AB - Growth and productivity characteristics (shoot length, flower bud density, fruit set, fruit weight, yield per tree, trunk cross-sectional area and yield efficiency) were studied in 15 apricot cultivars in the Belgrade area during the period of two years (2013-2014). The cultivar ‘Hungarian Best’ was used as a control for comparison. The average length of fruiting shoots ranged from 68.8 to 84.5 cm, and the number of flower buds per 1 cm of shoot length varied from 0.40 to 1.20. Nine cultivars are characterized by higher flower bud density in comparison to the control cultivar. The average fruit set ranged from 2.4 to 36.2%. Compared to control, fruit set was significantly higher in ‘Cegledi Arany’ and ‘Roxana’, while it was lower in ‘Laycot’. The average fruit weight ranged from 39.3 to 88.9 g. Compared to control, fruit weight was significantly higher in five cultivars: ‘Sophia’, ‘Neptun’, ‘Roxana’, ‘Cegledy Arany’, and ‘Goldrich’, and it was lower in two cultivars: ‘Ninfa’ and ‘Tomcot’. The average yield per tree was the lowest in the control cultivar, ‘Hungarian Best’ (6.6 kg) and the highest in ‘Sylred’ (29.6 kg). In majority of cultivars (ten) the yield was significantly higher than in the control cultivar. The lowest vigor was recorded in ‘Neptun’, and the highest in ‘Ninfa’. All cultivars had higher cumulative yield efficiency than the control (‘Hungarian Best’ with 0.13 kg cm-2) and it ranged from 0.18 to 0.49 kg cm-2.

AB - Characteristics of growth and cropping (trunk cross-sectional area, yield per tree, yield efficiency, biennial bearing index, and fruit weight) were studied in 25 late-season plum cultivars in the Belgrade area during the eight-year period (2012-2019). The cultivar 'Stanley' was used as a control for comparison. The period of study was divided into initial bearing (age of trees: four and five years) and full bearing (age of trees: between six and eleven years). Significant differences in yield among cultivars were found in both initial and full bearing periods. The average yield per tree in the period of initial bearing ranged from 1.6 kg in 'Pozna Plava' to 10.9 kg in 'Topper', and from 12.3 kg in 'Pozna Plava' to 26.1 kg in 'Mildora' in the period of full bearing. Compared with the control cultivar, significantly lower yields in the full bearing period were obtained in eight cultivars, while higher vigour, expressed as trunk cross-sectional area (TCSA), was found in ten cultivars. Cumulative yield efficiency varied between 0.46 kg/cm2 in 'Požegača' and 1.90 kg/cm2 in 'Topper'. Biennial bearing index was the lowest (0.06) in 'Nada', and the highest (0.90) in 'Tophit'. Fruit weight ranged from 17.9 g in 'Požegača' to 57.0 g in 'Empress'. Compared with the control, fruit weight was significantly higher in seven cultivars, and significantly lower in nine cultivars. On the basis of high yields and large fruit size, the cultivars 'Bluefre', 'Empress', 'Jojo', 'Nada', 'President' and 'Tophit' can be recommended for growing in the Belgrade region.

AB - The aim of this study was to evaluate the thinning efficacy of metamitron applied either alone (single or double application) or in combination with 6-benzyladenine (BA) or naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) in young 'Gala' and 'Golden Delicious' apple trees. The experiment was carried out during the first three crop seasons, 2014, 2015, and 2016, at the commercial orchard located on the mountain Fruska Gora, Serbia. Application of chemical thinners was carried out at two fruit diameter stages (6-9 and 12-15 mm). The number of fruit and yield per tree, fruit size distribution, parameters of fruit ripeness, and return bloom were assessed. Single metamitron treatments were effective when the weather conditions were favourable on the day of application and 3 days after (minimum night temperature >10 degrees C, maximum daily temperature >20 degrees C) regardless of fruit diameter stages. A reduction in fruit number per tree was followed by an increase in mean fruit weight. Double metamitron application at lower concentration caused relatively stable thinning activity during the whole experimental period in both cultivars tested. Metamitron combined with either BA or NAA at standard rates significantly reduced the negative influence of low temperature on metamitron thinning activity in the first experimental year. These treatments slightly influenced overthinning in 'Gala' trees if applied when the air temperature was too high minimum night temperature >15 degrees C, maximum daily temperature >25 degrees C). Repeated metamitron treatment and treatments in which metamitron was combined with BA and NAA resulted in an increase in fruit size and share of large fruit in the total yield during the whole experimental period in both cultivars tested. A reduction in fruit number per tree affected by these treatments was followed by increasing flowering intensity in the subsequent year, with the exception of double metamitron application to 'Golden Delicious' trees in the last experimental year. Fruit maturity parameters were slightly different under the influence of metamitron treatments.

AB - Aim of study: To determine the self-compatibility level of eight quince cultivars. Area of study: The region of Belgrade (Central Serbia). Material and methods: Pollen tube growth in vivo and fruit set in two pollination variants (self- and open-pollination) were studied in eight quince cultivars. The quantitative parameters of pollen tube growth (average number of pollen tubes in the upper and middle third of the style, base of the style and in the ovary; the dynamics of pollen tube growth through these parts of the pistil) was determined using the fluorescence microscopy. Main results: The parameters of pollen tube growth and fruit set were primarily dependent on the genotype and variants of pollination. All studied parameters were significantly higher in the open-pollination variant compared with the self-pollination in all cultivars. In the self-pollination variant, 'Leskovacka' and Vranjska' had the highest number of pollen tubes that penetrated the ovary (2.10 and 0.54 in average, respectively), as well as the largest percentage of pistils with the penetration of pollen tubes in the nucellus of ovules six days after pollination (40.09% and 14.74%). Also, they had the highest percentage of initial fruit set (17.01% and 28.52%) and final fruit set (9.32% and 9.86%). Based on this, 'Leskovacka' and 'Vranjska' can be classified as self-compatible cultivars, while the others are self-incompatible. Research highlights: The majority of quince cultivars were self-incompatible. When establishing new orchards with these cultivars, care should be taken about the choice of pollenisers in order to achieve high yields.

