The introduction of Holstein-Friesian genes into European Black Pied cattle populations is important for the milk production improvement. new genotypes, with significantly higher milk and fat yield and some reduction of fat percent, were developed by this breeding method. Apart from higher additive gene effects this is partly due to effects of heterosis. The percent of Holstein genes significantly (P lt 0.01) influenced milk, fat and FCM yields in these investigations. The service period length and age of heifers at calving highly significantly affected milk fat and FCM yields. Milk production was higher in lactation with increased service period and age, but with the numbers of calves and lactations in life time of cows has been reduced. Based on the results obtained it could be concluded that the use of Holsteins in the genetic improvement of European Black Pied breeds and populations is satisfactory providing good management conditions.
