Winter treatment of fruit trees for pest control

Abstract

The study focuses on the importance of winter treatment of fruit trees against pests. Over the past years the use of mineral oils for the control of insects and pests has been gaining in importance due to both environment friendly properties and the fact that insects do not develop resistance. Winter treatments have become a compulsory measure in crop cultivation programs due to the growing number of apple (scales, aphids and mites), pear (pear suckers) and peach (mulberry, aphids, mites) pests. In the case of plums these measures are mostly unnecessary every year.

U radu se ističe značaj zimskog tretiranja voćaka u cilju suzbijanja štetočina. Mineralna ulja se sve više koriste za ove namene, pošto ne postoji mogućnost razvoja rezistentnosti insekata i toksikološki su povoljnija u odnosu na druga jedinjenja. Zbog sve većih problema sa štetočinama jabuke (štitaste vaši, biljne vaši i grinje), kruške (kruškina buva) i breskve (dudova štitasta vaš, biljne vaši i grinje), zimsko tretiranje postaje obavezna mera u programima zaštite navedenih vrsta voćaka. Međutim, u zaštiti šljive, sprovođenje ove mere nije obavezno svake godine.
