AB - The rise of innovation in the electrical industry is driven by the controlled design of new materials. The hybrid materials based on magnetite/nanocellulose are highly interesting due to their various applications in medicine, ecology, catalysis and electronics. In this study, the structure and morphology of nanocellulose/magnetite hybrid nanomaterials were investigated. The effect of nanocellulose loading on the crystal structure of synthesized composites was investigated by XRD and FTIR methods. The presented study reveals that the interaction between the cellulose and magnetic nanoparticles depends on the nanocellulose content. Further, a transition from cellulose II to cellulose I allomorph is observed. SEM and EDS are employed to determine the variation in morphology with changes in component concentrations. By the calculation of magnetic interactions between adjacent Fe3+ and Fe2+ ions within composites, it is determined that ferromagnetic coupling predominates.

AB - Due to the growing number of people infected with the new coronavirus globally, which weakens immunity, there has been an increase in bacterial infections. Hence, knowledge about simple and low-cost synthesis methods of materials with good structural and antimicrobial properties is of great importance. A material obtained through the combination of a nanoscale hydroxyapatite material (with good biocompatibility) and titanium dioxide (with good degradation properties of organic molecules) can absorb and decompose bacteria. In this investigation, three different synthesis routes used to prepare hydroxyapatite/titanium dioxide nanomaterials are examined. The morphology and semiquantitative chemical composition are characterized by scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray analysis (SEM-EDX). The obtained materials’ phase and structural characterization are determined using the X-ray powder diffraction method (XRD). The crystallite sizes of the obtained materials are in the range of 8 nm to 15 nm. Based on XRD peak positions, the hexagonal hydroxyapatite phases are formed in all samples along with TiO2 anatase and rutile phases. According to SEM and TEM analyses, the morphology of the prepared samples differs depending on the synthesis route. The EDX analysis confirmed the presence of Ti, Ca, P, and O in the obtained materials. The IR spectroscopy verified the vibration bands characteristic for HAp and titanium. The investigated materials show excellent antimicrobial and photocatalytic properties.

AB - In this study, microstructure evolution and dielectric properties of SrTiO3 ceramic have been investigated, whereby mechanical activation of SrTiO3 powders was used to modify the functional properties of ceramic materials. Microstructural SEM analysis of SrTiO3 ceramics showed that the increase in mechanical activation time results in less porous samples. Raman spectroscopy indicated changes in the broadening and asymmetry of the TO2 mode with a change in the time of mechanical activation. TO2 mode showed a Fano asymmetry due to its interaction with polarization fluctuations in polar micro-regions, which are a consequence of the presence of oxygen vacancies caused by activation. The maximum value of dielectric permittivity was observed in the sample activated for 10 min. Also, the sample activated for 10 min exhibits relatively low values of loss tangent, compared to the other mechanically activated samples, providing the best overall dielectric performance compared to other samples. © 2022 Authors. AB - Na0.25K0.25Bi0.5TiO3 (NKBT) perovskite particles are synthesized by solid-state method and used as a filler for polyvinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene (PVDF-HFP) co-polymer. X-ray diffraction analysis of NKBT powders shows that the particles have a rhombohedral perovskite crystal structure (R3c symmetry). Raman spectroscopy reveals that the co-polymer crystallizes predominantly into the mixture of polar β- and γ-crystals, while there is also a contribution of the non-polar α-crystal phase. The introduction of the NKBT into the PVDF-HFP results with an increase in effective dielectric permittivity and this effect depends on the inorganic content in the composite. The most interesting result of the present study is that the introduction of NKBT particles induces the appearance of an additional transition peak in the dielectric spectra of the co-polymer matrix. At the fixed frequency of ~2 kHz, the observed process appears at ~10 °C (about 45° above the glass transition temperature) and its magnitude strongly depends on the amount of the NKBT in the composite. Dielectric spectroscopy measurements of the composites are carried out in the wide range of frequencies (from 0.1 Hz to 1 MHz) and temperatures (from −100 to 100 °C). They reveal that the novel process can be clearly distinguished in the frequency range between 160 Hz and ~50 kHz.

