AB  - As part of theoretical and applied botanical research, medicinal
plant raw materials and their ingredients are studied. Certain plant species
contain active substances, compounds with proven pharmacological, that is,
biological activity. The mentioned compounds mainly belong to the secondary
metabolites of plants.

Effect of growth biostimulators on flower and seed yield parameters of Calendula officinalis

AB  - Calendula.officinalis is a medicinal plant species known for centuries and it is
widely used in cooking, medicine and numerous processing industries. In an
attempt to improve the productive properties of C. officinalis in pots, an
experiment was conducted at the experimental field of the Institute for Medicinal
Plants Research "Dr. Josif Pančić" Belgrade, Serbia. This work aimed to examine
the influence of organic growth biostimulators on the flower and seed yield
parameters of C. officinalis grown under semi-controlled conditions.
The experiment contained two treatments by priming C. officinalis seeds for 20
minutes, organic biostimulators (EkoBooster1 - E and Algo Fast - A) and one
control treatment (K) in distilled water.
The results of the experiment showed that the yield parameters during the first
four harvests were significantly better in the treatments with biostimulators, while
in the later harvests the yield parameters were better in the control treatment. In
contrast to the treatments with biostimulators (A) and (E), the yield of seeds per
plant (9.2 and 8.9) was significantly better in the control treatment (K-12.8), while
the percentage of germinated seeds did not differ significantly between treatments
(A:91.3 %; E: 90.2%; K: 92.4%). The outcome of this study shows us that
biostimulators have a positive effect on the parameters of marigold flower yield
in the initial stages of harvest, while they did not have an excessive effect on seed
yield.

Benefits of organic food production

AB  - Due to legal regulations and standards, organic agriculture provides the production of healthy, high-quality food, which has not only numerous benefits for human health, but also ensures the preservation of the environment. The relevant literature was surveyed for this study with the aim to point out to nutritive values of organic food and the advantages of food consumption. Furthermore, an overview of the beneficial effects on the environment was presented. The world population is increasingly attaching importance to the quality of food that is consumed due to adverse effects of conventional agricultural production and the use of chemicals. It is obvious that there is still a need for a greater number of analyses and studies in order to justify the value of organic food products, which are of higher quality and more nutritious and healthier than conventionally produced ones.

Organic soya bean production in Serbia

AB  - In Serbia during 2021, organic crop production was performed on the area of 23,527 ha. The area of 2121.6 ha on which industrial crops were grown ranked fourth comparing to the total arable area sown with organic crops. Soya bean is one of the most important legumes, primarily because of the exceptional chemical composition of the grain (40% proteins and 20% oil). This manuscript reveals the analyses and graphic presentation of the area trends and the regional distribution of organic soya bean production in Serbia in the 2011-2021 period. The desk research was applied. Organic farming of soya bean is carried out on the area of 481 ha, right behind the leading sunflower (1,165 ha). In the region of Vojvodina, there are the largest areas on which organic growth of soya bean is performed. However, the organic soya bean production in Serbia is still insignificant, despite favourable agroecological conditions and market demands.

Bioherbicides in organic agriculture

AB  - Given that the use of synthetic pesticides is prohibited in organic agricultural production, the biggest challenge is plant protection. The fight against weed plants in organic production is a measure that has neither simple nor standard solutions. Since herbicides are prohibited in these plantations, the use of biopesticides represents a safe, legally permitted, natural alternative. Depending on the organism they control, biopesticides are divided into bioinsecticides, biofungicides, bioherbicides, and others. This paper aims to review the relevant literature that indicates the most critical agents used as bioherbicides in organic agriculture. Living organisms such as insects, nematodes, bacteria, and fungi, as well as natural products are used in the biological control of weeds. There are many plant extracts with bioherbicidal action, which is most often attributed to the feature of allelopathy. Natural products that are used in the fight against weed plants contain essential oils (such as clove oil, eugenol, and d-limonene), soaps (pelargonic acid), acids (acetic, citric), or iron compounds (chelates). Acetic acid and vinegar are the ingredients in several herbicide products. Over 20 bioherbicides are registered or commercialized on the world market, most of which are based on fungi (genera Alternaria, Colletotrichum, Fusarium, Phomopsis, Phytophthora, Phyllosticta, Phoma destructiva, Puccinia, etc.). Corn gluten meal and mustard seed meal are used as preemergence organic herbicides, and as post-emergence and burndown organic herbicides 40% ammonium nonanoate, vinegar (5, 10, 15 and 20% acetic acid), clove oil 55% d-limonene. However, the market for these products is still small, it is mainly dominated by chemical control. There are still no registered bioherbicides in Serbia. Bioherbicides have shown great potential in controlling weeds in organic agricultural production, and represent a sustainable, cheap, and environmentally friendly suppression method.

