AB  - Buckwheat is an economically important gluten free cereal, and it is a good source of protein, fiber, and energy. The field experiments with buckwheat variety “Novosadska” were set in two experimental years in Pancevo, Serbia. The aim of this study was to determine the most optimal technology for buckwheat production. The study aims were to investigate the effects of (1) row spacing: RS1-25 cm and RS2-50 cm; (2) nutrition variants: (N1) 0 kg ha−1 NPK; (N2) NPK 30 kg ha−1; (N3) NPK 60 kg ha−1; and (N4) NPK 90 kg ha−1; (3) environment: Y1-2018 and Y2-2019; and their interactions on the plant height (PH), number of lateral branches (NoLB), mass of seeds per plant (MSP), number of seeds per plant (NoSP), buckwheat grain yield (GY); and (4) the correlations among these traits. All tested parameters of buckwheat significantly varied across row spacing, environment, and nutrition. The average grain yield in the row spacing, RD1-25 cm, was significantly higher than in the wider spacing, RD2-50 cm, and in 2018 than 2019 as well as with the nutrition NPK applied in the amount of 90 kg ha−1 in relation with all the other nutrition variants. All the studied agronomic traits were positively and strongly correlated with GY.

AB  - The aim of the research was determination the efficiency of application 50 t ha-1 digestate from the process of anaerobic digestion on the productivity of sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L.) on moderately degraded (calcic gleysol) and fertile (chernozem) agricultural land, in southern Banat, Republic of Serbia. In the field experiment during three years digestate amendment led to an increase in the number of leaves by 28.56% and plant height by 5.34%, which led to an increase in yield by 3.40%. The maximum yield was 2018 (41.74 DM t ha-1) on chernozem. The yield of sorghum was lower on calcic gleysol compared to chernozem by 5.43% and was in positive, medium and very significant dependence on precipitation (0.61) and in positive significant correlation with digestate (0.53) and plant height (0.59). Biogas yield reach 157.05 Nm3 t-1 (9582 Nm3 ha-1) on chernozem with digestate. Digestate had a statistically significant positive effect on all tested characteristics of sorghum as well as biogas yield during all three experimental years. The use of digestate as a by-product in the process of producing biogas based on silage of sorghum, allows the substitution of mineral fertilizers and remediation of damaged soil, which contributes to sustainability from the bio-economic and environmental aspects.

Effects of pre-sowing seed treatments for improving germination and the growth of pepper and tomato seedlings

AB  - The aim of this study was to establish the effect of different seed treatments on germination, and the growth of the embryonic stem and the radicle of tomato and pepper varieties. Four treatments were used in the study: MIX [(Coveron + zinc (Zn 0.5%) + boron (B 0.025%)]; Coveron; zinc (ZnSO4, Zn 0.5%) and boron (B 0.025%). The treatments were applied on seeds of following four pepper varieties: Šorokšari, Somborka, Kraljica, and Mirtima and three tomato varieties: Rio Grande, Saint Pierre, and Tomato apple of Novi Sad (Novosadski jabučar). Germination and the growth increase of both the embryonic stem (cm) and the radicle (cm) were observed in the germination cabinets and pots containing soil in two laboratories – locations. After the treatment applied to the pepper seeds and testing in the laboratory germination cabinet the following was established: i) the maximum increase in germination of 90% was when the MIX and Zn treatment was applied to seeds, ii) the growth increase of embryonic stems of 2.7 cm was recorded when the MIX treatment was applied, iii) the growth increase of radicles of 1.7 cm was gained when the Coveron and MIX treatment was applied. Tests performed in pots showed that Coveron was the most efficient treatment. Treatments on tomato seeds during the seed testing in the germination cabinet provided: vi) the germination increase of 13% with the MIX treatment, vii) the growth increase of the embryonic stem of 2.6 cm with the same treatment, vii) the growth increase of 1.7 cm of radicles. Coveron was the most efficient treatment in tests in pots.

The production of organic spelt wheat in Serbia

AB  - Areas used for the production of organic plants have been permanently increasing for many years, both in the world and in Serbia. This type of agricultural production in Serbia was performed in the area of 14,357.96 ha, and the leading role belonged to cereals. Since great attention has been paid to spelt wheat in the production of organic food, the organic system of agricultural production has been distributed over ever larger areas. Therefore, the objectives of this study were to present data on the areas cultivated with this type of cereals in Serbia according to regional distribution in 2012, 2015 and 2016 provided by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republic of Serbia. Spelt wheat is cultivated on the area of 157.9 ha. The greatest areas are in Vojvodina (120.04 ha), followed by the areas in the south and Eastern Serbia (22.3 ha), Šumadija and western Serbia (14.1 ha), while the smallest production of organic spelt wheat is registered in Belgrade (only 1.5 ha). The varieties Nirvana and Ostro are the only spelt wheat varieties released in Serbia. Since spelt wheat has very good biological and agronomic traits, with the high nutritional and specific functional value of the grain, deserves more attention, particularly for growing within the organic farming system and production.
AB  - Površine pod organskom biljnom proizvodnjom već duži niz godina beleže kontinurano povećanje, kako u svetu, tako i u Srbiji. Ovaj vid poljoprivredne proizvodnje u Srbiji se odvija na ukupno 14.357,96 ha, pri čemu vodeću ulogu zauzimaju žita. S'obzirom na to da se za krupnik beleži sve veće interesovanje u proizvodnji zdravstveno bezbedne hrane, on u organskom sistemu poljoprivredne proizvodnje zauzima sve veće površine. U tom smislu, cilj ovog rada je bio da se prema podacima Ministarstva poljoprivrede, šumarstva i vodoprivrede Republike Srbije, prikažu podaci o proizvodnji u organskom sistemu gajenja ove vrste žita u Srbiji, prema regionalnoj raspodeli za 2012, 2015 i 2016. godinu. U proseku, za ovaj vremenski period, krupnik se proizvodio na površini od 157,9 ha. Najveće površine bile su zastupljene u regionu Vojvodine (120,04 ha), a zatim slede južna i istočna Srbija (22,3 ha), Šumadija i zapadna Srbija (14,1 ha). Na područiju beogradske opštine, krupnik se proizvodio na svega 1,5 ha. Jedine dve priznate sorte u Srbiji su Nirvana i Ostro. S obzirom na to da krupnik poseduje veoma dobre biološke i agronomske osobine, to ga čini naročito pogodnim za gajenje u organskom sistemu poljoprivredne proizvodnje.