AB - The paper presents results of the influence of mechanical activation of shungite, a carbon-mineral rock material rich in silica and carbon, on its sintering behaviour, and obtaining of pure SiC ceramics. The mechanical activation of the starting powder was performed in a high-energy ball mill in time intervals from 30 to 480 min. The phase composition of the starting powders and sintered samples was analysed by the X-ray diffraction method. The first traces of SiC were detected after sintering at 1350 °C for 2 h in an Ar atmosphere, along with traces of unreacted SiO2. The scanning electron microscopy was performed in order to determine changes in the microstructure. Sintering was performed at various temperatures for 2 h, in an Ar atmosphere and a vacuum. Dielectric properties of the sintered samples were measured in the frequency range from 1 to 500 MHz. The obtained results indicate that the sintered powder is a good candidate for applications as an absorber of electromagnetic waves in microwave engineering.

this study, the influence of preparation condition on structure and properties of BaTiO3/α-Fe2O3
core/shell composite materials was examined. The five samples were obtained by varying synthesis
conditions, such as synthesized method (co-precipitation and sonochemical method) and pH values of
solution. XRD and Raman spectroscopy analyses were performed in order to determine phase
composition and structural changes within samples. Morphology modifications were examined by
SEM and EDS analyses. Finally, effect of structural and microstructural changes on magnetic and
electrical properties was detected and explained.

AB - Titanium dioxide is a photocatalyst, known not only for its ability to oxidize organic contaminants, but also for its antimicrobial properties. In this article, significant enhancement of the antimicrobial activity of TiO2 (up to 32 times) was demonstrated after its activation by ball milling. The antimicrobial activity was analyzed for one fungal and 13 bacterial ATCC strains using the microdilution method and recording the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values. In order to further investigate the correlation between the mechanical activation of TiO2 and its antimicrobial activity, the structure, morphology and phase composition of the material were studied by means of Electron Microscopy, X-ray diffraction and nitrogen adsorption-desorption measurements. UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectra were recorded and the Kubelka-Munk function was applied to convert reflectance into the equivalent band gap energy (E-g) and, consequently, to investigate changes in the E-g value. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy was used to analyze the influence of mechanical activation on the Ti 2p and O 1s spectra. The presented results are expected to enable the development of more sustainable and effective advanced TiO2-based materials with antimicrobial properties that could be used in numerous green technology applications.

AB - Sintering of pure cordierite 2MgO:2Al(2)O(3):5SiO(2), and cordierite with the addition of 5 mass % TeO2 was studied. Green bodies were prepared from powder mixtures mechanically activated in a high-energy planetary mill, shaped by uniaxial (20 MPa) and cold isostatic pressing (1000 MPa). The pressure-less sintering of these specimens was performed at 1350 degrees C for 1 h. High relative density over 95% of the theoretical value was obtained through solid-state reaction and pressure-less sintering of powder activated for 40 min, and for the first time reported in the literature. Phase composition and microstructures of sintered samples were determined by XRD and SEM, coupled with EDS mapping. The real part of the complex relative permittivity of the samples was measured at 200 MHz. The loss tangent of all samples was below the resolution of the measurement setup. A strong correlation between the relative permittivity and the density agrees with previously published data.

AB - Iron oxide, in the form of magnetite (MG)-functionalized porous wollastonite (WL), was used as an adsorbent for heavy metal ions (cadmium and nickel) and oxyanions (chromate and phosphate) removal from water. The porous WL was synthesized from calcium carbonate and siloxane by controlled sintering process using low molecular weight submicrosized poly(methyl methacrylate) as a pore-forming agent. The precipitation of MG nanoparticles was carried out directly by a polyol-medium solvothermal method or via branched amino/carboxylic acid cross-linker by solvent/nonsolvent method producing WL/MG and WL--APS/MG adsorbents, respectively. The structure/properties of MG functionalized WL was confirmed by applying FTIR, Raman, XRD, Mossbauer, and SEM analysis. Higher adsorption capacities of 73.126, 66.144, 64.168, and 63.456mgg(-1) for WL--APS/MG in relation to WL/MG of 55.450, 52.019, 48.132, and 47.382mgg(-1) for Cd2+, Ni2+, phosphate, and chromate, respectively, were obtained using nonlinear Langmuir model fitting. Adsorption phenomena were analyzed using monolayer statistical physics model for single adsorption with one energy. Kinetic study showed exceptionally higher pseudo-second-order rate constants for WL--APS/MG, e.g., 1.17-13.4 times, with respect to WL/MG indicating importance of both WL surface modification and controllable precipitation of MG on WL--APS.

