AB - The research was carried out at University of Belgrade Faculty of Agriculture experimental station “Radmilovac” on table grape Victoria cv with aim to improve grape quality and with consideration the introduction of these ampelographic measures in regular grapevine growing.
The research included two treatments of berry thinning (thinning bunch tip - BtT and first lateral wink -BtW), girdling (G) and control (C). Combined effect of berry thinning and girdling were not examined. The following features were examined: fertility and yield, bunch and berry dimensions, bunch and berry structure, sugar content and total acidity.
The thinning treatments did not have significant effect on uvometric parameters and grape quality, but they improved the yield by 41.7% (BtW) and 51.4% (BtT) in comparison to the control. It can be explained by bad fruit set influenced by unfavourable meteorological conditions during flowering in control treatment. Berry thinning achieves a better fruit set. Berry thinning should be applied as a regular ampelographic measure according to weather conditions during flowering phonological stage.
Results confirm the positive influence of girdling. The yield was increased by 88,34% compared to control, berries had a higher diameter (for about 1mm with respect to control), fruit set and bunch mass were in higher level against other treatments, sugar content (17,00%), total acidity (5,75 g/L) were improved too.
Girdling can be introduced as a regular ampelographic measure in the table cultivars vineyards, in order to obtain higher yields and better quality of table grape.

AB - The variety Prokupac is the dominant variety in the vineyards of Southern Serbia, which produces quality wines of characteristic and unique tastes. In the agroecological conditions of the Prokuplje vine district, the influence of manual defoliation on the phenolic profile of the wine produced from the variety Prokupac was examined. Four experimental treatments with different timings of manual defoliation were applied: early defoliation—treatment I, early defoliation— treatment II, late defoliation—treatment III and the control. The phenolic profile of the wine was determined for the three treatments of defoliation and the control treatment. Additionally, a multivariate analysis was applied on the obtained results, together with already published data (grape seeds and skins phenolic profiles). Identification and quantification of the phenolic compounds was performed using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) with an ultraviolet multi-diode detector (DAD) and mass detector with three analyzers—triple quadrupole (QQQ). Based on the obtained results, it was determined that there are significant differences between the experimental treatments in the content of individual polyphenols, total polyphenols and the antioxidant capacity. Twenty (20) phenolic compounds were identified in the wine samples of the experimental treatments. Defoliation significantly affected the variations of the contents of phenolic acids and flavonoids. In treatment III, the highest content of gallic acid was obtained, while the treatments with early defoliation did not differ in relation to the control sample. Early defoliation in treatments I and II had an effect on the phenolic composition of the wine by favoring the accumulation of flavonol, while the content of hydroxycinnamic acid and total anthocyanins (TAC) was higher in treatment III. The TAC increases with later defoliation. The wines obtained by the defoliation treatments did not show higher antioxidant activity compared to the control sample. A principal component analysis resulted in clustering of the samples based on the phenolic components characteristic for each group of samples.

AB - Growing interest in Serbia in adaptation of viticulture to climate change emerged from a recorded positive impact of summer increased draught on domestic wine quality. Another motivation is that viticulture has been recognized as one of the fastest developing agricultural sectors in Serbia and, to contain its growing potential, it is crucial to provide basis for its future sustainable development. Prioritization and implementation of adaptation measures in practice require reliable assessment of climate projections. For climate change impact assessment is used high resolution multi-model ensemble of nine regional climate models simulations, bias corrected, with two most probable future scenarios of GHG emissions RCP4.5 and RCP8.5, for the period 2016-2100. Analysis has been done for the near future, mid-century and end of the century periods. The periods are defined according to the IPCC 5th Assessment Report, which enables comparison of climate change impacts with a wider region, and preferably motivate future international collaboration and knowledge exchange.

