije. Fertilna verzija u odnosu na sterilnu imala je veće učešće krupnih frakcija, dok je kod sterilne ujednačen odnos SO i SP. Masa 1000 semena veća je kod sterilne forme 325 7g, kao i energija i klijavost koje su u oba slučaja 97,2%. Fertilna verzija je takođe imala visoke vredenosti energije (95,7%) i klijavosti semena(94,5%). Veću varijabilnost u ispoljavanju kvalitativnih osobina semena ispoljila je fertilna varijanta hibridne kombinacije. Dobijene razlike u ispoljavanju fizičko-mehaničkih osobina u korist sterilne verzije opravdavaju uvođenje u semensku proizvodnju hibrida sa citoplazmatičnom muškom sterilnošću.

The aim of the present study was to compare utility values of the F1 generation between seeds produced by the use of standard inbreds and seeds produced from plants with cytoplasmic male sterility inherited maternally. Significant differences were detected in all observed traits compared to the version of the hybrid combination. The share of large seed fractions was higher in the fertile than in the sterile version, while the SR to SF ratio was uniform in the sterile version. The weight of 1000-seed was greater in the sterile form (325.7 g), while the first count and germination were equal amounting to 97.2 %. The first count (95.7 %) and germination (94.5 %) were also high in the fertile version., U proizvodnji hibridnog semena kukuruza najvažniji zadatak je proizvodnja kvalitetnog semenskog materijala. Jedna od mera u toku oplodnje semenskog kukuruza je zakidanje metlica. To je težak i odgovoran posao koji iziskuje puno vremena i angažovanje velikog broja radnika uz kontrolu stručnih lica. Uvođenjem sterilnih formi roditeljskih linija u dobijanju semenske robe hibrida kukuruza unapredila se tehnologija proizvodnje i omogućilo lakšu kontrolu semenskih useva. Cilj rada je da se uporede kvalitativne osobine F1 generacije između semena koje je dobijeno upotrebom standardnih linija i semena čija roditeljska komponenta majke ima osobinu citoplazmatične muške sterilnosti. Poređene su: masa 1000 semena, enerija klijanja, klijavost i frakcioni sastav. Značajne razlike utvrđene su kod svih posmatranih osobina u odnosu na verziju hibridne kombinacije. Fertilna verzija u odnosu na sterilnu imala je veće učešće krupnih frakcija, dok je kod sterilne ujednačen odnos SO i SP. Masa 1000 semena veća je kod sterilne forme 325 7g, kao i energija i klijavost koje su u oba slučaja 97,2%. Fertilna verzija je takođe imala visoke vredenosti energije (95,7%) i klijavosti semena(94,5%). Veću varijabilnost u ispoljavanju kvalitativnih osobina semena ispoljila je fertilna varijanta hibridne kombinacije. Dobijene razlike u ispoljavanju fizičko-mehaničkih osobina u korist sterilne verzije opravdavaju uvođenje u semensku proizvodnju hibrida sa citoplazmatičnom muškom sterilnošću.",

The experiment was conducted at the experimental farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, under natural conditions, in the open, during the three months period. The nicotine content in the samples was determined by a HPLC method. At the beginning of the experiment, the nicotine content in the tobacco waste was 17 363 mg/kg. By adding sheep and chicken droppings, nicotine content decreased by 66,5%. At the end of the research, nicotine content was dropped below 10 mg/kg in both experimental samples. The results confirmed that the organic material, sheep and chicken manure, can be successfully used for composting tobacco waste, primarily in order to reduce the nicotine content. Composting can be done in the open air and on the site where the waste is made, thereby it reduces energy costs, and what's the most important - the costs of transport.