AB - Zinc ferrite nanocrystalline powder was obtained by solid state synthesis of starting zinc oxide and hematite nanopowders. Field emission scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy confirmed the formation of nanocrystalline zinc-ferrite powder with a mixed spinel structure with small amounts of remaining zinc oxide and hematite as impurities. Thick film paste was formed and screen printed on test interdigitated PdAg electrodes on alumina substrate. Formation of a porous nanocrystalline structure was confirmed by scanning electron microscopy and Hg porosimetry. Humidity sensing properties of zinc ferrite thick films were investigated by monitoring the change in impedance in the relative humidity interval 30%-90% in the frequency range 42 Hz-1 MHz at room temperature (25°C) and 50°C. At 42 Hz at both analyzed temperatures the impedance reduced ~46 times in the humidity range 30%-90%. The dominant influence of grain boundaries was confirmed by analysis of complex impedance with an equivalent circuit.

AB - The interaction of partially reduced graphene oxide (prGO) and Huh7.5.1 liver cancer cells was investigated by means of DUV fluorescence bioimaging. The prGO sample was obtained by the reduction (to a certain extent) of the initially prepared graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets with hydrazine. The fluorescence of the GO nanosheets increases with time of the reduction due to a change in ratio of the sp(2) and sp(3) carbon sites and the prGO sample was extracted from the dispersion after 6 min, when the intensity of the fluorescence reached its maximum. The reduction process was left to proceed further to saturation until highly reduced graphene oxide (denoted here as rGO) was obtained. GO, prGO and rGO samples were investigated by structural (scanning electron microscopy (SEM), scanning transmission electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive spectrometry (STEM-EDS)) and spectroscopic (UV-vis, photoluminescence (PL), Raman) methods. After that, Huh7.5.1 cells were incubated with GO, prGO and rGO nanosheets and used in bioimaging studies, which were performed on DISCO beamline of synchrotron SOLEIL. It was found that the prGO significantly enhanced the fluorescence of the cells and increased the intensity of the signal by similar to 2.5 times. Time-lapse fluorescence microscopy experiments showed that fluorescence dynamics strongly depends on the type of nanosheets used. The obtained prGO nanostructure can be easily conjugated with aromatic ring containing drugs, which opens a possibility for its applications in fluorescence microscopy monitored drug delivery.

AB - The influence of the mechanical activation of ZnO nanoparticle fillers on the structural and electrical properties of the matrix of poly(vinylidenefluoride)-ZnO (PVDF-ZnO) films was investigated. Transmission electron microscopy and scanning electron microscopy analyses showed that mechanical activation in a high energy planetary ball mill reduces the size of ZnO particles. X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy revealed that PVDF crystallized predominantly as the gamma-phase. Non-activated ZnO filler reduces the degree of the crystallinity of the matrix and promotes crystallization of alpha-phase of PVDF in the film, while the fillers activated for 5 and 10 min induce crystallization of beta-phase, indicating that mechanical activation of the filler can be used as a general method for fabrication of PVDF composites with increased content of piezoelectric beta-phase crystals. Dielectric spectroscopy measurements show that polymer composite with the high content of beta-phase (with ZnO filler activated for 5 min) exhibits the highest value of dielectric permittivity in 150-400 K range of temperatures. Kinetic analysis shows combined effects of increased surface area and increased concentration of surface defects on the interactions between polymer chains and activated nanoparticles.

AB - Pseudobrookite based nanopowder was obtained by solid state synthesis of starting hematite and anatase nanopowders in the weight ratio 55:45. Structural and morphological properties were analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), BET, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Raman spectroscopy, UV/Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) confirming the formation of nanocrystalline pseudobrookite. The obtained powder was mixed with a binder (ethyl cellulose), dispersant (alpha-terpinol) and adhesion agents (acetic acid and distilled water) to obtain a thick film paste. It was screen printed on alumina substrate with interdigitated PdAg electrodes and fired at 600 degrees C for 30 min. Formation of a porous nanocrystalline thick film structure was shown using Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), while Hall measurements enabled determination of carrier mobility. Change of impedance response in the frequency range 42 Hz-1 MHz with humidity was analyzed at room temperature (25 degrees C) and 50 degrees C in the relative humidity range 30-90% and 40-90%, respectively. At 42 Hz, and room temperature the impedance reduced similar to 28 times, while at 50 degrees C it reduced similar to 147 times in the relative humidity range 40-90%. The sensor showed rapid response (16 s) and relatively low hysteresis (8.39% at 25 degrees C and 2.64% at 50 degrees C) showing that this is a promising material for application in humidity sensing.

