AB  - In this paper, authors aim to show the significance of agriculture in the economic structure and economic development of transition countries. The role of agriculture is undoubtable in the economic development of transition countries particularly because agriculture represents an important branch of economy in former socialist systems, but also of the structural reform in agrarian sector. Special emphasis is placed on the analysis of indicators of significance for agriculture in economic structure and economic development of individual transition countries. The analysis includes transition countries of the EU, Western Balkan countries and the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The analyzed data refers to the period from 1989 until today, with results created for shorter periods for comparison.
AB  - U ovom radu cilj autora je da ukažu na značaj poljoprivrede u ekonomskoj strukturi i za ekonomski razvoj zemalja u tranziciji. Kada je u pitanju razvoj zemalja u tranziciji, uloga poljoprovrede je nesporna, naročito zbog toga što poljoprivreda predstavlja važnu granu ekonomije bivših socijalističkih sistema, ali i strukturnih reformi agrarnog sektora. Poseban naglasak je na analizi pokazatelja značaja poljoprovrede u privrednoj strukturi i za privredni razvoj pojedinih zemalja u tranziciji. Analiza obuhvata zemlje EU koje su u tranziciji, zemlje Zapadnog Balkana i države članice Zajednice nezavisnih država. Analizirani podaci odnose se na period od 1989. do danas, a rezultati su kreirani za kraće periode radi poređenja.

AB  - Poverty is a complex phenomenon faced by youth too. The purpose of this research is to determine the presence of the problem of poverty among youth in rural areas of Serbia. Survey has been conducted in five villages of Paraćin municipality. Exactly 98 young men and women took part in the survey, ages between 20 and 34, and they were asked to answer questions regarding poverty, to estimate their own poverty, and their own social exclusion. Desk research was supplemented with empirical research in the mentioned areas. Results of research conducted in the field are represented in the second part of this paper. In order to perceive the position and poverty of youth, their satisfaction with their living environment, and social exclusion of youth, we relied on the questionnaire that enables expressing subjective welfare. Data obtained through research indicate that one in ten subjects of the survey is poor. The surveyed subjects belonging to the oldest age group (30-34 years of age) and residents of settlements in the vicinity of municipality’s center are in a more unfavorable position. Survey results show that the young in rural areas have been facing the problem of their own poverty to a great extend during their lives. Social exclusion was recorded with 42% of the subjects, who claimed that they had felt isolated from the community at some point in the past two years, due to lack of money.

AB  - This paper considered the phenomenon of social exclusion and the period of its introduction by numerous participants in Serbia. The research of this phenomenon is accompanied by the analysis of unemployment, poverty and exclusion, regarding the access to education and health services in rural areas, as a quality indicator of the situation in Serbia. The aim of this research was attained by over viewing the position of social exclusion in the scientific and institutional frameworks, as well as its presence in Serbia. The survey was conducted both on the basis of official statistics in Serbia together with official statistics of European institutions with consideration of documents, official statements and previous researches. The results are presented through a number of indicators of social exclusion in rural areas, which are in some segments compared with urban areas.
AB  - Kroz ovaj rad razmatran je fenomen socijalne isključenosti i period njegovog uvođenja u upotrebu od strane brojnih aktera u Srbiji. Kretanje ove pojave praćeno je analizom dimenzija nezaposlenosti, siromaštva i izopštenosti iz pristupa obrazovanju i zdravstvenim uslugama u ruralnim područjima, kao kvalitetnom pokazatelju stanja u Srbiji. Sagledavanjem položaja socijalne isključenosti u naučnim i institucionalnim okvirima, kao i njene prisutnosti u Srbiji, ispunjen je cilj ovog istraživanja. Istraživanje je sprovedeno na osnovu zvaničnih statističkih podataka Srbije i evropskih institucija, kao i kroz razmatranje dokumenata, zvaničnih saopštenja i prethodno vršenih istraživanja. Rezultati su prezentovani kroz veliki broj pokazatelja socijalne isključenosti za ruralna područja, koja su u određenim segmentima i poređena sa urbanim područjima.