AB  - The reduction of world`s fossil fuel reserves, as well as concern environmental pollution,
encourages the use of renewable energy sources. In the Republic of Serbia, biomass from
agriculture represents a significant energy potential. The aim of this paper was to examine the
possibility of using tobacco stalks as biofuels, considering that each year, after the harvest of
leaves, about 70 000 tons of stalks from all tobacco types remains in the fields. The material used
in this study were Burley tobacco stalks, sawdust from beech wood and wheat straw, which were
chosen due to the fact that they are already in use as biofuel. In the first part of the experiment the
ash content in all samples was determined, which is used to predict the higher heating value
(HHV). The HHV as a function of ash content (ash, wt %) was calculated using the equation by
Sheng and Azevedo. The experimental determination of the calorific value of all samples in a
calorimetric bomb was conducted in the second part of the study. Based on predicted (18208.18
kJ/kg) and experimentally determined HHV of tobacco stalks (17504.44 kJ/kg), as well as
comparisons with other forms of biomass, it was concluded that Burley tobacco stalks can be
used as biofuel. Experimental values of tobacco stalks are only 9% lower in relation to HHV of
beech sawdust. Tobacco stalks and wheat straw have the approximate values of HHV.

AB  - Most of the recent studies, performed in order to estimate the potential value of biomass for energy production, were done on common biomass resources such as corn, wheat, sunflower, barley and oats. Although tobacco stalks are rarely or almost not used for this purpose, according to their chemical composition and heating value, they can be classified as non-toxic agricultural waste, which makes them a renewable energy source. According to the statistics in agricultural production, Serbia has a great potential in tobacco stalks which are treated as agricultural waste and they are not used for energetic purposes. This paper deals with two common types of large leaves tobacco stalks in this region; Virginia and Burley, as a potential renewable energy source. The heating values were calculated according to the elemental chemical composition and lignin content, and compared with other known agricultural waste. Various equations for high heating value calculation were taken in account in order to present tobacco stalks as renewable energy source. Results of analysis showed good agreement of tobacco stalks heating values in comparison with other crops, and does not deviate significantly from other agricultural waste.

AB  - Examined the content of the methanol extract routines MeOH dried buckwheat leaves were collected from several sites in the full flowering of plants. Extracts were prepared by healing with return cooler with the addition of methanol p.a. After extraction was performed filtration of extracts, prepared in such extracts was determined by the content of routine HPLC analysis method kvantotativne using external standards (rutin) over the calibration curve. Fagopyri herba drug is described in European Pharmacopceia VI as well as routine alanytical procedure content (Ph.Eur.6.0). Routine biennial examination content in leaves of buckwheat and collection of samples included four sites - Valjevo, Pancevo, Kucevo (Velika Plana) and Surduk. For the purposes of this study was selected local variety of buckwheat dove was grown in the system optimal mineral nutrition of plants with the addition of NPK nutrients hydrogel and zeolite to bind water in the surface layers of soil and prevent its evaporation loss.
The content is varied routines and locations. At least it was routine in the locality listovima buckwheat. Surduk 2.78% and most of the experiments in Kucevo in Petrovac 3.71%. Isolated extraction procedure, routine use in the pharmaceutical and food industries.

Analysis of cellulose content in stalks and leaves of large leaf tobacco

AB  - Tobacco stalks are an under-utilized material that remains after the harvest of leaves. Given the share of large leaf tobacco in total production in Serbia (more than 85%) stalks could be easily available as well as payable raw material in the fabrication of cellulose. The aim of this study was to determine cellulose content in leaves and more importantly in stalks of large leaf tobacco and to provide necessary data to processors engaged in processing of biomass. Stalks and leaves of two types of tobacco, Burley and Virginia, reared in Srem, were used as experimental material samples. Two parallel methods were applied for determining cellulose content: method by Kürschner-Hanack and method by Updegraff. It can be concluded that both methods are applicable to tobacco, but the method by Kürschner-Hanack was found to be simpler, more convenient, faster and economically more cost-effective. Thus, it should be recommended for use. Results showed that stalks of large leaf tobacco contain on average 30.50% to 34.30% of cellulose. There was no statistically significant difference in the cellulose content between the two applied methods. Given the number of plants that lag behind in fields after harvesting leaves, 28,000 tons of cellulose could be used.