AB  - The aim of this study was to examine the influence of NPK fertilization and between row spacing on the growth, development and grain yield of buckwheat (cultivar Novosadska). Field microexperiments were conducted during the 2018 in the agroecological conditions of the central Šumadija (locality Rača Kragujevačka), on brown forest soil type (Eutric Cambisol), according to the Split plot plane in four repetitions. The area of the main plot was 90.0 m2, and the areas of the subplots were 3.0 m2, when sowing was carried out on the 25 cm row distance, and 6.0 m2, when sowing was carried out on 50 cm row distance. The applied amounts of fertilizers expressed in kg ha-1 of active substance were: Control (unfertilized), NPK 30:30:30, NPK 60:60:60 and NPK 90:90:90. Standard agrotechnological measures were applied, as for the regular production of buckwheat. The obtained results showed a significantly stronger effect of NPK fertilization on the examined parameters in comparison with the size of the vegetation area. When NPK nutrients were used in the largest quantity (NPK 90:90:90), compared to unfertilized variants, a plant height was increased by 16.9%, a number of fruits were increased by 72.5% and a grain yield per ha was higher by 40.5%. When the buckwheat was sown at a larger row distance (50 cm), a plant height was increased by 3.3%, but a grain yield was decreased by 2.3% compared to the dense sowing of the plant (25 cm). The number of fruits per plant did not significantly differ depending on the row distance.

Morphological characterization of sweet sorghum genotypes across environments

AB  - Sweet sorghum being a C4 crop accumulates more sugar in its stalks, also suitable for biofuel production and has high degree of tolerance to biotic and abiotic stresses. Morphological characteristics i.e., plant height, plant biomass, leaves on the stem, panicle length and yield of crude biomass of sweet sorghum genotypes were studied across different environments. Environments and genotype by environment interaction (GEI) had a significant effect on the yield of crude biomass. The smallest yield of crude biomass was achieved in 2016 (42.54 t ha(-1)), which was found significantly lower as compared to that in 2014 and 2015. The average plant height had a significant and positive correlation with the number of leaves (0.54) and number of leaves had highly a significant and positive correlation with the mass of stem (0.46) and panicle length (0.61). Biomass yield was positively and significantly correlated with precipitation (0.72) and negatively significantly correlated with temperature (-0.57). In breeding of sweet sorghum, the highest attention should be given to biomass yield as it manage the whole variation and controlled by polygenes.

Buckwheat seed quality during the five-year storage in various packing materials

AB  - Buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum Moench.) seed, produced in three locations, was used in the present study. Seed was stored in paper, glass, wood and PVC packing materials under room temperature conditions (18 degrees C) for five years. The following parameters of seed quality were observed: viability, germination, dormancy and a 1000-seed weight. Standard laboratory methods were applied in the studies. The lowest viability after harvest was recorded in seeds stored in glass or PVC packing materials. All factors pointed to a great significance in the expression of viability, germination and seed weight maintenance. The highest value of germination (99%) was recorded in seeds produced in the location Karbulovo after two-year storage in the paper packing material. In the second year of storage, seed dormancy in paper packing material amounted to 0-0.1%. The seed weight changed during the storage period from 33.9 g to 24.4 g. The weight loss was the lowest in seeds stored in the paper packing material. The germination decline was slower in large than in small seeds. Obtained results indicate the importance of packing material for maintenance of seed qualitative traits. According to the gained results, seeds packed in paper packing material mostly retained their physiological and morphological traits.

Organic Seed Production in the Republic of Serbia

AB  - Over the past few years, organic agricultural production has increased globally. This type of production is regulated by numerous laws and concomitant regulations, whereas the basic principles of organic production development are prescribed by the IFOAM standards and the European Union. Seed production is of immense importance to organic agricultural systems as the use of certified seed is crucial in preserving organic production. Prior to 2009, certified organic seed had not been produced in the Republic of Serbia, and producers had used either landrace seeds or chemically untreated conventional seeds. Of the total area devoted to organic farming in the Republic of Serbia (14,357.96 ha), seed production accounts for only 8.4 ha, with uneven distribution over regions. The highest organic seed production (5.2 ha) has been recorded in the region of Vojvodina. However, there is still a lack of certified organic seed in the country, emphasizing the need for organic seed breeding and production in the future.