The state of organic barley production in Serbia

AB  - In Serbia, in 2021, organic crop production was performed on the area of 23,527 ha. The organic cereal production was carried out on the area of 4.458,69 ha - the dominant role belonged to wheat, which was grown on the area of 1.581,18 ha, and was followed by rye (879,08 h), spelt wheat (491,79 ha) and barley (398,52 ha). The aim of this study was to show the range of areas under organic barley production in Serbia and to show the regional distribution for the 2011-2021 period. Data were obtained from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republic of Serbia. The following methods were used in the study: desk research, content analysis, comparative analyses and analyses of base and chain indices. The largest production of barley in 2021 was recorded in the region of Vojvodina (358.09 ha). The organic cereal production was carried out on the area of 4.458,69 ha - the dominant role belonged to wheat, which was grown on the area of 1.581,18 ha, and was followed by rye (879,08 h), spelt wheat (491,79 ha) and barley (398,52 ha). The aim of this study was to show the range of areas under organic barley production in Serbia and to show the regional distribution for the 2011-2021 period. Data were obtained from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republic of Serbia. The following methods were used in the study: desk research, content analysis, comparative analyses and analyses of base and chain indices. The largest production of barley in 2021 was recorded in the region of Vojvodina (358.09 ha). AB  - Tribulus terrestris uglavnom je invazivna korovska biljna vrsta koja je od ranije poznata u kineskoj
i indijskoj tradicionalnoj medicini za lečenje seksualne disfunkcije, problema sa očima i nadutošću
stomaka. Poreklom je pretežno iz južne Evrope, Azije, širom Afrike i Australije iz toplih umerenih i
tropskih regiona. Uglavnom se razmnožava isključivo semenom, pri čemu je procenat klijavosti T.
terrestris veoma nizak u prirodnim i laboratorijskim uslovima.
Prikupljena semena T. terrestrisa iz samoniklih populacija su do ispitivanja čuvana na sobnoj
temperaturi. Testiranje klijavosti semena obavljeno je tokom maja 2022. godine primenom tretmana
potapanja u vodi u različitim vremenskim intervalima i metodom skarifikacije semena nakon kog je
postavljeno u petri posude između filter papira.
Na osnovu dobijenih rezultata utvrđeno je da je u svim tretmanima koji uključuju potapanje i
skarifikaciju klijavost bila bolja nego u kontrolnom tretmanu, pri čemu je najbolja klijavost (76.3 %)
postignuta tretmanom potapanja semena u trajanju od 12h.

AB  - Tribulus terrestris is mainly an invasive weedy plant species that has long been known in Chinese
and Indian traditional medicine to treat sexual dysfunction, eye problems, and stomach bloating. It is
native mainly from southern Europe, Asia, throughout Africa and Australia from warm temperate and
tropical regions. It is mainly propagated exclusively by seed, with the percentage of germination of T.
terrestris being very low in natural and laboratory conditions.
Collected seeds of T. terrestris from wild populations were stored at room temperature until testing.
Seed germination testing was carried out during May 2022 using the water immersion treatment at
different time intervals and the seed scarification method, after which it was placed in a petri dish
between filter papers.
Based on the obtained results, it was determined that in all treatments that include immersion and
scarification, germination was better than in the control treatment, where the best germination (76.3%)
was achieved with the treatment of seed immersion for 12 hours.

AB  - Methods of absorption and Raman spectroscopy were applied in this study to analyze functions and amounts of photosynthetic pigments in the leaf of maize inbred lines (M1-3-3Sdms, ZPPL186, and ZPPL225). Absorption spectroscopy was used to determine the dynamics of biosynthesis of chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b,  and  carotenoids.  Raman  spectroscopy  was  used  to  present  the  dynamics  of biosynthesis of carotenoids and other compounds in terms of origin and kinetic form of the formation of spectra with all spectral bands. Organic molecules and compounds  causing  the  formation  of  certain  spectral  bands  in  the  Raman spectrum   (carotenoids,   phosphates,   glycogen,   amid   III,   and   others)   were determined. Conformational and functional changes of photosynthetic pigments in the leaves of the maize inbred lines, which occur due to changes in the ratio (quotient),  were  analyzed.  The  ratios  (quotients)  obtained  indicate  different contributions  of  valence  oscillations  of  their  chemical  bonds,  which  inevitably alter  the conformation  of molecules  and  compounds.  The  results  presented  for the  overall  study  point  to  minor  biogenic  differences  among  the  maize  inbred lines under study