Obzirom na udeo krupnolisnih duvana u ukupnoj proizvodnji duvana u Srbiji (preko 85%), stabljike mogu predstavljati lako dostupnu i isplatljivu sirovinu u fabrikaciji celuloze. Cilj ovih eksperimentalnih istraživanja bio je određivanje sadržaja celuloze u listovima i pre svega u stabljikama krupnolisnih duvana, radi pružanja neophodnih podataka prerađivačima koji se bave preradom biomase. Kao materijal za istraživanje korišćeni su uzorci stabljika i listova dva tipa duvana, Berlej i Virdžinija, gajenih na području Srema. Primenjene su dve uporedne metode za određivanje sadržaja celuloze: metoda po Kürschner- Hanack-u i metoda po Updegraff-u. Može se zaključiti da su korišćene metode primenljive na duvan, s tim što je metoda po Kürschner-Hanack-u bila jednostavnija, praktičnija, brža i ekonomski isplatljivija, tako da se može preporučiti za rad. Rezultati istraživanja su pokazali da stabljike krupnolisnih duvana sadrže prosečno 30,50% do 34,30% celuloze. Listovi su imali značajno manje celuloze (16,00-17,20%). U odnosu na stabljike ova vrednost je manja za preko 50%. Razlike u sadržaju celuloze u zavisnosti od primenjene metode, nisu bile statistički značajne. Obzirom na broj stabljika koji zaostaje na njivama nakon berbe listova, moguće je iskoristiti 28000 tona celuloze.

It can be concluded that both methods are applicable to tobacco, but the method by Kürschner-Hanack was found to be simpler, more convenient, faster and economically more cost-effective. Thus, it should be recommended for use. Results showed that stalks of large leaf tobacco contain on average 30.50% to 34.30% of cellulose. There was no statistically significant difference in the cellulose content between the two applied methods. AB  - The vitamin folate enables cell division and tissue growth. Folate is found only small amounts in wheat, and in higher levels in a variety of fruits, vegetables, andiegumes. AB  - Dvogodišnja istraživanja uticaja prihranjivanja malim količinama azota i vremena kosidbe na ukupan porast biljaka sirka i sudanske trave izvedena su u agroekološkim uslovima Radmilovca. Objekat istraživanja bile su sorta sudanske trave Zora i hibridni sirak Siloking. Eksperimentalna polja bila su raspoređena po planu slučajnog blok sistema. Kontrolna varijanta je bez prihranjivanja, a varijanta sa prihranjivanjem sa 50 kg/ha. Kosidba je obavljena u dva roka, i to pred početak metličenja biljaka i u fazi punog metličenja. Rezultati su pokazali da prihranjivanje manjim količinama azota povoljno utiče na porast vegetativne biomase u prvom otkosu, ali ne i u kasnijim otkosima kod sudanske trave, dok kod sirka nije azot nije uticao na ispitivane faktore. S druge strane, vreme kosidbe nije značajno uticalo na vegetativnu biomasu, ali jeste na prosečnu visiu stabla i ukupnu suvu materiju biljaka. Na efekat upotrebljenog azota, značajno su uticali meteorološki uslovi tokom vegetacionog perioda, posebno režim padavina.

AB  - Predmet istraživanja u ovom radu bila su četiri hibrida kukuruza: ZP 434, ZP 599, ZP 684 i ZP 704, iz proizvodne godine 2006. sa različitih ekoloških proizvodnih područja : Srem, Bačka i Banat. Seme je pre ispitivanja čuvano u magacinu u nekontrolisanim skladišnim uslovima. Ispitivanje kvalitativnih osobina semena (klijavost, energija klijanja,vlaga, masa 1000 semena i čistoća) izvedena je ISTA metodom u prvoj, drugoj i trećoj godini čuvanja.
Rezultati istraživanja pokazuju da čuvanjem u nekontrolisanim uslovima značajno opada energija klijanja, kao i ukupna klijavost semena. Variranje vlage semena i mase 1000 semena nisu bila statistički značajna. Intenzitet promena ispitivanih parametara zavisio je od hibrida, ali i od područja proizvodnje semenskog kukuruza.

