Susceptibility of different varieties of Canada thistle (Cirsium arvense (L.) Scop) to some herbicides
Osetljivost različitih varijeteta palamide (Cirsium arvense (L.) Scop) na neke herbicide
Abstract
Knowing the biology of weeds and their biodiversity at different levels is essential to weed control. More or less expressed morphological differences between ecotypes within a species could be associated with the different responses of plants to the herbicides applied. This fact indicates that more data should be collected on the reaction of individual ecotypes to different herbicides as our understanding of variability has considerable practical value in terms of more efficient control, as well as for identifying the modes of resistance to herbicides in scientific research. We investigated the susceptibility of two varieties of Canada thistle, C. arvense var. arvense and C. arvense var. vestitum, to the following herbicides: 2,4-D-2EHE, bentasone + dichlorprop-P, mesotrione, and bentasone + MCPA.