AB  - Marigold (Calendula officinalis L.) from the Asteraceae family is annual or perennial
plant with many purposes: pot or garden ornamental plant, an ingredient in cosmetic
products, medicinal plant and edible food decoration. Marigold flowers are source of
bioactive compounds beneficial to human health. About that, in this study 80% methanol and
80% acetone extracts were used for spectrophotometric determination of photosynthetic
pigments chlorophyll a and b, and total carotenoid content (TCC), total phenolic (TPC),
flavonoid (TFC), and hydroxycinnamic acid derivative (HCAs) content (Tab. 1) and
antioxidant activity by TAC (in vitro phosphomolybdenum), FRP (ferric reducing power),
CUPRAC (cupric reducing antioxidant capacity), DPPH⦁ (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl
radical scavenging) assays (Tab. 2). The obtained results were analyzed by one-way analysis
of variance (ANOVA) and post hoc Tukey`s HSD test and the results were expressed as
mean ± standard deviation (SD). The obtained indicated statistically significantly higher content of all tested
parameters in acetone extracts compared to methanol extracts. The content of photosynthetic
pigments was lower compared to other edible flowers pigment content from the Asteraceae
family. Regarding the antioxidant activity of marigold flowers, in TAC and FRP assays
acetone extract also had higher antioxidant activity, while in CUPRAC and DPPH⦁ assays
there is no statistically significant difference between the tested extracts. Based on their
phytochemical properties, marigold flowers can be classified as functional food.

AB  - The present work determined complete mineral profile of four different types of grains (spelt, soybean, maize, and buckwheat) grown under two growing systems – conventional and organic. The contents of 20 macro-, micro and trace elements were analysed in the examined grains by inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES). In most samples, nine elements were present in concentrations higher than 10 mg/kg. The remaining elements were present at lower concentrations or in traces or not detected in certain samples. Aluminium and arsenic, as two toxic elements, were detected only in organic buckwheat grains. Based on the obtained results for the mineral contents, a nutritive assessment of the quality of grains of spelt, soybean, maize, and buckwheat were made. Results of nutritional assessment showed that spelt, soybean, and buckwheat grains could potentially be good sources of several minerals for human diet. On the other hand, the presence of some toxic elements, such as cadmium and strontium, should be monitored. Results of principal component analysis (PCA) and hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA) shown that the mineral composition, to a much greater extent, depended on the botanical origin of grains as compared to the production system © 2022. Results of nutritional assessment showed that spelt, soybean, and buckwheat grains could potentially be good sources of several minerals for human diet. On the other hand, the presence of some toxic elements, such as cadmium and strontium, should be monitored. AB  - The basic principles for the development of organic agriculture has been prescribed by the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements-IFOAM and the European Union (Commission Regulation No 209/91), on whose standards EU regulations are founded. The field of organic production at the international level and issues of seeds and planting material are regulated by the IFOAM Basic Standards 2002, which stipulates that seed and planting material used in organic agriculture has to be produced in line with the regulations applicable to organic crops. Unlike the conventional seed production, in organic seed production, there is a higher risk of contamination with pathogens, i.e. seed-borne diseases. The aim of this study was to point out the existing methods of seed treatments in the organic production system in order to obtain healthy seeds. Seed-borne pathogens, including bacteria, fungi, viruses and viroids, are responsible for disease recurrence in subsequent cycles of seed multiplication and spread of diseases in new geographic regions. According to various authors, there are several classifications of treatments including physical treatments, application of natural compounds, such as plant extracts and oils, use of inorganic natural products and biological control (use antagonistic microorganisms). In order to overcome various pathogens different biocontrol strategies should be developed. Microorganisms can be used in diverse crop protection practices, i.e. several seed treatments can facilitate high levels of both disease control and production yield. © 2022, University of Montenegro. AB  - Spelt (Triticum spelta L.) has been increasingly attracting producers due to the biological properties and chemical composition of its seeds. As high-quality seeds are necessary for successful production, the vigour of organically and conventionally produced spelt seeds has been studied and results are presented in this paper. The seeds of the variety Nirvana produced by both methods at the Maize Research Institute “Zemun Polje” in 2015 were observed. According to the results, the germination energy of conventionally and organically produced seeds amounted to 30% and 69%, respectively. The total germination of conventionally and organically produced spelt seeds amounted to 99% and 93%, respectively. The percentage of abnormal seedlings of spelt produced by both methods amounted to 1% on average. The participation of diseased and dead seeds was higher in organically produced seeds (6%) than in conventionally produced seeds (0%). After the seed accelerated ageing test, a higher germination was observed in conventionally produced seeds (75%) than in organically produced seeds (68%). The electric conductivity of conventionally produced seeds amounted to 189.4 μS/cm and 195.2 μS/cm in the first and the second replication, respectively, while the values of organically produced seeds amounted to 95.5 μS/cm and 98.6 μS/cm, in the first and the second replication, respectively. The results obtained by the electrical conductivity test indicated that the conventionally produced spelt seeds (32.33 µS/cm g) were classified into the category of low vigour seeds in comparison to organically produced spelt seeds (27.65 µS/cm g). © 2022 University of Belgrade - Faculty of Agriculture. AB  - Numerous worldwide studies have shown that there is a difference in the
mineral composition between organically and conventionally produced plants
and their products. Spelt (Triticum spelta), alternative grain from the family
Poaceae, occupies a very important place in the production of healthy food.
Also, spelt represents commonly grown organic crops due to the ideally
balanced ratio of nutrients. In addition to the macroelements, for the survival
and normal plant function some microelements are also needed. The aim of
this study was to determine the existence of differences in the content of
microelements and (B, Ba, Cu, Li, Mn and Se) in organically and
conventionally produced spelt seeds, in period of 2015-2017. The
determination of these elements was conducted by using Inductively Coupled
Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES) with previous digestion of
samples and results were expressed as mg/kg of dry weight. In samples
collected during 2015 and 2016, B and Ba were not detected. In conventional
spelt seed, higher quantity of Ba (2.366 mg/kg), Cu (6.356 mg/kg) and Mn
(55.878 mg/kg) was determined, while organic spelt seed contained higher
content of B (0.875 mg/kg), Li (14.77 mg/kg) and Se (0.275 mg/kg) compared
to conventionally grown sample. The obtained results for the examined
elements revealed that the lowest content in analyzed seeds was for Li
(conventional seed from 2017, 0,008 mg/kg), while Mn was quantified in the
highest amount (conventional seed from 2017, 55.878 mg/kg).