AB - One-dimensional (1D) TiO2 nanotubes perpendicular to the substrate were obtained by electrochemical oxidation of titanium foil in an acid electrolyte. In order to alter the crystallinity and the morphology of films the as-anodized amorphous TiO2 nanotube films were sintered at elevated temperatures. The evolution of the morphology was visualized via scanning electron microscopy (SEM), while the crystalline structure was investigated by Xray diffraction (XRD) and Raman spectroscopy. The chemical composition was studied by Xray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The effects of crystallinity and morphology of TiO2 nanotube (NTs) films on photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange (MO) in an aqueous solution under UV light irradiation were also investigated. The TiO2 nanotubes sintered at 650 degrees C for 30 min had the highest degree of crystallinity and exhibited the best photocatalytic activity among the studied TiO2 nanotube films.

AB - Barium hexaferrite ceramics were prepared using mechanically activated mixtures of iron and barium titanate. The 60:40 mass% Fe:BaTiO3 powder mixtures were mechanically activated for different times (100-240 min) and sintered at 1100 and 1200 degrees C in order to determine the influence of mechanical activation of the precursor on the magnetic and dielectric properties of the resulting barium hexaferrite ceramics. The final product contained 84-89 mass% of Ba2Fe22.46O38Ti1.54 phase, with higher content corresponding to longer mechanical activation of the precursor. XRD and Raman measurements indicated that the remainder of the sample consists of leftover BaTiO3 and hematite, which was formed by the oxidation of iron during mechanical activation and sintering in air. Magnetic properties of samples sintered at 1200 degrees C are superior to those sintered at 1100 degrees C, which can be attributed to higher Ba2Fe22.46O38Ti1.54 phase content. The position of the Curie temperature in 350-420 degrees C temperature region is consistent with 0.8:1 ratio of Ti to Ba. Maximum magnetization was observed for samples activated for 120 min. Dielectric properties of samples sintered at 1200 degrees C showed a dependence on frequency, with a significant drop in relative permittivity with an increase in frequency in the low-frequency region, and relatively constant values of relative permittivity in the high-frequency region. The tangent loss showed a decrease with increase in frequency, where peaks corresponding to the resonance of the electron hopping frequency with the external field were observed in the samples corresponding to the longer mechanical activation. Dielectric properties showed relatively small changes for samples activated longer than 150 min.

abstract = "Barium hexaferrite ceramics were prepared using mechanically activated mixtures of iron and barium titanate. Dielectric properties showed relatively small changes for samples activated longer than 150 min.",

AB - This paper introduces new electronic sensor circuits based on the usage of a piezoelectric Polyvinylidene fluoride-PVDF pressure detector coupled with a current-mode instrumentation amplifier, Schmitt comparator, and only grounded resistors. Pressure/force is measured in terms of the charge generated by the PVDF element as a result of the direct piezoelectric effect. The experimental test results demonstrated that the dynamic pressure response, the sensitivity and linearity of the designed sensor were higher than the sensitivity and linearity of a traditional piezoelectric sensor. The sensitivity of the PVDF sensor was 0.08 mV/Pa. The detector is calibrated over a frequency range of 1 Hz-1 kHz. The proposed signal conditioning electronics offer a potential for future miniaturization in order to be integrated with different commercial devices, for detecting certain tiny activities including finger movements, robotics and smart electronic devices.