AB - Phenolic profiles of young monovarietal white and red wines from the Central Serbia were investigated. Quantification of phenolics was done using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) coupled with a diode array detector and a triple-quadrupole mass spectrometer. Generally, red wines were characterised with higher phenolics content when compared to the white wines. This applies also for the total phenolics content (TPC) and radical scavenging activity (RSA) values. Among all the samples, the red wine from autochthonous Serbian variety Prokupac' stood out with unique composition, showing the highest TPC, RSA and the highest concentration of the individual phenolics. Finally, based on a specific phenolic pattern, principal component analysis (PCA) indicated clustering of red and white wines, with the Prokupac' as a prominent outlier. [GRAPHICS] .

AB - Twenty-five Prokupac clones were included in the research. The aim of this study was to: examine the variability of morphological traits within the clone collection, calculate the correlation among characteristics, detect associations among clones, identify the most useful variables for discrimination among clones and recommend clones suitable for further exploitation. Statistical analysis was performed based on the average values obtained from a three year long period. Relationship among the traits was presented with a correlation analysis which was done by using Pearson correlation coefficients. Cluster analysis was performed by applying Ward's method and Euclidean distances. The overall mean values showed high level of morphological variability. The highest level of variation was found in the number of berry seeds. Based on cluster analysis clones divided into three clusters I, II and III which include 7, 12 and 6 clones, respectively. Maximum Euclidean distance was observed between the clones 42/2 and 43/8, and minimum distance was observed between the clones 40/8 and 43/7. Parameters with high discriminating values were those related to bunch and berry size and structure. Most clones are perspective for further investigation and vine production, clones 40/4, 41/1 and 43/8 have large bunches and can be recommended as consummation grape.

AB - Phenolic profile of 13 grapevine varieties was determined, with respect to three different parts of berries: skin, seed and pulp. Identification and quantification of the phenols was done using ultra -high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) coupled with a diode array detector and a triple-quadrupole mass spectrometer. The most abundant phenols in grape seeds were found to be flavan-3-ols, most of which are gallocatechin gallate and catechin. The skins were characterized mostly by flavonols, i.e. quercetin and myricetin. Characterization of anthocyanins in the berry skin by UHPLC coupled with Linear Trap Quadrupole and OrbiTrap mass analyzer revealed a total of twenty derivatives of malvidin, delphinidin, petunidin, cyanidin, and peonidin. To the extent of our knowledge this is the first work that shows the presence of malvidin 3,5-0-dihexoside in the berry skin of 'Merlof, 'Cabernet Franc', 'Shiraz' 'Sangiovese', 'Pinot Noir' and 'Prokupac', untypical for Vitis vinifera Linneo species.

AB - We investigated the effect of two different inter-row vineyard floor management practices. These were the permanently cultivated soil and the inter-row sward sawn with a mixture of regularly mown grasses. The experimental vineyard was planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and was located in the wine region of Central Serbia. The study was conducted during the 2011 and 2012 seasons, and the observed variables included soil and vine water status, growth, yield and fruit quality. Our results clearly indicate a lower soil moisture content in the grass sward treatment. The same treatment was also characterised with a lower stem water potential (psi(stem)). The psi(stem) values measured before and after veraison (from -0.6 to -0.8 MPa) indicate a presence of mild to moderate water stress in grapevines under the inter-row sward treatment. The same treatment was also characterised with an increased accumulation of the fruit total soluble solids (TSS), amounting 24.8 degrees Brix in 2011. and 27.8 degrees Brix in 2012. Furthermore, the concentration of total polyphenols was increased in the same treatment (1124.63 mg L-1 GEA in 2011 and 117038 mg L-1 GEA in 2012). The concentration of anthocyanins in the berry skin was also increased in this treatment (9.83 mg g(-1) FW in 2011 and 13.45 mg g(-1) FW in 2012). The inter-row sward treatment was associated with a lower grapevine vigour, reduced by 36% in 2011 and 46% in 2012. In the same treatment, the grape yield, and cluster and berry weight were not significantly reduced. The seasonal meteorological conditions have exhibited a significant influence on the fruit phenolic composition. The seasonal effect was particularly evident in the content of gallocatehin, naringenin and vanillin, where the 2011 season had a larger content of these compounds within both experimental treatments. Moreover, the 5-O-caffeoylquinic acid, resveratrol, umbeliferone and apigenin were detected only in the samples from the 2011 season. The berry samples from the cultivated inter-row treatment were found to have a higher content of catechin, quercetin, and quercetin 3-O-galactoside in the berry skin. Maintaining the mown inter-row sward as a vineyard floor management practice had shown a significant influence on indicators of vegetative growth and thus it represents a powerful tool to control the vegetative growth in Cabernet Sauvignon, when grown in the conditions characterised by moderately continental climate with a low risk of drought in the flowering to anthesis period.