AB  - Сремуш (Allium ursinum) у народу је врло познат као лековита, ароматична и зачинска биљна
врста где као таква има велику примену у кулинарству и медицини. Потребе за овом лековитом
биљном сировином претежно се задовољавају њеним сакупљањем из самониклих популација. У
покушају да се испита могућност гајења сремуша вегетативним начином размножавања и са
тиме испита могућност производње одговарајуће количине ове биљне сировине спроведен је
вишегодишњи огледни експеримент на приватном поседу у Мачванском округу. Циљ овог
истраживања био да се утврди могућности узгајања сремуша вегетативним начином
размножавања. Према томе, на подручју Мачванског региона постављен је монофакторијални,
вишегодишњи оглед при чему је утврђиван број изниклих биљака а уједно је вршена оцена њихове
продуктивности анализом морфолошких параметара током вегетације у 2021. и 2022. години.
У односу на број посађених луковица у третманима током вегетације 2021. године израсло је
92,5%, биљака док се у 2022. години захваљујући генеративном начину размножавања број
изниклих биљака био знатно повећао 195%. Током 2021. године поређењем морфолошких
параметара на гајеном станишту са природним стаништем добијене вредности нису се
значајно разликовале. У 2022. години на гајеном станишту постигнуте су ниже вредности за
масу биљке, висину надземног дела биљке и површину листа. Добијени резултати указују да се
сремуш може успешно вегетативно размножавати односно, правилним узорковањем луковица
као и њиховом садњом у одговарајућим амбијенталним условима могу се засновати популације
чији ће се склоп повећавати из године у годину.
AB  - Sremuš (Allium ursinum) is popularly known as a medicinal, aromatic and spicy plant species where
as such it has great application in cooking and medicine. The needs for this medicinal plant raw material
are mostly met by collecting it from wild populations. In an attempt to examine the possibility of growing
sremus by vegetative method of reproduction and thus examine the possibility of producing an
appropriate amount of this plant raw material, a multi-year experimental experiment was conducted on
a private property in the Macvan district. The aim of this research was to determine the possibilities of
growing sremus by vegetative method of reproduction. Therefore, in the area of the Macvan region, a
monofactorial, multi-year experiment was set up, during which the number of sprouted plants was
determined, and at the same time their productivity was assessed by analyzing morphological
parameters during the vegetation in 2021 and 2022. In relation to the number of planted bulbs in
treatments during the vegetation in 2021, 92.5% of plants grew, while in 2022, thanks to the generative
method of propagation, the number of sprouted plants increased significantly by 195%. During 2021,
by comparing the morphological parameters of the cultivated habitat with the natural habitat, the

obtained values did not differ significantly. In 2022, lower values for plant weight, height of the above-
ground part of the plant and leaf area were achieved on the cultivated habitat. The obtained results

indicate that sremush can be successfully propagated vegetatively, that is, by proper sampling of bulbs
as well as their planting in appropriate ambient conditions, populations can be established whose
composition will increase from year to year.

