Fruit characteristics of quince cultivars in the region of Belgrade

Abstract

This paper presents the results of four-year study (2010-2013) of the fruit physical and chemical characteristics of eight quince cultivars in the region of Belgrade. Control cultivar for comparison was ‘Leskovacka’. All cultivars were characterized by significantly higher fruit weight and dimensions compared to the control cultivar. The shape of the fruit of most cultivars was round, which is the most suitable for processing. Most of the tested cultivars has exceeded the control in terms of fruit quality. Among tested quince cultivars, ‘Triumph’, ‘Morava’ and ‘Asenica’ can be recommended for growing in the region of Belgrade.

U ovom radu su prikazani rezultati četvorogodišnjih istraživanja (2010-2013) fizičkih i hemijskih osobina ploda osam sorti dunje u beogradskom području. Kao standard za poređenje poslužila je sorta Leskovačka. Sve ispitivane sorte odlikovale su se značajno većom masom i dimenzijama ploda u odnosu na standard sortu. Oblik ploda većine sorti je bio okruglast, koji je i najpogodniji za preradu. Većina ispitivanih sorti je prevazišla standard u pogledu kvaliteta ploda. Od proučavanih sorti dunje za gajenje u beogradskom području mogu se preporučiti Trijumf, Morava i Asenica.