AB - The grape yield per vine of cv. Cabernet Sauvignon (Vitis vinifera L.) was evaluated on the basis of digital image processing of vine part. Digital camera was mounted on tripod and used for taking photos of 1 x 1 m portions of canopy. The Adobe Photoshop software was used to analyse image for the colour counting of the blue pixels of grape in the quadrant region. The actual yield was obtained from the photographed vines by hand harvesting of sampled portions. Linear regression was used for calculation of the correlation between blue pixels and grape weight. The relatively strong relationship between blue pixels and grape weight (R2=0.91) was obtained. Based on these results, we can recommend this simple technique for yield forecasting.

AB - The objective of this study was to evaluate diversity and relationships among grapevine cultivars from the Serbian gene bank in Sremski Karlovci, and to identify the most useful variables for discrimination. A total of 54 grapevine cultivars have been studied. During the period 2000-2005, twelve quantitative and qualitative characteristics were evaluated using OIV categories to each trait. Characterization was done using multivariate statistical analyses: cluster and principal component analysis (PCA), Based on cluster analysis cultivars divided into three major groups and the clustering pattern was related to the classical eco-geographical grouping: occidentalis, pontica and orientalis. Beside geographic origin clustering position of cultivars throughout the dendrogram was related to main uses. The major part (70.1%) of the total variation presented was explained by four principal components. PC1 is highly correlated with the bunch and berry size and PC2 with the density of prostrate hairs of young shoot tip and the density of prostrate hairs between veins on the lower side of mature leaf. The overall arrangement of cultivars suggests considerable phenotypical (and presumably genetic) variability in studied germplasm collection. Furthermore, obtained results may be useful for further utilization of available genetic resources in gene bank managers, growing and breeding.

AB - Reference genetic profiles were generated for 12 traditional grapevine cultivars of Serbia through a genotyping approach that included the "core set" of 9 SSR markers for genetic identification and further 13 common microsatellites for strengthening genetic relationship analysis. Consistent matching with SSR markers of grapevines cultivated in neighbouring countries or maintained in European germplasm collections was found for most of the genotypes, suggesting possible synonyms and revealing that 'Muskat Krokan' corresponds to 'Muscat fleur d'Oranger' and two 'Tamjanika' cultivars are identical to 'Moscato Giallo' and 'Moscato Rosa'. When compared with germplasm representing the classical eco-geographic grouping of grapevine cultivars, Serbian non-Muscat genotypes clustered within the Convar pontica subconvar balcanica taxon thus supporting their indigenous origin.

AB - The purpose of this paper was to characterize the clones obtained from Kreaca, autochthonous grapevine cultivar of Banat. Based on examination of 6 important biological and technological properties, phenotypic and genetic divergence of 28 selected clones was established. The divergence was determined using ANOVA and hierarchical cluster analysis. Using variance analysis, for grape weight, yield, total acid content, sugar content and sugar/acid ratio very significant or significant differences were obtained between clones. The UPGA method was used and the Euclidean distance in order to determine the difference between the groups. Two clone groups were obtained on the dendrogram. The objective of clone differentiation was primarily cluster weight, although other properties were taken into account as well. As the most perspective clones for further investigation and production, that can be recommended, were clones 12/5/5, 56/11/7 and 69/11/7.
Primenom ELISA testa kod svih ispitivanih klonova nije utvrđeno prisustvo sledećih ekonomski značajnih virusa: Nepovirus Grapevine fanleaf virus (GFLV), clostero virusa, Grapevine leafroll-associated virus 1(GLRaV-1), Grapevine leafroll-associated virus 2(GLRaV-2) i Grapevine leafroll-associated virus 3(GLRaV-3). Prvu grupu čine 11 a drugu 17 klonova.