by comparing the morphological parameters of the cultivated habitat with the natural habitat, the

obtained values did not differ significantly. In 2022, lower values for plant weight, height of the above-
ground part of the plant and leaf area were achieved on the cultivated habitat. The obtained results

indicate that sremush can be successfully propagated vegetatively, that is, by proper sampling of bulbs
as well as their planting in appropriate ambient conditions, populations can be established whose
composition will increase from year to year.",

AB  - Циљ oвог рада био је да се проучи утицај ђубрења (облика азота) и инокулације семена на
морфолошке особине, компоненте приноса и принос зрна соје. Пољски микроогледи су изведени
у агроеколошким условима Поморавља током 2019. године, на земљишту типа гајњача. Као
семенски материјал коришћена је сорта НС Зоја (00 група зрења). Примењен је метод
раздељених парцела, у четири понављања. Површина основне парцеле је износила 170,0 m2
, са

осам потпарцела, а површина обрачунске парцеле за принос зрна износила је 3,0 m2

. Примењена
агротехника на огледу била је стандардна, као за редовну производњу соје. Резултати указују
да је у просеку, за испитиване факторе, висина биљке износила 36,6 cm. У просеку за варијанте
инокулације, највећа висина прве етаже махуна (9,9 cm) измерена је на контроли (без ђубрења).
У просеку за варијанте инокулације, највећи број етажа махуна (10,6) измерен је на третману
са применом УРЕЕ. У просеку за облике азота, на третману са инокулацијом семена избројан је
већи број махуна по биљци. Највећа маса 1000 зрна (247,5 g) измерена је на третману без
ђубрења. Највећи принос (1,17 t ha-1

) био је на третману са применом КАН-а. У просеку за облике

азота, на третману са инокулацијом семена измерен је већи принос зрна за 90 kg ha-1

у поређењу

са третманом без инокулације семена.

AB  - Органска пољопривреда, као систем одрживе пољопривредне производње, омогућава
производњу здравствено безбедних, сертификованих намирница, не реметећи животну средину
и здравље биљака, животиња и људи. На глобалном нивоу, површине под органском биљном
производњом перманентно се увећавају, заузимајући 74,9 милиона хектара у 2020. години,
односно, 1,6% укупног пољопривредног земљишта. У Србији, у 2020. години органска биљна
производња одвијала се на површини од 20.970,75 ha, од чега највећи удео имају површине под
органским воћарским засадима (5.294,84 ha) и житом (3.623,15 ha). У органској производњи
жита примарно место заузима пшеница, са највећим уделом производних површина (1.436,51 ha,
тј. 40%). У овом раду су приказане промене у површинама под органском пшеницом у Србији, за
период од 2011. до 2020. године, на основу података Министарства пољопривреде и заштите
животне средине Републике Србије. Примењен је метод истраживања за столом.
Производња органске пшенице у периоду од 2011. до 2020. године имала је знатне варијације.
Највећа производња забележена је 2019. године, када су површине износиле 2.264,95 ha.
Регионална дистрибуција органске производње пшенице у Србији веома је разнолика. Највеће
површине налазе се у региону Војводине (1.800,49 ha), коју следе Јужна и Источна Србија са
425,56 ha.

AB  - Lettuce, or Lactuca sativa L., is a leafy vegetable from Asteraceae family, that 
has great nutritional value and it is beneficial for human health. Leaves of this 
annual plant are great source of fiber in addition to bioactive compounds and 
are mostly consumed fresh, whereas in some cultures stems are also being 
prepared as meals. Cultivars of this cool-seasoned vegetable differ by the leaf 
number, color, size, shape and edges, stem and rosette development, etc. In this 
study, five lettuce cultivars were analyzed in order to inspect their impact on 
morphological properties and yield: Aleppo (type Lollo Bionda), Carmesi
(Lollo Rosso), Murai (Red Oak leaf), Kiribati (Green Oak leaf) and Tourbillon 
(Crystal). The experiment was conducted in plastic greenhouse, using the 
method of randomized block design, where each of four repetitions consisted 
of eight plants. The analyzed traits were: number of leaves, fresh leaves weight, 
stem weight, diameter and height of plants, rosette diameter and height, whole 
plant weight. Statistical analyses pointed out significant differences for each 
examined morphological aspect. The largest diameter of the rosette was 
measured in cultivar Crystal (26.6 cm), as well as the diameter (25.9 mm), 
weight (7.3 g) and the height of the stem (44.6 mm). Further, cultivar Green 
Oak leaf was formed the largest number of leaves (39.7) in addition to greatest 
fresh leaves weight (343.5 g) and whole plant weight (347.0 g). Cultivar Lollo 
Rosso was achieved the highest rosette (18.5 cm) among others, whereas the 
lowest values in all parameters were obtained from Red Oak leaf cultivar.