AB  - Phleum pratense (L.) is the important forage grass species in Serbia. The study was conducted on 20 autochthonous population of Phleum pratense (L.), originating from Western Serbia. Plant height, protein content and crude cellulose content had a high direct impact on yield. Populations of PP16, PP20, PP2 and PP9 had the significantly higher yield of the raw matter compared to all the tested population and the highest values for the other evaluated parameters, also. The average yield of crude biomass was positive statistically highly significantly correlated with plant height (r=0.87**), and positively significantly correlated with a content of crude proteins and positive non significant correlated with crude cellulose (r=0.42 ). Based on obtained values and by the appropriate choice of selection methods, we conclude that we have excellent genotypes, PP16, PP20, PP2 and PP9 for a successful selection process in order to obtain new high yielding varieties of Phleum pratense.

Influence of Different Pre-Sowing Treatments on Seed Dormancy Breakdown, Germination and Vigour of Red Clover and Italian Ryegrass

AB  - A two-year study was conducted using seed of six cultivars of Trifolium pratense (red clover) and three cultivars of Lolium multiflorum (Italian iyegrass), to test the effect of different treatments including exposure to 50% H2SO4 for 10, 30, 60, 90 min; to 80 degrees C temperature for 10, 30, 60, 90 min; gibberellic acid (GA(3)) at 250, 500, 1000 and 1500 mg L-1; and potassium nitrate (KNO3) at 0.1, 0.2, 0.35 and 0.5%. Germination, dormancy and vigour of both red clover and ryegrass were assessed. In case of T. pratense seed, there was a significant (p  lt = 0.05 or p  lt = 0.01) interaction between all the cultivars and treatments. A significant (p  lt = 0.05) interaction was also observed between the L. multiflorum cultivars and H2SO4 including temperature treatments. However, no significant interactions were noted between the GA(3) or KNO3 treatment, germination and vigour. The results showed that by selecting the optimal treatment (H2SO4 30' or H2SO4 60'T. pretense and GA(3) 1000 mg L-1 L. multiflorum) for a particular cultivar it is possible to significantly improve germination and vigour, and thus ensure technologically more effective and economical establishment of a grass-legume mixture of L. multiflorum and T. pratense.

abstract = "A two-year study was conducted using seed of six cultivars of Trifolium pratense (red clover) and three cultivars of Lolium multiflorum (Italian iyegrass), to test the effect of different treatments including exposure to 50% H2SO4 for 10, 30, 60, 90 min; to 80 degrees C temperature for 10, 30, 60, 90 min; gibberellic acid (GA(3)) at 250, 500, 1000 and 1500 mg L-1; and potassium nitrate (KNO3) at 0.1, 0.2, 0.35 and 0.5%. Germination, dormancy and vigour of both red clover and ryegrass were assessed. In case of T. pratense seed, there was a significant (p  lt = 0.05 or p  lt = 0.01) interaction between all the cultivars and treatments. A significant (p  lt = 0.05) interaction was also observed between the L. multiflorum cultivars and H2SO4 including temperature treatments. However, no significant interactions were noted between the GA(3) or KNO3 treatment, germination and vigour. The results showed that by selecting the optimal treatment (H2SO4 30' or H2SO4 60'T. pretense and GA(3) 1000 mg L-1 L. multiflorum) for a particular cultivar it is possible to significantly improve germination and vigour, and thus ensure technologically more effective and economical establishment of a grass-legume mixture of L. multiflorum and T. pratense.",

AB  - This work provides a description off collected herbal types that according to their taxonomy belong to the Magnoliophyta division on the locality of Košutnjak (Belgrade). It is determined a significant diverse flora of medicinal herbs. A biological material is collected in a herbarium and it is determined by the keys for plant identification. A treatment effect of medicinal herbs is based on pharmacological active components that mostly belong to a group of secondary metabolites.
AB  - U ovom radu, dat je prikaz sakupljenih biljnih vrsta, koje taksonomski pripadaju razdelu Magnoliophyta, na lokalitetu Košutnjak (Beograd). Primećen je značajan diverzitet flore lekovitih biljaka. Biološki materijal je herbarizovan i determinisan pomoću ključeva za determinaciju biljaka. Terapijsko dejstvo lekovitog bilja, zasniva se na farmakološki aktivnim sastojcima, koji uglavnom pripadaju grupi sekundarnih metabolita.

AB  - In this work, it is determined the number of actinomycetes, a very diverse order of microorganisms, which take part in the transformation of the soil organic matter depending on the soil type, the quantity of applied N and the way of the soil treating. The stage of physiological corn kernel maturity shows the higher number of actinomycetes in "cernozem" under the sown maize as well as a stimulating effect of nitrogen.
AB  - U ovom radu, određena je brojnost aktinomiceta, veoma raznovrsne grupe mikroorganizama, koja učestvuje u transformaciji zemljišne organske materije, u zavisnosti od tipa zemljišta, količine primenjenog azotnog (N) đubriva i načina obrade zemljišta. U fazi fiziološke zrelosti zrna kukuruza, utvrđena je veća brojnost aktinomiceta u černozemu, pod usevom kukuruza, kao i stimulativni efekat azota.

