AB - This investigation provides an important insight into the Central and Eastern European food industry, beyond traditional food safety management and reflects on its food safety (FS) climate or the human route of its FS culture. Investigation was conducted in 10 Central and Eastern European countries involving more than 500 food companies. Overall FS climate was assessed as good. The availability of infrastructure was perceived the same in all countries although "resources" was the lowest scored climate component. Uncertainty avoiding national cultures had a stronger preference towards written FS procedures and instructions. FS climate was better assessed in bigger companies because small companies observed weaker availability of resources, smaller number of procedures and instructions and reduced risk awareness. FS communication and commitment were not affected by company size. The share of food companies without FS system was five times higher in small compared to big companies. No effect of FS management level or riskiness level on FS climate scores was apparent. Food companies seemed to avoid problems in cooperation and trust between FS leaders and other employees, since they have perceived FS climate similarly. The strongest FS climate segmentation in Central and Eastern Europe food companies was observed in terms of the EU membership status. EU operating food companies managed to develop a very good and distinctive FS climate, with better-perceived leadership, communication, commitment, resources and risk awareness than non-EU food companies. Transitional economic environment of non-EU countries have undesirably influenced the organisational and technological support in their companies and employees perceptions of FS climate.

AB - Important insight into the Central and Eastern European food industry, beyond traditional food safety (FS) management and reflects on its food safety climate or the human route of its food safety culture is provided. Novel FS climate self-assessment tool was developed and validated by 65 FS experts from governmental agencies, third party certification bodies, food sector associations, universities and food industry. Three original FS climate components: FS knowledge, business priorities and FS legislation, were introduced and their nine components were assessed in nine Central and Eastern European countries involving 470 food companies. FS knowledge was better assessed in big and medium sized than in small companies. Knowledge component was equally assessed as good, irrespective of the FS risk profile of the food company surveyed while certified FS management system was charted by higher FS knowledge scores within a same food company. Business priorities in Central and Eastern European food organizations were related to hygiene and food safety and were always put before profit regardless of the company size. Hygiene and food safety were seen equality as a critical business success factor irrespective of the associated level of riskiness. FS climate legislation component in all food organizations surveyed was assessed affirmatively. Central and Eastern European food companies seemed to avoid problems in cooperation and trust between food safety leaders and other employees, since they have perceived FS climate highly and similarly. EU operating food companies had comparable overall FS climate to non-EU companies mostly because they have equally perceived their business priorities and appropriateness of associated FS legislation. The only exception was the FS knowledge that was better assessed in EU than non-EU food enterprises.

AB - This research analysed attitudes related to food waste sustainability and estimated amounts of animal origin food waste and food packaging waste discarded in Serbia. The field survey covered 494 respondents from Belgrade, Serbia. Results present their degree of agreement with nine selected food waste sustainability statements and their reported quantities of discarded animal origin food waste and food packaging waste. Our study showed respondents have a higher rate of agreement related to the negative social and environmental dimensions of food waste, while they have no opinions associated with the economic dimensions. Regarding animal origin food waste quantities, it is estimated that households dispose around 200 g of waste every week (11.3 kg per year) and slightly under 30 different pieces of food packaging. On an annual basis, 7,234 tons of CO2 emissions can be associated with animal origin food waste and 706.4 tons with food packaging waste in Serbia.

AB - This paper analyzes the economic effectiveness of vegetable production in a protected area in terms and in a manner that is characteristic of the analyzed area (Bijeljina, Bosnia and Herzegovina). Dynamic methods for evaluating the economic feasibility of the investment were applied to two models of vegetables production in greenhouses. Models represent completely alternative investments, so the choice between them is based on the net present value. Economic justification under risk conditions was checked using the scenario analysis. The results of the survey indicate that the investments in both models are justified both in optimal and risky production conditions. The model that includes the production of two crops is economically more efficient than the production of one crop per year. The same model will take precedence also in risky production conditions, as indicated by the higher expected net present value and lower value of the coefficient of variation.