AB  - The aim of the current study was to determine the content of several primary metabolites: total soluble sugars, starch and lipids, soluble sugars, fatty acids and triacylglycerols profile, and secondary metabolites: total phenolics and flavonoids, in the grains of soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) cultivar ‘Kaća’. Additionally, grain antioxidant properties were assessed using ABTS•+ scavenging capacity and ferric reducing power (FRP) assays. Soybean was developed and grown in Serbia under two cultivation systems (conventional and organic) during two growing seasons (2016 and 2017). In both growing seasons and cultivation systems, soybean grains were characterised by reduced lipid content (8.16–14.34%) and as an excellent source of polyunsaturated fatty acids. Triacylglycerols (TAGs) with 44 equivalent carbon numbers (ECN44) represented the main fraction (30.95–32.79%) followed by ECN46 TAGs (23.27–26.36%). Low total soluble sugars (2.36–11.51%) content was determined. High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis revealed a significant prevalence of non-reducing disaccharides (1.41–6.57%) among the individual sugars. Soybean grains were proved as a good source of phenolic (2493.9–4419.5 mg kg-1) and flavonoid (292.7–500.9 mg kg-1) compounds with the dominance of free (extractable) fractions. Strong positive correlations were observed between both cultivation systems and growing seasons indicating no clear differences for the majority of analysed parameters. All examined extracts possessed a significant ability (27.6–38.2%) to neutralize ABTS•+ radicals, while in the case of FRP assay a significant ability for iron ions (Fe3+) reduction was recorded for the samples from the second growing season.

Soybean grains were proved as a good source of phenolic (2493.9–4419.5 mg kg-1) and flavonoid (292.7–500.9 mg kg-1) compounds with the dominance of free (extractable) fractions. Strong positive correlations were observed between both cultivation systems and growing seasons indicating no clear differences for the majority of analysed parameters. All examined extracts possessed a significant ability (27.6–38.2%) to neutralize ABTS•+ radicals, while in the case of FRP assay a significant ability for iron ions (Fe3+) reduction was recorded for the samples from the second growing season.",

AB  - Organska poljoprivreda predstavlja sistem održive poljoprivredne proizvodnje, koji omogućava
proizvodnju zdravstveno bezbedne hrane, uz očuvanje zdravlja biljaka, životinja, ljudi i čitavog
ekosistema. Usled negativnih posledica do kojih je dovela konvencionalna poljoprivreda i zagađenja
životne sredine, sve veći broj potrošača na globalnom nivou odlučuje se za kupovinu zdravstveno
bezbednih namirnica. Brojni faktori utiču na razloge konzumiranja organskih proizvoda. Najveći broj
istraživanja u svetu ukazuju da su zdravstveni problemi potrošača glavni razlog kupovine organske
hrane, a zatim slede briga za očuvanjem životne sredine i dobrobit životinja. Većina potrošača ima
pozitivan stav prema spremnosti da se plati za organsku hranu, što se može objasniti percepcijom
potrošača da je organska hrana zdravija i boljeg nutritivnog sastava od konvencionalnih alternativa. U
organskoj proizvodnji nije dozvoljena upotreba sintetičkih pesticida i mineralnih đubriva, što je još
jedan faktor koji favorizuje kupovinu organski proizvedene hrane. Iako organska proizvodnja beleži rast,
u Srbiji i dalje postoji mali broj potrošača koji su redovni kupci organskih proizvoda. Niska kupovna
moć i visoke maloprodajne cene predstavljaju glavne ograničavajuće faktore potražnje i potrošnje
organskih proizvoda.