AB  - The aim of the present study, carried out in the laboratory in 2007, was to observe effects of different temperature conditions on sunflower (Helianthus annuus) seed germination. The four French hybrids Alvaro RM (very early to early), Altesse RM (early to medium early), Alium (medium early) and Albatre (medium early to medium late) were used as a material in this study. The investigations were performed according to the National Regulations of Seed Quality of Agricultural Plants and the international ISTA Rules, to be more accurate, a standard filter paper method at three temperatures was used: alternating temperature of 20-30°C, constant temperature of 20oC and constant temperature of 25°C. According to obtained results the hybrid Alvaro RM had the best germination viability and the total germination at 20oC and 25oC, respectively. The hybrid Altesse RM had the best germination viability and the total germination at 25°C, while the remaining two hybrids had the corresponding values at alternating temperatures of 20-30°C. The gained results point out that studied sunflower hybrids had different temperatures of germination viability and total germination.
AB  - Cilj istraživanja je uticaj različitih temperaturnih uslova na klijanje semena suncokreta (Helianthus annuus) izvedenih u laboratorijskim uslovima u toku 2007. godine. U ovom radu korišćena su četri francuska hibrida suncokreta: Alvaro RM (veoma rani do rani), Altesse RM (rani do srednje rani), Alium (srednje rani) i Albatre (srednje rani do srednje kasni). Istraživanja su rađena prema domaćem Pravilniku o kvalitetu semena poljoprivrednog bilja i međunarodnim ISTA Pravilima, tačnije korišćena je standardna metoda između filter papira na tri temperature: naizmenična 20-30°C, konstantna 20oC i konstantna 25°C. Prema dobijenim rezultatima Alvaro RM ima najbolju energiju klijanja na 20°C, a ukupnu klijavost na 25°C. Altesse RM ima najbolju energiju klijanja i ukupnu klijavost na 25°C, dok druga dva hibrida Alium i Albatre imaju najbolju energiju i ukupnu klijavost na naizmeničnoj temperaturi 20-30°C. Rezultati ovog istraživanja pokazali su da ispitivani hibridi suncokreta imaju različite temperature energije klijanja i ukupne klijavosti.

Istraživanja su rađena prema domaćem Pravilniku o kvalitetu semena poljoprivrednog bilja i međunarodnim ISTA Pravilima, tačnije korišćena je standardna metoda između filter papira na tri temperature: naizmenična 20-30°C, konstantna 20oC i konstantna 25°C. Prema dobijenim rezultatima Alvaro RM ima najbolju energiju klijanja na 20°C, a ukupnu klijavost na 25°C. Altesse RM ima najbolju energiju klijanja i ukupnu klijavost na 25°C, dok druga dva hibrida Alium i Albatre imaju najbolju energiju i ukupnu klijavost na naizmeničnoj temperaturi 20-30°C. Rezultati ovog istraživanja pokazali su da ispitivani hibridi suncokreta imaju različite temperature energije klijanja i ukupne klijavosti.",

AB  - Izvršeno je ispitivanje sastava etarskog ulja perikarpa, masnog ulja semena, antioksidantne i antimikrobne aktivnosti ploda lovora, Laurus nobilis L., Lauraceae. Plod lovora je prikupljen sa tri jedinke u Herceg Novom. Analiza etarskog ulja perikarpa ploda i masnog ulja semena izvršene su gasno hromatografskim metodama ( GC/FID, GC/MSD). Perikarp (37,1-40,0% ploda) je sadržao 0,28-0,30% etarskog ulja, u kome su bili glavni sastojci 1,8- cineol (61,1-75,0%), 2- udekanon (3,6-7.2%), alfa -terpinolen ( 2,3-2,6%) i trans-beta-ocimen (0,6-6,4%). Seme je sadržalo 26, 1- 28,8% masnog ulja. Najzastupljenije masne kiseline u svim uzorcima su bile laurinska kiselina (51,8-548%), oleinska (16,9-18,0%) i linolna (14,5-16,9%). Visok sadržaj laurinske kiseline svrstava ulje semena lovora u ulja laurinskog tipa.
Upoređivanjem delovanja etarskog ulja perikarpša i etarskog ulja lista lovora, može se uočiti izraženija antibmikrobna aktivnost etarskog ulja perikarpa ploda.