Land areas under organic wheat in Serbia

AB  - In the whole organic farming sector, the greatest land areas serve for the production of wheat which has been in constant growth in recent years. The aim of this paper is to show the dynamics of land area change regarding organic farming regions in Serbia for the period of 2012 to 2015. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection, total land area with organic farming status in Serbia is 15298.02 ha (data for 2015). The major part is used for organic wheat farming, with the share of 4251.94 ha. The Region of Vojvodina has the biggest organic wheat farming land area (4045.57 ha). The region of Southern and Eastern Serbia holds the second place (158.77 ha), followed by the City of Belgrade (31.45 ha). Finally, the region of Šumadija and West Serbia holds the last place with organic wheat farming land area of 16.15 ha. Considering remarkable natural conditions for wheat farming, our country does not take the full advantage of that natural potential despite the unsaturated global market for this kind of goods.
AB  - U celokupnom sektoru organske poljoprivredne proizvodnje, najveće površine zauzima Proizvodnja žita, koja iz godine u godinu beleži kontinuiran rast, te je cilj ovog rada da prikaže kretanje površina pod organskom proizvodnjom žita u Srbiji - po regionima, za period od 2012 do 2015. godine. Prema podacima Ministarstva poljoprivrede i zaštite životne sredine, ukupne površine sa organskim statusom u Srbiji u 2015.godini iznose 15298.02 ha, pri čemu vodeću ulogu zauzima organska proizvodnja žita, sa udelom od 4251.94 ha. Region Vojvodine odlikuje najveća organska proizvodnja žita (4045.57 ha), dok se na drugom mestu nalazi region Južne i Istočne Srbije (158.77 ha), a zatim sledi Grad Beograd sa 31.45 ha, dok region Šumadije i Zapadne Srbije sa površinom od 16.15 ha zauzima poslednje mesto. S obzirom na izuzetno povoljne prirodne uslove za proizvodnju žita, naša zemlja i dalje ne koristi ove prirodne potencijale, uprkos činjenici da su potrebe svetskog tržišta za ovom vrstom proizvoda neograničene.

AB  - Organic production is a form of sustainable agriculture which protects human health and agro-ecosystems, and provides a significant economic profit. Since the area under this type of agricultural production increases throughout the world, the production of organic industrial plants records a trend of permanent increase. The aim of this study was to show the production status and production areas in Serbia for the period of 2013-2015. During the analyzed period, the area under this type of production increased by 75%. The highest organic production of industrial plants is concentrated in Vojvodina. The area increased twofold in 2014, while in 2015 a threefold increase of area was recorded (compared to 2013 data). Serbia has very favorable conditions for organic crop production, as well as an additional investment to support producers, facilitate greater dissemination of their products to foreign markets, which have unlimited demand.
AB  - Organska poljoprivredna proizvodnja predstavlja vid održive poljoprivredne proizvodnje, štiteći zdravlje ljudi, agro- i ekosistem, a pri tome osigurava značajan ekonomski profit. Kako se površine pod ovim vidom poljoprivredne proizvodnje uvećavaju širom sveta, tako i proizvodnja organskog industrijskog bilja beleži trend permanentnog rasta. U tom cilju, želeli smo da prikažemo stanje proizvodnih površina u Srbiji za period od 2013 - 2015. godine. U analiziranom periodu od 2013. do 2015. godine površine pod ovim vidom proizvodnje uvećane su za 75%. Najveća organska proizvodnja industrijskog bilja skoncentrisana je u Vojvodini. U odnosu na 2013. godinu, u 2014. godini površine su dvostruko uvećane, dok je u 2015. godini zabeleženo trostruko uvećanje površina (u poređenju sa podacima iz 2013. godine). Srbija poseduje izuzetno povoljne uslove za organsku proizvodnju industrijskog bilja, te bi uz dodatnu investicionu podršku proizvođačima omogućila veće širenje njihovih proizvoda na inostrana tržišta, koja imaju neograničenu potražnju.

AB  - California bluebell (Phacelia tanacetifolia Benth) is a hardy plant forage. It is grown for seed production, for obtaining green forage, silage, hay, as well as crop protection, crop of green fertilizers and as bee pasture. 
The experiment the new variety California bluebell, NS Priora, was carried out in four replications on plots of the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in Backi Petrovac (φN 45 ° 20 ', λE 19 ° 40', m.s.l. 89), in 2016. Cellulose content in the grain of variety NS Priora was 4.91%, while the average yield of raw biomass was 25,000 kg ha-1. NS Priora has achieved high yields of raw biomass and good grain quality and proved to be a good feedstock for the production of seeds and roughage.
AB  - Facelija (Phacelia tanacetifolia Benth) je jednogodišnja krmna biljka. Koristi se za proizvodnju semena, za dobijanje zelene krme, silaže, sena, kao zaštitni usev, usev za zelenišno đubrenje i kao pčelinja paša. 
Ogled sa novom sortom facelije, NS Priora, izveden je u četiri ponavljanja na parcelama Instituta za ratarstvo i povrtarstvo u Bačkom Petrovcu (φN 45°20', λE 19°40', m.s.l. 89), u 2016. godini. Sadržaj celuloze u zrnu sorte NS Priora iznosio je 4,91% dok je prosečan prinos sirove biomase iznosio 25.000 kg ha-1. NS Priora je ostvarila visoke prinose sirove biomase i dobar kvalitet zrna i pokazala se kao dobra sirovina za proizvodnju semena i voluminozne stočne hrane.