AB - The effect of pruning severity on quercetin and catechin content in berry skins of cv. Blaufrankisch (Vitis vinifera L.) was studied over 3 years. Different crop levels and canopy structures were obtained by retaining 8, 16, and 24 nodes per vine at pruning. Canopy density, which is proportionate to the shoot number per canopy volume, directly affects the intensity of photosynthetically active radiation (PAR). The quercetin content has been shown to be highly dependent on the light exposure of the berries in which it accumulates. An increase in node number linearly decreased skin catechin, and it is suggested that the decrease was caused by increased yield per vine.

AB - This paper evaluates the application of a statistical model to estimate leaf surface area in grapevines, expressed as leaf area of an individual leaf as well as total leaf area per shoot, including any lateral shoots. Estimating the area of an individual leaf was based on a formula obtained by regression analysis that uses the sum of length of two inferior leaf veins as an independent variable. To estimate the leaf area per main shoot and per lateral shoot we used the model derived from multiple regression analysis that has the following independent variables: the number of leaves, and surface area of the largest and of the smallest leaf on the shoot. High values of the coefficient of determination (r(2)), as well as satisfactory levels of mean absolute error (MAE), suggest that the applied models appear valid. These results have shown a good fit of observed and predicted values of shoot and lateral leaf areas.

AB - The inheritance of level of susceptibility to three fungal diseases caused by Plasmopara viticola, Oidium tuckeri, and Botrytis cinerea was investigated in seedlings of an F-1 population obtained by crossing Vitis vinifera 'Drenak crveni' and 'Dattier de Beyrouth'. The occurrence of diseases symptoms was observed on leaves and berries and its intensity was estimated according to the O.I.V. descriptors. Unless a quantitative variation was observed, if seedlings of different O.I.V. classes are group into two main categories of susceptible and tolerant individuals, a monogenic inheritance of a major genetic factor for disease susceptibility could be hypothesized for the observed diseases.

AB - In this paper has been showed an investigation of validity for using statistical model for estimations of single leaf area, primary and lateral leaf area. Estimation of single leaf area is based on equation gained with linear regression analyses which used sum of two lateral leaf vein lengths as independent variable. For estimation of primary and lateral shoot leaf area, a tree variable model is proposed: main leaf number and area of the major and minor leaves on base multiple regression analysis. A very high values of coefficient of determination (R2) and satisfactory values of main absolute error (MAE) was confirmed validity of using of proposed model and good agreement between observed and estimated values of shoot leaf area. .
Visoke vrednosti koeficijenta determinacije (R2) i zadovoljavajuća vrednost srednje apsolutne greške (sag) su potvrdile validnost primene primenjenih modela i dobro poklapanje izmerenih i izračunatih vrednosti površina lastara i zaperaka. .

AB - The variability and mode of inheritance of young shoot tip, leaf, grape and berry morphological characteristics were investigated in F1 generation obtained by crossing of Drenak crveni and Afuz-ali. Based on seedlings description, considering investigated characteristics, grouping was done by applying O.I.V. method. The conclusions about inheritance of characteristics were obtained based on results of Hi2 test. The consider able variability was expressed in hybrid population. For properties of leaf characteristics (largeness, shape, dividity, and incisions), exception from typical monogenic ratio was determined. The monohybrid inheritance was determined in density of leaf hairs and downs. The monohybrid mode of inheritance was not confirmed in grape characteristics (largeness, compactness and stem length) and berry characteristics (largeness, shape and taste), while skin color is monogenic property.