AB  - Production of occidental type of tobacco seedlings (Barley and Virginia) in our country, so far has been organized in traditional way. It considered tobacco seedlings production in semi hot hotbed, which has been heated with manure. Tobacco seedlings' production in qualitatively new way considers seed sowing in Todd's systems. The goal of this kind of researches is to compare these two ways of seedlings' production in economic way, i.e. determination of production's total costs when product is produced by traditional and by modern way, in Todd's systems.
AB  - Dosadašnja proizvodnja rasada okcidentalnih tipova duvana Berley i Virdžinija u našoj zemlji bila je organizovana na klasični (tradicionalni) način. To je podrazumevalo proizvodnju rasada duvana u polutoplim lejama koje su zagrevane stajnjakom. Proizvodnja rasada duvana na savremeni način podrazumeva setvu semena u Todovim ćelijama. Cilj ovih istraživanja je poređenje ova dva načina proizvodnje rasada sa ekonomskog stanovišta, odnosno utvrđivanje ukupnih troškova proizvodnje na dosadašnji, tradicionalni i savremeni način u Todovim ćelijama.

AB  - This paper deals with effect of two temperature regimes on two seed fractions (flat and round) and four fractions of seed size (small, medium small, medium large and large) of two sweet corn hybrids, ZP SC 401su and ZP SC 504su. Following morphological physiological characteristics, i.e. dry seed before germination (m0), whole dry seed after germination (ms), dry endosperm after germination (me), dry seedling after germination and dry weight loss during the germination and total germination were determined before germination on different temperatures t1-20/30oC (16/8 h) and t2-10oC (eight days). Results show that seeds of different fractions had different germination speed under different temperature regime. In addition, hybrids were also affected by modified temperature conditions. According to these findings, a dynamic of successive sweet corn sowing could be determined.

Pre ispitivanja klijavosti na temperaturnim vrednostima t1-20/300C (naizmenično 16/8 časova) i t2-100Cconst (osam dana) određene su mu sledeće morfološko-fiziološke osobine: suvo seme pre klijanja (m0), suvo celo seme posle klijanja (ms), suvi endosperm posle klijanja (me), suva klica posle klijanja (mk) i gubitak suve mase pri klijanju (Δm) i ukupna klijavost. Dobijeni rezultati pokazuju da semena različitih frakcija različito reaguju brzinom klijanja u izmenjenim toplotnim uslovima. Pored toga, i hibridi su, takođe, različito reagovali na pojedine toplotne tretmane. Na osnovu ovih saznanja može se odrediti i dinamika sukcesivne setve kukuruza šećerca.

AB  - The purpose of these tests is an attempt to contribute to new technology of plantlet (Todd's Cells) in mass production for developing economical, safer and quality tobacco production. The study includes two ways of plantlet production and three varieties of Virginia Species Tobacco. The results of parallel testing of tobacco production obtained from plantlets of different origins have shown that the new way of breeding has many advantages. Todd's Cells plantlet was ready for transplantation earlier and it reached the technological maturity in the open field earlier than usual. The time necessary for leaves drying was shorter in 12 hours and so the later processings (redrying, cigarettes production) were done in a shorter time. The plants in the field were more resistant to disease agents because Todd's Cells plantlets had easier adjusted to the environmental conditions. Tobacco leaf yield from Todd's Cells was significantly higher than from the traditionally produced plantlet. Raw material quality was also better. At the end. it is important to line out that the different plantlet production methods of different varieties reacted differently to yield and raw tobacco material quality.
AB  - Cilj ovih istraživanja je pokušaj da se nova tehnologija gajenja rasada (Todove ćelije) uvede u masovnu proizvodnju radi ostvarivanja ekonomične, sigurne i kvalitetne proizvodnje duvana. Proučavanja su obuhvatila dva načina proizvodnje rasada i tri sorte duvana tipa Virdžinija. Rezultati uporednih istraživanja proizvodnje duvana dobijenog iz rasada različitog porekla pokazali su da novi postupak gajenja u zaštićenom prostoru ima niz prednosti. Rasad iz Todovih ćelija ranije je stasao za presađivanje tako da je i u polju pre dostigao tehnološku zrelost. Sušenje listova bilo je kraće za 12 časova pa su i kasniji postupci prerade (ridraing, proizvodnja cigareta) izvedeni za kraće vreme. Biljke su u polju bile otpornije na uzročnike bolesti jer se rasad iz Todovih ćelija lakše prilagodio uslovima spoljne sredine. Prinos listova duvana bio je signifikantno veći iz rasada Todovih ćelija nego iz tradicionalno proizvedenog rasada. Kvalitet sirovine bio je, takođe. veći. Na kraju, treba istaći da su i sorte različito reagovale prinosom i kvalitetom duvanske sirovine na načine proizvodnje rasada.