AB - Raspberry is the most important kind of berries and specific in many of its characteristics - biological properties, economic importance, agro-ecological, technological and organizational requirements, the market value of the product, as well as very high interdependence and correlation between the individual phases of the reproductive cycle. Due to its extremely pleasant smell and taste and high nutritional value, raspberry represents a very esteemed and sought fruit which has a high price in the world market and is very suitable for processing. In addition to financial effect, the cultivation of raspberries enables recruitment of labour force, which is in our economic situation of great socio-economic importance, especially in the mountainous regions of Serbia. Based on real data examples, this paper analyzes the economic profitability of this production. Investments in the establishment and cultivation of a raspberry plantation under irrigation amount to 12.140 €/ha. In the production of raspberries a very favourable annual financial result (profit) in the amount of 9300 €/ha is achieved, production is very cost-effective, accumulation is significant (about 77%) and return on equity is in the second year of exploitation. The established economic and financial results show that the production of raspberries is very profitable.
PR Projekat Ministarstva nauke Republike Srbije, br. AB - The aim of this paper is to determine the economic viability of the electronic warehouse receipt registry introduction, as a step toward electronic warehouse receipts. Both forms of warehouse receipt paper and electronic exist in practice, but paper warehouse receipts are more widespread. In this paper, the dematerialization process is analyzed in two steps. The first step is the dematerialization of warehouse receipt registry, with warehouse receipts still in paper form. The second step is the introduction of electronic warehouse receipts themselves. Dematerialization of warehouse receipts is more complex than that for financial securities, because of the individual characteristics of each warehouse receipt. As a consequence, electronic warehouse receipts are in place for only to a handful of commodities, namely cotton and a few grains. Nevertheless, the movement towards the electronic warehouse receipt, which began several decades ago with financial securities, is now taking hold in the agricultural sector. In this paper is analyzed Serbian electronic registry, since the Serbia is first country in EU with electronic warehouse receipts registry donated by FAO. Performed analysis shows the considerable impact of electronic warehouse receipts registry establishment on enhancing the security of the system of public warehouses, and on advancing the trade with warehouse receipt.
Analize u ovom radu pokazuju značajan uticaj elektronske evidencije robnih zapisa na povećanje sigurnosti sistema javnih skladišta i unapređenje trgovanja robnim zapisima. AB - The goal of this paper is to analyse optimal nitrogen rate in corn production that will produce maximal profitability. Main objective of corn production is high and stabile yield and consequently generating maximum return for the producer. In order to achieve this, an adequate set of agrotechnical measures has to be applied in the production process. Application of optimal quantity of nitrogen is important in order to increase profitability from corn production, and second, to avoid environmental pollution. During period 2005-2007 a research was conducted to determine influence of nitrogen application rate (control -without fertilisation, PKNfon, PKN60, PKN120 and PKN180) and different FAO group hybrids (ZP-SC 434, ZP-SC 578 and ZP-SC 677) on production profitability. Increase of nitrogen fertilizer tended to raise grain yield. In a dry year of 2005, high additional return of 257.04 $/ha was with nitrogen fertilization rate of 120 kg/ha. The highest return in 2006 and 2007, was with moderate nitrogen rate of 60 kg/ha. Despite yield increase, excessive use of nitrogen can result in decrease of gross return due to rise in fertilization costs, which happened in 2007 where use of 180 kg/ha resulted in a loss of 210 $/ha.

AB - One of the most important problems that arise in the realization of any project and especially complex projects is contractor choice optimization of all its activities. The term choice optimization presumes the selection of such contractors that will perform their activities, and thus the whole project, on schedule and at minimum cost. This paper analyzes these problems in detail and shows how they can be presented using models of combinatorial parametric optimization. Since the majority of algorithms for resolving these models is inconvenient for practical application, this paper recommends a modified PERT-COST algorithm for cost minimization of project realization based on its lead time.

AB - Agriculture production today has character of mass production based on modern level of techniques and technology development. But, problem can arise in the area of selling these products especially in fruitful season. To assure a goal of stable production and enterprise development, it is very important to know what demands of market are. Marketing as business philosophy, in the focus of its interest Puts consideration and analysis of all problems related to production, price, distribution and promotion of goods on relation from producers to consumers and vice versa. It is well known that marketing orientation is especially important for small agricultural producer-SME's and semi-subsistence farms in the process of planning of production and development.
