The wheels of future

Abstract

AIRTRAX & Co, (New Jersey, USA) has designed new omni or multidirectional system of wheels (DireXtional wheel) for electrical forklift like wheel of future. The omnidirectional wheel was invented in 1973 in Sweden, and consisting of a number of angled discs, was improved by the US Navy in 1990. This omniwheel system uses multiple freewheeling keg-shaped polyurethane rollers that are offset by 45°. Each pair is centred and supported on a rotating steel frame, or hub, that is driven by an electric or hydraulic motor. Fork-lift with this system of wheels is able to travel forwards backwards, sideways, diagonally.

Kompanija AIRTRAX (New Jersey, USA) je konstruisala novi usavršen višepokretljivi sistem točkova (DireXtional wheel) za viljuškar sa električnim pogonom kao točak budućnosti. Sistem višepokretljivih točkova je pronađen u Švedskoj 1973. godine i sastavljen je od rotirajućih ugaonih diskova, a usavršen 1990. godine od Američke mornarice. Sistem višepokretljivih točkova (DireXtional wheel) koristi više slobodno rotirajućih valjaka u paru od poliuretana, koji su postavljeni pod uglom od 45o. Svaki par je centriran na rotirajućoj čeličnoj glavčini, koja dobija pogon od električnog ili hidrauličnog motora. Viljuškar sa novim sistemom točkova ima veliku pokretljivost u vožnji unazad, bočno, ili dijagonalno.