AB  - This paper deals with effects of application of new seedling technology for production by using hidroponics - Todd cells. It is known that growing conditions affect characteristics of tobacco with aim to preserve morphological and physiological characteristics of tobacco already used in processing it is necessary to introduce certain standards in young plants production. The experiment was designed as split-plot system with four replications. Plant material of tobacco of Virginia type was cultivar Hevesi-9 (Hungarian) and two ways of seedling technology: Traditional and Hidroponics - Todd cells. Tobacco seedlings were transplanted by using four rows planting machine; plant spacing was 70 x 50 cm. Standard agrotechnical measures were undertaken during growth period. The yield and quality (chemical, and organoleptic characteristics, and degustation marks) of middle leaves were determined. Results showed that new technology makes growth period shorter in general. Differences occurred between two seedling technologies: the highest dry leaf yield was recorded at hidroponics-Todd cells (2,510 kg/ha), that was higher than yield at traditional seedling technology for 14,7%. Cv. Hevesi-9 had the best chemical characteristic as well. This is why this new seedling technology cultivar could be recommended to producers. .
AB  - Uvođenjem sorti okcidentalnog tipa proizvodnja duvana značajno se kvalitativno promenila. Najvažnija promena je u sistemu gajenja rasada u potpuno kontrolisanim uslovima. Tako je tradicionalna proizvodnja na zemljištu, kao supstratu, u zaštićenom prostoru zamenjena gajenjem rasada u specijalnim čašicama napunjenim dezinfikovanim hranljivim supstratom. Ovaj sistem gajenja u bazenima sa hranljivom podlogom po kojoj plivaju čašice smeštene u polistirenske nosače nazvan je po autoru Todove ćelije. Rezultati ovih istraživanja pokazali su da je duvan dobijen iz rasada u Todovim ćelijama ranije dospeo u tehnološku zrelost i uz značajno povećanje ukupnog prinosa listova. Istovremeno, kvalitet listova duvana bio je veći tako da su oni imali veću upotrebnu vrednost u fabrikaciji cigareta. Novi način proizvodnje rasada duvana, i pored većih ulaganja u podizanje objekata, opravdava povećane troškove kroz veći prinos listova, većeg kvaliteta, skraćen vegetacioni period biljaka na otvorenom polju i raniji početak berbe. Pored toga, rasad iz Todovih ćelija dao je biljke otpornije na uzročnike bolesti pa je potreba za hemijskom zaštitom bila manja. Sorta Heveši-9 ispoljila je u području istočnog Srema odlične produktivne karakteristike i može se preporučiti proizvođačima duvana. .

UTICAJ FUNGICIDA Vitavax-200FF NA KLIJAVOST SEMENA KUKURUZA

AB  - U radu je proučavan uticaj fungicidnog preparata Vitavax-200 FF na klijavost semena kukuruza hibrita ZP TC 404. Eksperimentima je obuhvaćeno nekoliko frakcija semena koje su se razlikovale po obliku i veličini. Cilj tretiranja ovim fungicidom je sprečavanje pojave patogenih gljiva na biljkama, prvenstveno u početnim fazama rastenja i razvića kukuruza.
Seme ovog hibrida u toku dorade razdvojeno je na dve frakcije, i to sitno-pljosnato i krupno-pljosnato.
Dezinfekcija semena obavljena je fungicidom Vitavax 200FF koji smo primenili u tri doze (minimalna, srednja i maksimalna) prema preporuci prizvođača Galenike D.D. Fitofarmacija. Kao standard za dezinfekciju semena korišćen je fungicidni preparat Mankogal u tri doze, takođe, prema preporuci proizvođača.
Ispitivanje klijavosti semena izvedeno je standardnim postupkom (25°C) i Cold testom (hladni postupak).
Ova istraživanja su pokazala da efekat primenjenog fungicida zavisi od doze, odnosno, količine primenjenog preparata, ali i od veličine (frakcije) semena.
Hemijskom dezinfekcijom izvedenom upotrebom preparata Vitavax-200FF može se konstatovati da razlike postoje između standardnog ispitivanja klijavosti i Cold testa, posmatrano po primenjenim dozama, ali su mnogo značajnije u poređenju sa kontrolom. Kod svih frakcija te razlike nisu bile značajne, mada je najmanja klijavost bila kod sitnog-pljosnatog semena. S druge strane, najbolju klijavost imala su semena koja su tretirana srednjom dozom ovog fungicida. Tretiranje semena preparatom Mankogal takođe je povećalo energiju klijanja, ali i ukupnu klijavost semena kukuruza u odnosu na netretirane uzorke. U ovim istraživanjima netretirani uzorci semena imali su najmanju ukupnu klijavost, ali i najveći procenat obolelih semena.

