AB - In this study the characterization of FeCo-2V alloys toroidal samples produced by PIM/MIM technology was presented. The feedstock for metal injection molding (MIM) was prepared by mixing starting FeCoV powder with a low viscosity binder. Green samples were subjected to solvent debinding and subsequent thermal debinding followed by sintering. Sintering was performed during 3.5 hours from 1370 degrees C to 1460 degrees C in hydrogen atmosphere in order to attain the appropriate mechanical and magnetic properties. Microstructure, hardness HV10 and magnetic hysteresis B(H) were investigated as a function of sintering temperature. Optimum combination of functional properties was observed after sintering at temperature of 1370 degrees C. In addition, magnetic properties were analyzed as frequency dependent and successfully simulated in operating frequency range from 5 Hz to 60 Hz.

AB - The aim of this paper was mechanochemical preparation of magnesium titanates. Powder mixtures of starting oxides MgO and TiO2 were mechanically activated in a planetary ball mill for the time interval from 0 to 160 minutes. Structural, stereological, thermal characterizations were performed on produced powders. The effects of activation on morphology were investigated by scanning electron microscopy and particle size analyses, while the changes in the phase composition were determined by X-ray diffraction. It is determined that the first traces of MgTiO3 became detectable after 40 minutes of milling, while after 160 minutes the pure magnesium titanates were noticed. The differential thermal analyses and thermo gravimetric analysis, in temperatures range from 25 oC to 1100 oC, has been performed in order to investigate thermal behavior of the mixtures.

AB - In this article, the advantages of combined sintering in comparison with the conventional one, of mechanically activated magnesium titanate ceramic were investigated. The stoichiometric mixtures of MgO and TiO2 were mechano-chemically activated for 0, 10, 40, 80 and 160 minutes by ball milling and then isostatically pressed (CIP) to form green bodies. Conventional sintering was realized by heating up to 1400 degrees C and hold for 30 minutes in air atmosphere. Resulting ceramic samples with closed porosity were post-sintered by pressure assisted technique Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) at 1280 degrees C/3h in argon atmosphere with a pressure of 200 MPa. The best results were observed in the case of samples post-sintered by HIP, when single-phase MgTiO3 samples with relative density of 96% were prepared.

AB - A nanostructured Ni-Fe-W powder was obtained by electrodeposition from ammonium citrate electrolyte within the current density range of 500-1000 mA cm(-2) at the electrolyte temperature of 50 degrees C -70 degrees C. XRD analysis shows that the powder contains an amorphous matrix having embedded nanocrystals of the FCC solid solution of iron and tungsten in nickel, with an average crystal grain size of 3.4 nm, a high internal microstrain value and a high density of chaotically distributed dislocations. EDS analysis exhibits that the chemical composition of the Ni-24%Fe-11%W powder does not depend upon current density and electrolyte temperature due to the diffusion control of the process of code-position of nickel, iron and tungsten. SEM micrographs show that the electrodeposition results in the formation of two particle shapes: large cauliflower-like particles and small dendrite particles. The cauliflower-like particles contain deep cavities at hydrogen evolution sites. Cavity density increases with increasing deposition current density. Smaller powder particles are formed at higher temperatures and at higher current densities. During the first heating, relative magnetic permeability decreases reaching the Curie temperature at about 350 degrees C and after cooling exhibits a 12% increase due to the performed relaxation process. Following the second heating to 500 degrees C, the magnetic permeability of the powder is about 5% lower than that of the as-prepared powder due to crystallization of the amorphous phase of the powder and the crystal grain growth in FCC phase.

AB - In this article the influence of mechanical activation on sintering process of magnesium-titanate and barium-zinc-titanate ceramics has been investigated. Both non-activated and mixtures treated in planetary ball mill for 80 minutes were sintered at 1100 degrees C and 1300 degrees C. The influence of mechanical activation on phase composition and crystal structure has been analyzed by XRD, while the effect of activation and sintering process on microstructure was investigated by scanning electron microscopy. It has been established that temperature of 1100 degrees C was to low to induce final sintering stage for both systems. Moreover, we concluded that barium-zinc-titanate ceramics exhibited better sinterability than magnesium-titanate ceramics.

AB - The aim of this work was an investigation of structural and electrical properties of sintered zinc-titanate ceramics obtained by mechanical activation. Mixtures of ZnO and TiO(2) were mechanically activated in a planetary ball mill up to 90 min and sintered isothermally in air for 120 min at 1100 degrees C. The phase composition in the ZnO-TiO(2) system after milling and sintering was analyzed using the XRD method. Microstructure analyses were performed using SEM. The results of electric resistivity, capacitance and loss tangent of the sintered samples were obtained. The existence of zinc-titanate as a dielectric was proved (epsilon(r) = 12.5, Q = 386.1, tg delta = 0.0026, rho = 1.02 Omega m).
