The inheritance of level of susceptibility to three fungal diseases caused by Plasmopara viticola, Oidium tuckeri, and Botrytis cinerea was investigated in seedlings of an F-1 population obtained by crossing Vitis vinifera 'Drenak crveni' and 'Dattier de Beyrouth'. The occurrence of diseases symptoms was observed on leaves and berries and its intensity was estimated according to the O.I.V. descriptors. Unless a quantitative variation was observed, if seedlings of different O.I.V. classes are group into two main categories of susceptible and tolerant individuals, a monogenic inheritance of a major genetic factor for disease susceptibility could be hypothesized for the observed diseases.
