Abstract

The strategic cornerstones of enhanced productivity are likely to be the following: increasing genetic potentials of crops and livestock, reducing biotic losses associated with pests, pathogens and weeds, extending the range of abiotic adaptability (by increasing salt and drought tolerance) and increasing the efficiency of natural resource use. There are two very different ways to achieve those goals: biotechnology and alternative agroecological approach.