AB  - Triacylglycerols (TAGs) and free fatty acids (FAs) present an important part of the grain lipid fraction. Knowing about its composition can be important information for both chemotaxonomic and nutritional parameters. The aim of the present study was to determine the TAG and FA profiles (and their similarities/differences) of several important crops (maize, spelt, buckwheat) grown under dissimilar agroecological systems - conventional and organic. Fatty acid composition was determined by applying the GC-FID method while HPLC method was used for the determination of the triacylglycerol profile of selected grains. To the best of our knowledge, the TAG profile of spelt grains was determined for the first time. Ten different FAs were identified in examined samples with a predominant presence of linoleic acid, except in the case of buckwheat (oleic acid) grains. Uniformly, buckwheat grains stood out due to the predominance of triglycerides with an equivalent carbon number of fifty (ECN 50) or forty-eight (ECN 48). In contrast, other samples contained ECN 44 and ECN 46 TAGs as the most represented triglycerides. Based on the principal component analysis (PCA) and cluster statistical analysis results, there is no uniformity in the differences between organic and conventional production growing systems.

The production of organic spelt wheat in Serbia

AB  - Areas used for the production of organic plants have been permanently increasing for many years, both in the world and in Serbia. This type of agricultural production in Serbia was performed in the area of 14,357.96 ha, and the leading role belonged to cereals. Since great attention has been paid to spelt wheat in the production of organic food, the organic system of agricultural production has been distributed over ever larger areas. Therefore, the objectives of this study were to present data on the areas cultivated with this type of cereals in Serbia according to regional distribution in 2012, 2015 and 2016 provided by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republic of Serbia. Spelt wheat is cultivated on the area of 157.9 ha. The greatest areas are in Vojvodina (120.04 ha), followed by the areas in the south and Eastern Serbia (22.3 ha), Šumadija and western Serbia (14.1 ha), while the smallest production of organic spelt wheat is registered in Belgrade (only 1.5 ha). The varieties Nirvana and Ostro are the only spelt wheat varieties released in Serbia. Since spelt wheat has very good biological and agronomic traits, with the high nutritional and specific functional value of the grain, deserves more attention, particularly for growing within the organic farming system and production.
AB  - Površine pod organskom biljnom proizvodnjom već duži niz godina beleže kontinurano povećanje, kako u svetu, tako i u Srbiji. Ovaj vid poljoprivredne proizvodnje u Srbiji se odvija na ukupno 14.357,96 ha, pri čemu vodeću ulogu zauzimaju žita. S'obzirom na to da se za krupnik beleži sve veće interesovanje u proizvodnji zdravstveno bezbedne hrane, on u organskom sistemu poljoprivredne proizvodnje zauzima sve veće površine. U tom smislu, cilj ovog rada je bio da se prema podacima Ministarstva poljoprivrede, šumarstva i vodoprivrede Republike Srbije, prikažu podaci o proizvodnji u organskom sistemu gajenja ove vrste žita u Srbiji, prema regionalnoj raspodeli za 2012, 2015 i 2016. godinu. U proseku, za ovaj vremenski period, krupnik se proizvodio na površini od 157,9 ha. Najveće površine bile su zastupljene u regionu Vojvodine (120,04 ha), a zatim slede južna i istočna Srbija (22,3 ha), Šumadija i zapadna Srbija (14,1 ha). Na područiju beogradske opštine, krupnik se proizvodio na svega 1,5 ha. Jedine dve priznate sorte u Srbiji su Nirvana i Ostro. S obzirom na to da krupnik poseduje veoma dobre biološke i agronomske osobine, to ga čini naročito pogodnim za gajenje u organskom sistemu poljoprivredne proizvodnje.

Effects of production methods on the mycotoxin content in seeds of maize, spelt wheat and soya bean

AB  - Mycotoxins naturally contaminate crops, especially cereals and food used daily. In organic agricultural production, with the purpose of protecting crops against pathogens and weeds, the application of synthetic pesticides is not allowed, due to which crops are exposed to greater contamination with mycotoxins. In this regard, the aim of the study was to observe the content of mycotoxins in seeds of maize, spelt wheat and soya bean organically and conventionally produced in 2015, 2016 and 2017. Seed samples were analysed for the presence of deoxynivalenol, zearalenone and aflatoxins B1, B2, G1 and G2 (by using methods liquid chromatography - HPLC/DAD and HPLC/FLD). It was established that the highest number of samples was not positive for the presence of these mycotoxins. Deoxynivalenol (101.53 μg/kg) and aflatoxin B1 (1.16 μg/kg) were detected only in seeds of organic maize produced in 2015 in concentrations less than prescribed by the Regulation on the maximum allowable residues of pesticides in food and feed, and on feed and food for which the maximum allowable residue content is determined, Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia No. 22/2018 and 90/2019. On the basis of the obtained results, since only one sample of organic maize seed was positive for the presence of mycotoxins, it can be concluded that different production methods did not significantly effect to the content of mycotoxins in investigated types of seeds.