AB - The content of heavy metals and radionuclides in grape berries of four cultivars (Vitis vinifera L): Afuz-ali, Black muskat, SV 18-315 and Pinot noir was investigated. The samples for this analyze originated from four locality with different distant from storage site of ashes that was produced in power plant Nikola Tesla – Obrenovac. Knowing a dimension of air pollution in the industrial area which is living area too, we set a goal to investigate a content of this element in grape berries that are table grape and source for processing. The obtained values was compared with values from Regulations of maximum levels for metals, metalloids and other contaminants in food (Yugoslav Official Register, No 5/92).

AB - The basic parameters of grape productivity and yield, as well as, of wine quality of Chardonnay clones BCL75 and VCR4 were investigated at different bud load levels. The increase in bud loads caused the decrease of the developed shoot percentage without significant changes in the percentage of productive shoots in both observed clones. The increase of bud loads caused the increase of the number of grape branches per vine and the decrease of productivity per bud, developed and productive shoot. At the lowest bud load (12 buds per vine) of the clone VCR4 the yield was low and sugar and total acids contents were high. The significantly increased yield, maintained aroma, high sugar and total acids contents in grape must were obtained at 24 and 36 buds per vine. Wine has a complex flavour and taste, it is exotically fruity and full bodied. A bud load from 12 to 24 buds per vine can be a recommended norm for the clone BCL75. Produced wines had herby flavour accompanied with fruit aroma on apple and peach, and very fresh flavour vivacited, balanced, with expressed aromatic fruit note. The poor wines with weak aroma were obtained at large bud loads and high yields.

AB - The effect of foliar application of plant growth regulators, paclobutrazol (1000 mg/L), chlorcholine chloride (200 mg/L) and gibberellic acid (100 mg/L) on leaf water status in grapevine graftlings of cv Cardinal was investigated. After stratification and waxing, young vines were planted into vegetation pots and grown in a glasshouse. Foliar treatments were applied once, twice or three times during the vegetative period, starting on 25 July and every 15 days thereafter. Values of total water potential (Tl) and of relative water content (RWC) were measured over the same period. Results indicate a tendency of increased TL values in leaves of plants repeatedly treated with a growth inhibitor paclobutrazol (-1.18 Mpa) compared with untreated (-1.36 Mpa) as well as plants treated twice with gibberellic acid (-1.37 Mpa). RWC in leaves was significantly increased in the second half of the vegetative period when paclobutrazol was applied twice (78%) in comparison with control (75%). Values of both investigated indices point to a more favorable water status of plants treated during the vegetative period with growth inhibitors compared with untreated and plants treated with gibberellic acid.

AB - Paclobutrazol (PB), chlormequat (CM), fenarimol (FM), and gibberellin A(3) (GA(3)) were applied as exogenous growth regulators once (1 x PB, 1 x CM, 1 x FM, 1 x GA(3)), twice (2 x PB, 2 x CM, 2 x FM, 2 x GA3) or three times (3 x PB, 3 x CM, 3 x FM, 3 x GA(3)) onto grafted grapevine rootlings of cv. Cardinal on Kober 5BB grown in nursery and in vegetative pots. Water was also applied at each application, at every 15 days, as the control (C). Application treatments 2 x PB and 3 x PB, as well as 2 x CM retarded shoot elongation and increased dry matter content in shoots. Treatments 3 x PB, 2 x CM and 3 x CM also significantly increased dry weight of roots in comparison to C. Repeated application of growth inhibitors ( PB and CM) significantly increased starch content in shoots when compared to C as well as to GA(3)-treated plants. A very strong correlation existed between the shoot sugar: starch ratio ( that was increased by 3 x CM and 2 x PB) and the percentage of first-grade graftlings. PB and CM significantly enhanced 'maturity' (defined here as giving a high rate of survival and reduced post damage) of grapevine graftlings. This is a very important quality attribute for their use as planting material.