AB  - In this  work the influence of crop density and sugar beet varieties of different types  (Alfonsa- E type, Marianka KWS- Z type and Serenade KWS EPD - N type) on the yield and quality of sugar beet roots was achieved. Field micro experiments were carried out in agroecological conditions of Central Banat using split plot method in five replications, on a calcareous chernozem soil type.
The results showed statistically significant differences in root yield between the genotypes in both years. On the sugar content in root statistically significant effect demonstrated the tested varieties only in 2014. The highest root yield was obtained in crop density of 120,000 plants ha-1 (75.55 t ha-1). Alfonsa variety is determined by the highest root yield (76.35 t ha-1), and the lowest sugar content in root (13.64%).
AB  - U radu je proučavan uticaj  gustine useva i sorti šećerne repe različitog tipa (Alfonsa- E tip, Marianka KWS- Z tip i Serenada KWS EPD – N tip) na prinos i kvalitet korena šećerne repe. Poljski mikroogledi su izvedeni u agroekološkim uslovima srednjeg Banata po metodu razdeljenih parcela (split plot) u pet ponavljanja, na zemljištu tipa karbonatni černozem.
Dobijeni rezultati su pokazali statistički vrlo značajne razlike u prinosu korena između ispitivanih genotipova u obe godine istraživanja. Na sadržaj šećera u korenu statistički vrlo značajan uticaj ispoljile su ispitivane sorte samo u 2014. godini. Najveći prinos korena dobijen je u gustini useva od 120.000 biljaka/ha (75,55 t ha-1). U prinosne sorte Alfonsa utvrđen je najveći prinos korena (76,35 t ha-1), a najmanji sadržaj šećera u korenu (13,64%).

AB  - This paper examined the influence of the quantity and form of nitrogen on the important parameters of productivity of winter wheat. Field microexperiments were conducted in agroecological conditions of Central Serbia and loam soil type (vertisol).
The results showed significant differences in the spike length, number of spikelets, grain yield and hectoliter weight between examined quantities of nitrogen. On the contrary, a form of nitrogen had not a significant effect on the observed parameters of productivity of wheat.
AB  - U ovom radu je ispitivan uticaj količine i oblika azota na važnije parametre produktivnosti ozime pšenice. Poljski mikroogled je postavljen u agroekološkim uslovima centralne Srbije i na zemljištu tipa smonica (vertisol).
Dobijeni rezultati su pokazali značajne razlike u dužini klasa, broju klasića, prinosu zrna i hektolitarskoj masi između ispitivanih količina azota. Suprotno tome, oblik azota nije ispoljio značajan uticaj na posmatrane parametre produktivnosti pšenice.

Significance of nutrient composition of spelt (triticum aestivum ssp. Spelt) for human diet

AB  - Spelt (Triticum aestivum ssp. Spelta) as an ancient type of wheat, recently become "reused" type of wheat with increasing interest because of favorable agronomic, nutritional and medical characteristics. Due to the qualitative characteristics that are in accordance with the latest nutritional requirements, this type of grain takes a leading role in organic plant food production. High mineral content in spelt compared to wheat (Triticum aestivum ssp. vulgare) is one of the most important advantages.According to available data spelt contains high quantity of zinc, iron, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium and copper. Spelt, also, possessed high amounts of some other phytochemicals - lipids (particularly unsaturated fatty acids, liposoluble vitamins, ß-carotene), pericarp polysacharides, proteins, free amino acids, digestible dietal fibers, riboflavin and niacin. On the other hand, the presence of gluten proteins in grain make spelt products unsuitable for daily consumption for persons with allergic reaction on gluten. But, in case of other consuments (because of high antioxidative capacity of particular components) spelt products are desirable in diet of, both, healthy people and patient with some of the following diseases-diabetes, obesity, high levels of cholesterol in the blood, depression, colitis ulcerosa, rheumatoid arthritis, cancer, etc, because their intake reduces the risk of the aforementioned diseases.
AB  - Krupnik (Triticum aestivum ssp. spelta), drevna vrsta pšenice, je sve interesantnija zbog svojih izuzetno povoljnih agronomskih, prehrambenih i medicinskih karakteristika. Zbog povoljnog sastava i kvaliteta koji su u skladu sa najsavremenijim nutricionističkim zahtevima, ova vrsta žita zauzima vodeću ulogu u organskoj biljnoj proizvodnji hrane. Izuzetno visok sadržaj minerala u krupniku, koji je značajno veći u odnosu na pšenicu (Triticum aestivum ssp. vulgare), a naročito P, Fe, K, Zn, Mg i Cu, samo je jedna od njenih prednosti. Takođe, krupnik je u poređenju sa pšenicom bogatiji i u sadržaju drugih vrsta fitohemikalija, kao što su lipidi, nezasićene masne kiseline, polisaharidi, proteini, aminokiseline, rastvorljiva dijetetska vlakna, vitamini-od kojih se riboflavin i niacin nalaze u najvećim količinama, a zatim i ß-karoten. Uprkos povoljnom, bogatom hemijskom sastavu, usled prisustva proteina glutena, unos krupnika u svakodnevnoj ishrani se ne preporučuje osobama alergičnim na ovu vrstu proteina. Ipak, zahvaljujući komponentama sa izraženom antioksidativnom aktivnošću, konzumiranje proizvoda od žita, naročito krupnika, preporučuje se u ishrani pacijenata obolelih od mnogobrojnih bolesti, kao što su: dijabetes, gojaznost, visok holesterol u krvi, depresija, ulcerozni kolitis, reumatoidni artritis, kancer i dr.