AB - The structural characteristics of polymer nanocomposites with functionalized multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) in poly(methyl methacrylate) matrix have been studied in relation to nanofiller loading and surface functionality. Different functional groups have been covalently attached on the MWCNTs sidewalls in order to induce interfacial interactions at nanofiller/polymer interface, which resulted in an improved nanomechanical features. Structural properties of nanocomposites, studied with XRD and Raman analysis, indicated the most pronounced decrease in a degree of amorphousness for samples containing 0.5 and 1 wt% of MWCNTs functionalized with dapsone (dapson-MWCNT) and diethyl malonate (dem-MWCNT). SEM and TEM micrographs confirmed improved dispersibility of the MWCNTs modified with aromatic structure of dapsone inside PMMA matrix. A significant increase in a glass transition temperature of over 60 degrees C has been found for the 1 wt% dapson-MWCNT nanocomposite. Additional modification of dapson-MWCNT by further increasing aromaticity and voluminosity of attached moiety (fid-MWCNT), showed 30 degrees C increases in a glass transition temperature at 4 wt% of nanofiller loading, which is similar to shift of 37 degrees C with loading of MWCNTs modified with ester terminal group. A maximum increase of 56% of reduced modulus and 86% of hardness was obtained for 1 wt% loading of dapson-MWCNT nanofiller.

AB - Nanomaterials development is a rapidly emerging field of research with enormous potential for societal and economic benefits. In agro and food industries dimension-dependent properties or phenomena of nanomaterials may be used for various functional effects such as increased bioavailability or decreased toxicity of products, better detection of pathogens, improved food packaging materials, or improved delivery of nutrients. Since these effects may derive from altered or unique characteristics of materials in the nanoscale range that are not normally observed or expected in larger-scale materials with the same chemical composition, such changes raise questions about the safety, effectiveness, performance, quality or public health impact of nanotechnology products. In this article, we have reviewed the fabrication, properties, and selected applications of nanostructured TiO2 based materials. Special attention has been paid to TiO2 nanoparticles and nanotubes fabrication perspectives and applications in agriculture. We have shown that high photocatalytic disinfection and photobiological effects of nanostructured TiO2 coupled with its low price, nontoxicity, and stable performance especially provide new approaches for solving environmental pollution and pesticide residue problems in agriculture.

AB - Crystal structure and morphology of mechanically activated nanocrystalline Fe/BaTiO3 was investigated using a combination of spectroscopic and microscopic methods. These show that mechanical activation led to the creation of new surfaces and the comminution of the initial powder particles. Prolonged milling resulted in formation of larger agglomerates of BaTiO3 and bimodal particle size distribution, where BaTiO3 particles were significantly larger than those of iron-containing phases. Milling times of 210 min and above lead to a significant decrease in temperature of the oxidation of iron in the sample, indicating abrupt change in reactivity. Raman spectroscopy analysis has revealed that activation had a pronounced influence on Fe/BaTiO3 lattice, thereby affecting both the stability of the crystal structure and the phase transition phenomena.

AB - The data on both conventional and organic strawberry production were collected through a survey on family farms in the western part of Serbia, in the period June-September 2014. The subject of this research is a comparative analysis of economic performance of different ways of growing strawberries. Based on data collected by the survey, the average total revenue and total expenditure in this production were assessed for the surface of 1 ha, and for both conventional and organic way of growing. Then, using the static method for the business period of five years the indicators of economic feasibility of strawberries are determined as originally set as the objective of this research. The results determined are: the average net profit, the accumulation rate, the rate of return in the production of strawberries etc. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the production of strawberries is very profitable, and that more favorable economic results are achieved through organic production.

AB - Neuromarketing studies reveal significant new information about human preferences by measuring brain activity. The use of neuromarketing enables marketers to discover the desires and needs of consumers and therefore define their goals. This method can reveal unconscious thoughts, feelings and desires of consumers to manage their everyday purchasing decisions. The field of neuromarketing uses advances in technology and goes beyond the traditional methods of qualitative and quantitative research. Focusing on the brain's response to consumer marketing stimuli, it helps us clarify what consumers think in a situation where they are faced with a product. With the increasing application of new technologies, a large number of companies are involved in the implementation of neuromarketing studies in order to improve their sales. With this in mind, this paper will discuss neuromarketing techniques, when they are applied, which tools they are measured with, as well as the advantages and limitations when applying them.
Polje neuromarketinga koristi napredak u tehnologiji i prevazilazi tradicionalne (konvencionalne) metode kvalitativnog i kvantitativnog istraživanja.