AB  - Pectin matters are stored in green parts of the tobacco like constituent of plant tissue binding plant cells. Quantity of pectin changes under the plant growing conditions. It is very important of tobacco quality because content of pectin matters determines leaf elasticity and water capability. Pectin matters also collect mineral meters and have ion-exchange rate role. Determination of total pectin content made using methods proscribed by Giebel and Weiss. The raw pectin matters content is different in various tobaccos. The least content of pectin matters were determined in Virginia tobacco leaves and the highest in burley tobacco leaves. According to the importance of pectin content on physical properties of tobacco leaves especially in tobacco manufacturing, it is necessary to improve methods for determination of pectin content. Also very important is to improves growing conditions in the way of attaining high quality tobacco leaves.
AB  - Količina pektinskih materija u listovima ima veliki značaj na kvalitet biljke duvana. Pektinske materije se sintetišu u zelenim listovima, tako da njihova količina varira u zavisnosti od uslova gajenja. One ulaze u sastav gradivnih i vezivnih jedinica koje povezuju biljne ćelije. Pektinske materije utiču na elastičnost i vododržnu sposobnost duvana, koje su od velikog značaja za fabrikaciju duvana. Za određivanje količine ukupnih pektina korišćene su analize po Gibelu i Vajsu. Najmanja količina pektinskih materija konstatovana je u duvana tipa Virdžinija, a najveća u duvana tipa Berlej.Imajući u vidu značaj ovih materija za fabrikaciju duvana, neophodno je usavršiti metode za njihovo određivanje i prilagoditi uslove gajenja u cilju dobijanja duvanske sirovine sa optimalnom količinom pektinskih materija koje će dati visokokvalitetu sirovinu, pogodnu za upotrebu u fabrikaciji.

ETARSKA ULJA I SMOLE U DUVANSKOM LISTU

AB  - Aromaticnost, mirisljavost finoća ukusa i umerena fiziološka jačina, pored tehnoloških osobina predstavjaju najvažnije kompnnente kvaliteta duvamkog lista. Navedene osobine predstavljaju rezultat rnzličitih biohemijskih i fizičko­ hemijskih procesa koji se odvijaju u duvanskoj biljci u toku vegetacionog perioda i rezultiraju stvaranjern različitih vrsta etarskih ulja i smola.
Mirišljavost duvanskog lista putiče od prisustva etarskih ulja koja je posebno izražena kod suvog. fermentisanog duvanskog lista,  jaka je aromatičnost uslovljena prisustvorn smola i dolazi do izražaja pri sagorevanju. Stvaranje eteričnih ulja i smola, njihova količina i ocena komponenti desava se ne samo tokom vegetacije već i za vreme štave, sušenja i fermentacije duvana.
Na osnovu kuličine eterskih ulja i smola, može da se odredi vreme berbe, način sušenja i postupak fermentacije. Ispitivanja su vršena na orijentalnim tipovima duvana prilep i jaka, gajenih na proizvodnorn području Niša.
Cilj rada je pokušaj da se utvrdi uticaj količine i rasporeda smoia i eteričnih ulja
u duvanskomm listu po insercijama, na kvalitet duvanske sirovine.

AB  - Hemijski sastav duvana u najvećoj meri određuje kvalitet i njegovu upotrebnu vrednost u fabrikaciji. Na osnovu hemijskog sastava duvana, najčešće se pristupa izradi duvanskih mešavina za proizvodnju cigareta. Jedna od najznačajnijih komponenti duvanskog lista je nikotin. Sa ostalim alkaloidima, nikotin u procesu sagorevanja, prilikom pušenja ima specifično fiziološko dejstvo na ljudska čula.
