Mechanization for vegetable production: Situation and needs

Abstract

In the last 40 years, the average acreage under vegetables in Serbia was 297,231 ha, which accounted for about 9% of the total arable land. The minimum vegetable acreage, 260,000 ha, was recorded in 1970, the maximum, 341 000 ha, in 1996. In the same period of 40 years, the average production of vegetables and potatoes in Serbia was about 2.1 million tons, at the average acreage of about 248,000 hectares, whose value totaled about 435 million euros. Of the previous figures, the production of fresh vegetables (beans, peas, onions, cabbage, kale, peppers, tomatoes, melons, carrots, cucumbers, spice pepper and garlic) was about 1.23 million tons at the acreage of 157,630 ha and 852,394 t of potatoes at the acreage of 90,802 ha. It is estimated that in the vegetable production in home gardens (at 48,799 ha) turns out about 409,240 t of vegetables whose overall value is about 85.5 million euros. There are no precise data on the vegetable production in tunnel-type greenhouses. It is roughly estimated that vegetables are grown at the acreage of 5000-6000 ha, with a steady increase of the acreage and the value of production at around 655 million euros. .

Prosečne površine pod povrćem u poslednjih 40 godina u Srbiji bile 297.231 ha, što čini oko 9% od ukupno obradivih površina. Minimalna površina pod povrćem, od 260.000 ha, zabeležena je 1970., a maksimalna (341.000 ha) 1996. godine. U Srbiji se u proseku za poslednjih 40 godina proizvodilo oko 2,1 miliona tona povrća i krompira u vrednosti od oko 435 miliona evra, na površini od oko 248 hiljada hektara. Od toga sveže povrće je oko 1,23 miliona tona (pasulj, grašak, crni luk, kupus i kelj, paprika, paradajz, bostan, mrkva, krastavac, začinska paprika i beli luk) sa površine od 157.630 ha i 852.394 t krompira sa površine od 90.802 ha. Procena je da se u baštama (48.799 ha) proizvede oko 409.240 t povrća ukupne vrednost od oko 85,5 miliona evra. Preciznih podataka o površinama pod plastenicima tunelskog tipa kod nas nema. Procena je da se u plastenicima povrće gaji na površini od 5.000-6.000 ha, sa stalnom tendencijom rasta. Proizvede se oko 840.000 t povrća u vrednosti proizvodnje na nivou od oko 655 miliona evra. .
