Red fescue and redtop harvest index
Uticaj međurednog rastojanja na žetveni indeks semenskog crvenog vijuka i bele rosulje
Abstract
Harvest index is an important indicator of seed production efficiency. Its importance is related to dramatic increases of crop yields that occurred in the twentieth century. Harvest index reflects distribution of photosynthates between the grain and the vegetative part of the plant, as well as carbon allocation in grain crop. In an experiment with red fescue and redtop, grain yield in different inter-row sowing distances (20, 40 and 80 cm) in the first and in the second year was observed. Also, production of dry matter through two swaths was measured. Grain yield, as economic, and total biomass, as biological yield were put in relation giving harvest index expressed in percents. Values ranged from 6,98 to 14,76% for red fescue and from 3,01 to 7,93% for redtop.
