AB - Purpose A hybrid approach is presented, which combines linguistic and statistical information to semi-automatically extract multiword term candidates from texts. Design/methodology/approach The method is designed to be domain and language independent, focusing on languages with rich morphology. Here, it is used for extracting multiword terms from texts in Serbian, belonging to the agricultural engineering domain, as a use case. Predefined syntactic structures were used for multiword terms. For each structure, a finite state transducer was developed, which recognizes text sequences having that structure and outputs the sequence in a normalized form, so that different inflectional forms of the same multiword term can be counted properly. Term candidates were further filtered by their frequencies and evaluated by two domain experts. Findings By using language resources, such as electronic dictionaries and grammars, 928 multiword terms were extracted out of 1,523 multiword terms that were recognized as candidates from a corpus having 42,260 different simple word forms; 870 of these were new, not already contained in the existing electronic dictionary of compounds for Serbian, and they were used to enrich the dictionary. Originality/value The paper presents methodology that can significantly contribute to the development of terminology lexicons in different areas. In this particular use case, some important agricultural engineering concepts were extracted from the text, but this approach could be used for other domains and languages as well.

AB - Biomass resulting from agricultural production represents potential which can be used in multiple ways. The expansion of fruit-growing and viticulture in Serbia in recent years contributes to an even larger quantities of pruning residues. Long-standing practice of destroying and burning of the pruning residues hardly changed, but the energy and environmental indicators point to the importance of proper exploitation of this biomass. The aim of this study is to show the quantity and energy value of tree branches from fruitgrowing and viticulture as fuel, as well as the influence of different fruit types and vine varieties and training systems on energy potential. The apple sort Idared has the highest values of thermal power per mass unit (19.853 kJ kg-1) and the peach sort Redheven has the highest value of thermal power per area unit (974,78 GJ ha-1). The grapevine lags behind other sorts of fruit have significantly less thermal power per unit, but the calorific value per unit mass ranges within the limits of 17,300 ± 100 kJ kg-1.
AB - Biomasa iz poljoprivredne proizvodnje, predstavlja nedovoljno iskorišćen potencijal. Ekspanzija voćarske i vinogradarske proizvodnje u Srbiji, poslednjih godina, doprinosi stvaranju ogromnih količina rezidbenih ostataka.

AB - This paper presents a software system called WebMonitoring. The system is designed for solving certain problems in the process of information search on the web. The first problem is improving entering of queries at search engines and enabling more complex searches than keyword-based ones. The second problem is providing access to web page content that is inaccessible by common search engines due to search engine’s crawling limitations or time difference between the moment a web page is set up on the Internet and the moment the crawler finds it. The architecture of the WebMonitoring system relies upon finite state machines and the concept of monitoring the web. We present the system’s architecture and usage. Some modules were originally developed for the purpose of the WebMonitoring system, and some rely on UNITEX, linguistically oriented software system. We hereby evaluate the WebMonitoring system and give directions for further development.

AB - An overview of the information extraction is given, whose methods and techniques are indispensable in the information search and information management. Information extraction uses and combines techniques and methods from mathematics and computer science, such as natural language processing, formal language theory, probability and statistics. Taking into account all specifics of requests for information and textual resources from which it is extracted, we developed and present a new method for the information extraction called a two-stage method based on the transducers. An architecture of a system that implements this method is presented, along with an example of application. This method has the special significance in situations in which there is a lack of already annotated text corpora, that are necessary for the application of existing methods, especially those based on probability and statistics.

AB - We present a process of extracting information on meteorological phenomena from texts in Serbian. We used finite state automata and transducers for both text processing and information extraction, through software specialized for linguistic text processing. Information extraction was done by an- notating text segments. The extraction rules were described with transducers (finite state transducers and recursive transition networks). Some details of used transducers are presented in this paper, aiming to demonstrate the application of different electronic resources for Serbian, especially the electronic morphological dictionary. Transducers are very efficient tools for language processing. In the case of processing Serbian, it is very important to create different resources and corpora which could allow linguistic research. Therefore, we plan to form a collection of transducers and make it publicly available for different kinds of research in the computational linguistics domain.

abstract = "We present a process of extracting information on meteorological phenomena from texts in Serbian. Therefore, we plan to form a collection of transducers and make it publicly available for different kinds of research in the computational linguistics domain., U radu je prikazan jedan proces izdvajanja informacija o meteorološkim pojavama iz tekstova na srpskom jeziku. AB - This paper presents the results of three conceptually different types of chamomile harvester and their impact on the quality of the harvested chamomile and profit during the production process. Three working modes of each harvester are considered and values of realized losses and the quality of harvested chamomile are determined. It was found that choosing the type of engaged harvester and its working mode can affect the quality of harvested chamomile, as well as the profit achieved in the entire production process. .

AB - This paper is part of research about the effects of mechanized process of fragmentation of pruning residues on the composting process. Compost, as a form of organic fertilizer, requires specific production treatment depending on the form of biomass. Pruning residues from fruit-vine production can be translated into quality organic fertilizer, but it is necessary to coordinate mechanized treatment of biomass and technology of composting process with microbiological processes for organic matter decomposition.

AB - The paper presents a new method for extracting information from semi-structured resources, based on finite state transducers. The method has two clearly distinguished phases. The first phase - pre-processing phase strongly relies upon the analysis of the document structure and it is used for locating records of data in the text. The second phase is based on the finite state transducers created for extracting information. The transducers can be modified so that preferred efficiency is achieved and can be reused for extracting information from other pre-processed documents. We conclude that even untagged text can be treated as a semi-structured one, providing its structure can be successfully pre-processed. As a result, we extracted data from free form encyclopedia text and created a fully structured database with genotype and phenotype characteristics of the organisms.