AB  - Buckwheat, centuries-old wheat cereals from the Polygonaceae family, has seen global production growth in recent years. Grain is mostly cultivated, which is further processed into flour, and then into numerous products (noodles, pancakes, biscuits, porridge, soup, etc.), which is consumed in countries around the world. Buckwheat is an alternative grain of high nutritional value, due to the high content of high-protein proteins, vitamins, flavonoids, phytosterols, dietary fiber, and abundance of antioxidants, especially routine-due to its numerous positive and protective effects on human health. Particularly important role is in regulation of diabetes, reduction in serum cholesterol levels, reduction of hypertension, and also exhibits anticancer, antiinflammatory and neuroprotective effect. Since it does not contain gluten, unlike other types of grains, buckwheat is suitable for eating people allergic to this type of protein. The aim of this study is to review chemical composition of buckwheat and shows their importance for everyday consumption.
AB  - Heljda, vekovima poznato alternativno žito iz familije Polygonaceae, poslednjih godina beleži sve veći rast proizvodnje na globalnom nivou. Najviše se gaji radi zrna, koje se daljim postupcima prerađuje u brašno, a zatim i u brojne proizvode (nudle, palačinke, keks, kašu, supu itd.) čija se konzumacija razlikuje u zemljama širom sveta. Heljda je alternativno žito izraženih nutritivnih vrednosti, usled visokog sadržaja visokovrednih proteina, vitamina, flavonoida, fitosterola, prehrambenih vlakana i obilja antioksidanasa, naročito rutina-usled čega poseduje brojne pozitivne i zaštitne efekte po ljudsko zdravlje. Naročito važnu ulogu ima u regulaciji dijabetesa, smanjenju nivoa holesterola u serumu, smanjenju hipertenzije, a ispoljava i antikancerogeno, antiinflamatorno i neuroprotektivno dejstvo. S obzirom na to da ne sadrži gluten, za razliku od drugih vrsta žita, heljda je pogodna u ishrani osoba alergičnih na ovu vrstu proteina. Cilj ovog rada je da kroz pregled hemijskog profila heljde ukaže na značaj njenog konzumiranja u svakodnevnoj ishrani.

AB  - Soil microorganisms has a key role in creation and maintaining of fertility of soil. The aim of this research was to examine microbiological activity of soil type "cernozem" in Zemun Polje, namely how quantity of the applying N fertilizers, the way of tillage and the phenophase of a plant affects on the number of aminoheterotrophs. The number of aminoheterotrophs depend on a phenophase of a plant, "ugar" or tillage and the quantity of applied N fertilizer. Less quantity of applied N fertilizer affects the increase of a number of aminoheterotrophs, whereas higher concentration of applied N fertilizer has an inhibitory effect.
AB  - Zemljišni mikroorganizmi imaju ključnu ulogu u stvaranju i održanju plodnosti zemljišta.
Cilj ovog rada bio je ispitivanje mikrobiološke aktivnosti zemljišta tipa černozem u Zemun Polju, i to uticaja količine primijenjenog N đubriva, načina obrade zemljišta i fenofaze biljke na brojnost aminoheterotrofa.
Ispitivani parametar mikrobiološke aktivnosti zemljišta, brojnost aminoheterotrofa, pokazao je zavisanost od fenofaze biljke, načina obrade zemljišta i količine primijenjenog N đubriva.
Primijenjene manje količine N đubriva su uticale na povećanje brojnosti aminoheterotrofa, dok su visoke količine N đubriva djelovale inhibitorno.

AB  - The influence of different amounts of nitrogen (30, 60 and 90 kg ha-1) on important soybean yield components (number of fertile nodes, number of pods per plant and weight of 1.000 grains), was examined in this paper. Experiment was carried out at two different localities (Maize Research Institute Zemun Polje and the village Kloka-lower Jasenica) in 2009. Experiments were carried out through field plot trials, using split-plot in 4 replications. The results show that, on average, for both soil types, number of pods per plant and weight of 1000 grains increased using nitrogen dose of 60 kg ha-1 for 5.2 and 3.8% and the number of fertile nodes to the variant of fertilization with 30 kg ha-1 of nitrogen for 3.8%. The amount of 90 kg ha-1 N gave lower values of the number of pods per plant compared to the control.
AB  - U radu je ispitivan uticaj različitih količina azota (30; 60 i 90 kg ha-1) na neke značajnije komponente prinosa soje (broj etaža mahuna po biljci, broj mahuna po biljci i masa 1.000 zrna). Istraživanja su obavljena na dva različita lokaliteta, Institut za kukuruz u Zemun Polju i selo Kloka-donja Jasenica u 2009. godini. Eksperimenti su izvedeni putem poljskih mikroogleda, metodom razdvojenih parcela (split-plot) u 3 ponavljanja. Dobijeni rezultati pokazuju da su se, u proseku za oba tipa zemljišta, broj mahuna po biljci i masa 1.000 zrna povećavali upotrebom azota do 60 kg ha-1 za 5,2 odnosno 3,8%, a broj etaža mahuna po biljci do varijante đubrenja sa 30 kg ha-1 za 3,8%. Varijanta đubrenja sa 90 kg ha-1 dala je niže vrednosti broja mahuna po biljci u odnosu na kontrolnu varijantu.