AB  - Usled izuzetno povoljnih prehrambenih, medicinskih i agronomskih karakteristika, kao i povoljnog hemijskog sastava semena koje je u skladu sa najsavremenijim nutritionističkim zahtevima, proizvodnja spelte dobija sve veći značaj, naročito u organskoj proizvodnji hrane. Veoma važan nutritivni faktor namirnica predstavlja sadržaj masnih kiselina u njima, neophodnih za pravilno funkcionisanje ljudskog organizma. Cilj ovog rada bio je da GC-FID metodom ispita sadržaj masnih kiselina u organskom i konvencionalnom semenu spelte, poreklom iz 2015 i 2016. godine. Sadržaj masnih kiselina izražen je kao % sadržaj u odnosu na ukupne masne kiseline. Detektovano je deset masnih kiselina. Kod obe vrste semena, u najvećoj količini se nalaze linolna (C18:2n-6) i oleinska (C18:1n-9) kiselina. Najveći udeo polinezasićenih masnih kiselina sadrži seme konvencionalne spelte (59.46 %), dok se u organskom semenu iz 2016. godine nalazio najveći udeo zasićenih (18.33 %) i mononezasićenih masnih kiselina (26.71 %).
AB  - Due to the extremely favorable nutritional, medical and agronomic characteristics, as well as the favorable chemical composition of seed which is in accordance with the current nutritional requirements, spelt production is gaining increasing importance, especially in organic food production. The fatty acids (FAs) content is a very important nutritional factor. Adequate FAs daily intake is necessary for the proper functioning of the human body. The aim of this paper was to examine fatty acids content in organic and conventional spelt seeds produced during 2015 and 2016 year. GC-FID method was used for FAs determination. FAs content is expressed as % of content in relation to the total fatty acids. Ten fatty acids were detected. Both types of seeds contained linoleic (C18:2n-6) and oleic acid (C18:1n-9) as predominant. Conventional spelt seed possessed higher content of polyunsaturated fatty acids (59.46 %) while organic seed from 2016 contained higher amount of saturated (18.33 %) and monounsaturated fatty acids (26.71 %).

Production potential of buckwheat in Šumadija on brown forest soil type

AB  - The aim of this study was to examine the influence of NPK fertilization and between row spacing on the growth, development and grain yield of buckwheat (cultivar Novosadska). Field microexperiments were conducted during the 2018 in the agroecological conditions of the central Šumadija (locality Rača Kragujevačka), on brown forest soil type (Eutric Cambisol), according to the Split plot plane in four repetitions. The area of the main plot was 90.0 m2, and the areas of the subplots were 3.0 m2, when sowing was carried out on the 25 cm row distance, and 6.0 m2, when sowing was carried out on 50 cm row distance. The applied amounts of fertilizers expressed in kg ha-1 of active substance were: Control (unfertilized), NPK 30:30:30, NPK 60:60:60 and NPK 90:90:90. Standard agrotechnological measures were applied, as for the regular production of buckwheat. The obtained results showed a significantly stronger effect of NPK fertilization on the examined parameters in comparison with the size of the vegetation area. When NPK nutrients were used in the largest quantity (NPK 90:90:90), compared to unfertilized variants, a plant height was increased by 16.9%, a number of fruits were increased by 72.5% and a grain yield per ha was higher by 40.5%. When the buckwheat was sown at a larger row distance (50 cm), a plant height was increased by 3.3%, but a grain yield was decreased by 2.3% compared to the dense sowing of the plant (25 cm). The number of fruits per plant did not significantly differ depending on the row distance.

AB  - Organska poljoprivreda, kao deo sistema održive poljoprivrede, omogućava proizvodnju
visokokvalitetne i zdravstveno bezbedne hrane. U Srbiji se pojavila devedesetih godina prošlog veka i
uspela da održi trend pozitivnog rasta do današnjih dana. U radu je, prema poslednjim podacima
Ministarstva poljoprivrede i zaštite životne sredine, izvršen pregled stanja organske proizvodnje u Srbiji,
prema kojem ukupne površine sa organskim statusom i periodom konverzije iznose 14.358 ha, od čega
12.929 ha pripada obradivom zemljištu, a 1429 ha livadama i pašnjacima. Najveću zastupljenost imaju
žita 4.607 ha), voće (3.531 ha), a zatim industrijsko (2.918 ha) i krmno bilje (1.349 ha). Ovaj vid
proizvodnje se najvećim delom odvija u Vojvodini (7.706 ha), a zatim u Južnoj i Istočnoj Srbiji (4.650
ha). Do sada je na osnovu izveštaja ovlašćenih kontrolnih organizacija u Srbiji registrovano 390
organskih proizvođača.