AB  - Areas under soybean in the world in 2013 amounted to 111.27 million hectares, with the total production of 276.40 million tonnes. America is the world's largest producer of soybean, with an area of 85.63 million ha, or with total world share of 76.95%, followed by Asia with an area of 20.69 million hectares and Europe with an area of 3.18 million hectares and total production of 5.94 million tonnes. 
The Republic of Serbia is among the largest producers oil crops in Europe. In 2013, the average soybean yields in Serbia were at the level of the average global yield while production amounted to 385,514 tons. The Republic of Serbia has favorable conditions for growing soybean. The correct cultivation practices and choice variety is a prerequisite for economic profitable soybean production.
AB  - Površine pod sojom u svetu, u 2013. godini iznosile su 111,27 miliona ha, sa ostvarenom ukupnom proizvodnjom od 276,40 miliona tona. Amerika je najveći svetski proizvođač soje, sa površinama od 85,63 miliona ha, odnosno sa ukupnim svetskim učešćem od 76,95%, zatim slede, Azija sa površinama od 20,69 miliona ha i Evropa sa površinama od 3,18 miliona ha i ukupnom proizvodnjom od 5,94 miliona tona.   
Republika Srbija je među najvećim proizvođačima uljarica u Evropi. U 2013. godini prosečni prinosi soje u Srbiji bili na nivou prosečnih svetskih prinosa dok je proizvodnja iznosila 385.514 tona.  Republika Srbija ima povoljne uslove za gajenje soje. Pravilna tehnologija gajenja i odabir sorte preduslov je za ekonomski isplativu proizvodnju soje.

AB  - Technological quality of wheat is defined by physical and chemical indicators of quality and its baking properties. To make wheat a commodity, there are certain requirements to be met, defined by minimum values of trade quality indicators. As hexaploid wheat, spelt (Triticum spelta L.) belongs to a group of alternative cereal grains high in gluten, and its flour is therefore used for making most pastries. Due to its high nutritional value, spelt flour is used to enhance the quality or flavour of wheat bread and other bakery products. Two-year research was conducted during 2011 and 2012 to investigate protein content in crops grown on the Eutric Cambisol soil type. The research was conducted on two spelt cultivars: Hungarian Ekö 10 and Serbian NS Nirvana. The results showed that NS Nirvana averaged a statistically significantly higher proteins content (16.76%) than Hungarian cultivar Ekö 10 (15.65%). Climatic factors, temperatures, the intensity of light and duration of seed filling had an impact on the investigated parameter.
AB  - Tehnološki kvalitet pšenice definisan je fizičkim i hemijskim pokazateljima kvaliteta i pecivnim osobinama. Da bi pšenica bila predmet trgovine potrebno je da zadovoljava određene uslove koji su definisani minimalnim vrednostima pokazatelja prometnog kvaliteta. Heksaploidna pšenica krupnik (Triticum spelta L.) pripada grupi alternativnih žita koja ima visok sadržaj glutena, te se od njegovog brašna uspešno pravi većina peciva. Zahvaljujući visokoj hranljivoj vrednosti brašno krupnika koristi se kao poboljšavač kvaliteta i ukusa pšeničnog hleba i drugih hlebno-pekarskih proizvoda. Dvogodišnja istraživanja izvedena su tokom 2011. i 2012. godine u cilju ispitivanja sadržaja proteina na zemljištu tipa gajnjača. Ispitivane su dve sorte krupnika: mađarske sorta Ekö 10 i srpska NS sorta Nirvana. Rezultati su pokazali da je NS sorta Nirvana imala u proseku statistički značajno veći sadržaj proteina (16.76 %) u odnosu na mađarsku sortu Ekö 10 (15.65 %). Klimatski faktori temperatura, intenzitet svetlosti i dužina trajanja faze nalivanja zrna imali su uticaj na ovaj ispitivani parametar.

As hexaploid wheat, spelt (Triticum spelta L.) belongs to a group of alternative cereal grains high in gluten, and its flour is therefore used for making most pastries. Due to its high nutritional value, spelt flour is used to enhance the quality or flavour of wheat bread and other bakery products. Two-year research was conducted during 2011 and 2012 to investigate protein content in crops grown on the Eutric Cambisol soil type. The research was conducted on two spelt cultivars: Hungarian Ekö 10 and Serbian NS Nirvana. The results showed that NS Nirvana averaged a statistically significantly higher proteins content (16.76%) than Hungarian cultivar Ekö 10 (15.65%). Climatic factors, temperatures, the intensity of light and duration of seed filling had an impact on the investigated parameter., Tehnološki kvalitet pšenice definisan je fizičkim i hemijskim pokazateljima kvaliteta i pecivnim osobinama. Da bi pšenica bila predmet trgovine potrebno je da zadovoljava određene uslove koji su definisani minimalnim vrednostima pokazatelja prometnog kvaliteta. Heksaploidna pšenica krupnik (Triticum spelta L.) pripada grupi alternativnih žita koja ima visok sadržaj glutena, te se od njegovog brašna uspešno pravi većina peciva. Zahvaljujući visokoj hranljivoj vrednosti brašno krupnika koristi se kao poboljšavač kvaliteta i ukusa pšeničnog hleba i drugih hlebno-pekarskih proizvoda. Dvogodišnja istraživanja izvedena su tokom 2011. i 2012. godine u cilju ispitivanja sadržaja proteina na zemljištu tipa gajnjača. Ispitivane su dve sorte krupnika: mađarske sorta Ekö 10 i srpska NS sorta Nirvana. Rezultati su pokazali da je NS sorta Nirvana imala u proseku statistički značajno veći sadržaj proteina (16.76 %) u odnosu na mađarsku sortu Ekö 10 (15.65 %). Klimatski faktori temperatura, intenzitet svetlosti i dužina trajanja faze nalivanja zrna imali su uticaj na ovaj ispitivani parametar.",

AB  - The goal of this paper is to analyse optimal nitrogen rate in corn production that will produce maximal profitability. Main objective of corn production is high and stabile yield and consequently generating maximum return for the producer. In order to achieve this, an adequate set of agrotechnical measures has to be applied in the production process. Application of optimal quantity of nitrogen is important in order to increase profitability from corn production, and second, to avoid environmental pollution. During period 2005-2007 a research was conducted to determine influence of nitrogen application rate (control -without fertilisation, PKNfon, PKN60, PKN120 and PKN180) and different FAO group hybrids (ZP-SC 434, ZP-SC 578 and ZP-SC 677) on production profitability. Increase of nitrogen fertilizer tended to raise grain yield. In a dry year of 2005, high additional return of 257.04 $/ha was with nitrogen fertilization rate of 120 kg/ha. The highest return in 2006 and 2007, was with moderate nitrogen rate of 60 kg/ha. Despite yield increase, excessive use of nitrogen can result in decrease of gross return due to rise in fertilization costs, which happened in 2007 where use of 180 kg/ha resulted in a loss of 210 $/ha.

Morphological and productive traits of red kernel maize in variable weather conditions

AB  - The scientific work presents the results of two year testing of the morphological and production traits of maize variety ZP Rumenka planted in three sowing dates. Investigations were performed on a calcareous chernozem in agro ecological conditions of northeast Srem. Subject of study were three sowing dates: March 31, April 10 and 20th of April. The results show morphological and productive maize traits that have the most important role in the yield formation. The traits are: stalk height (up to tassel), cob length, cob weight, grains per cob, cob share in the total mass and 1.000 grains weight. The values obtained are shown in the two year average and were compared over years of research. Variation caused by sowing period and variable weather conditions, were statistically analyzed using analysis of variance and LSD test. The results showed that sowing dates have a significant and very significant impact on the studied traits, which interacting with weather conditions, and particularly water regime, showed great variation. The thermal conditions of this area in a two year average and in each research year have shown that corn can be sown earlier (early April) than the most producers do. Any delay in sowing will significantly reduce the level of utilization of genetic yield potential of this variety. The best production results were achieved by sowing at the end of March. Even the very favorable weather conditions in the first year of investigation could not mitigate the consequences of the later planting dates. It should be opted for early sowing of maize considering the fact that the drought becomes common phenomenon in our main agricultural areas.
AB  - U radu su prikazani rezultati dvogodišnjih ispitivanja morfoloških i proizvodnih osobina kukuruza sorte ZP Crvenka sejanog u tri roka. Istraživanja su izvedena na zemljištu tipa karbonatni černozem u agroekološkim uslovima severoistočnog Srema. Predmet istraživanja bila su tri roka setve i to 31. mart, 10. april i 20. april. U rezultatima su prikazane morfološke i proizvodne osobine kukuruza koje imaju najvažniju ulogu u formiranju prinosa. To su: visina stabla (do metlice), dužina klipa, masa klipa, masa zrna po klipu, udeo oklaska u ukupnoj masi i masa 1.000 zrna. Dobijene vrednosti prikazane su u dvogodišnjem proseku i poređene su po godinama istraživanja. Variranja, uslovljena rokom setve i promenljivim vremenskim uslovima, statistički su obrađena analizom varijanse i testirana LSD testom. Rezultati istraživanja su pokazali da rokovi setve imaju značajan i vrlo značajan uticaj na proučavane osobine kukuruza koje su u interakciji sa vremenskim uslovima, posebno vodnim režimom, ispoljile velika variranja. U dvogodišnjem proseku i po godinama istraživanja toplotni uslovi ovog područja pokazali su da se kukuruz može sejati ranije (početak aprila) nego što to radi većina proizvođača. Svako kašnjenje u setvi značajno će umanjiti stepen iskorišćenosti genetičkog potencijala rodnosti ove sorte. Najbolji proizvodni rezultati dobijeni su setvom krajem marta, dok posledice kasnijih rokova setve nisu ublažili ni vrlo povoljni vremenski uslovi prve godine ispitivanja. Za raniju setva kukuruza treba se opredeliti kad se uzme u obzir činjenica da suša u našim glavnim poljoprivrednim područjima postaje redovna pojava.