AB - Morphology and ultrastructure of pollen grains were studied in 13 Oblacinska sour cherry clones in three years using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). All studied clones had isopolar, radially symmetric and tricolpate pollen grains. Length and width of pollen grains varied in a range of 50.03-55.97 mu m and 25.16-28.37 mu m respectively. Pollen shape in all the studied clones was identified as prolate. The smallest colpus length was found in the clone 8 (43.73 mu m), and the highest in the clone 3 (49.16 mu m). The highest colpus and mesocolpium width had the clone 3 (1.73 mu m; 14.87 mu m) and the lowest had the clone 7 (1.46 mu m; 13.78 mu m). All studied clones had striate exine ornamentation. Number of ridges per 100 mu m(2) of the exine surface was the highest in the clone 11 (16.7) and lowest in the clone 2 (14.1). Ridge and furrow width ranged from 0.46 to 0.61 mu m and from 0.45 to 0.59 mu m, respectively. The clones have been classified into three clusters based on all studied properties. Pollen grains examination by SEM indicated that several morphological parameters (pollen size and exine characteristics) can be used to distinguish Oblacinska sour cherry clones.

Pollen grains examination by SEM indicated that several morphological parameters (pollen size and exine characteristics) can be used to distinguish Oblacinska sour cherry clones.",

AB - Phenological characteristics and yield potential in eight promising peach hybrids from selection based on fruit quality were studied in this paper. The hybrids flowered from late March to mid-April, and fruit ripened from late August to late September. The FS3, FS4, and FS7 hybrids had the highest density of flower buds. The initial fruit set was quite high (73.9%) and the final fruit set was much lower (32.2%). Fruit weight ranged from 129.8 g (FS4 hybrid) to 178.1 g (FS7 hybrid). The FS3 and FS7 hybrids had the highest yield per 1 m of shoot length (3.5 kg), and the FS2 hybrid had the highest yield per tree (25.3 kg) and the highest yield efficiency (0.30 kg cm-2). The FS2, FS3, and FS7 hybrids stood out based on yield potential. They are good candidates for release as new high-yielding peach cultivars or for use in further breeding efforts.

AB - Fruit set and yield potential were studied in 15 genotypes of vineyard peach of late maturity (from middle to the end of September) during a three-year period (2012-2014). The study was carried out at the Experimental Station Radmilovac of the Faculty of Agriculture in Belgrade. Genotypes were evaluated for: Initial and final fruit set, fruit weight, number of fruits m-1 of shoot length and yield m-1 of shoot length. Initial fruit set varied from 36.0% (genotype IV/16) to 67.0% (genotype IV/14), and final fruit set from 24.9% (genotype IV/13) to 51.2% (genotype IV/14). Fruit weight ranged from 40.1 g (genotype II/24) to 78.2 g (genotype II/17). Highest number of fruits m-1 of shoot length was recorded at genotype II/17 (21.3) and the lowest at genotype II/31 (9.6). Yield m-1 of shoot length varied from 0.5 kg (genotypes II/13 and II/24) to 1.4 kg (genotype IV/18). Among studied vineyard peach genotypes, three genotypes (II/17, IV/17 and IV/18) can be recommended as promising related to yield potential, or as starting material for new peach cultivars of late maturity in further breeding work.

AB - The profile of flavan-3-ols and proanthocyanidins in five different Rosa species (R. canina, R. glutinosa, R. rubiginosa, R. multiflora, and R. spinosissima) was estimated on high performance thin layer chromatography cellulose plates. Differences in flavanol and proanthocyanidin profiles of the extracts were evident, among which Rosa spinosissima stood out with catechin as the only detected flavanol and red zones as indication of anthocyanins. Furthermore, the elution solvent for thin layer chromatography with mass spectrometry analyses of glycosylated flavan-3-ols and proanthocyanidins was optimized, enabling identification of catechin, (epi)catechin hexoside, proanthocyanidin dimer, and proanthocyanidin dimers and trimers hexosides. A total of 15 flavanols and their derivatives were identified using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography with linear trap quadrupole-Orbitrap mass analyzer and epicatechin, gallocatechin, and proanthocyanidin trimerwere identified only using this technique. However, proanthocyanidin trimer trihexoside was identified only by thin-layer chromatography with mass spectrometry. To establish the relationships between the flavanols and proanthocyanidins composition of rose hip and their origin, principal component analysis was performed on the entire set of liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry data. Both principal components' scores plots showed that Rosa spinosissima could be considered as an outlier. Our study demonstrated that flavanol and proanthocyanidin profiles of different rose hips depend on the geographical origin rather than on the cultivar and genotype.

AB - The paper examines the influence of three clonal rootstocks ('Pixy', 'Fereley' and 'St. Julien A') along with seedlings of Myrobalan (control) on the growth, yield and fruit quality of the plum cultivar 'Čačanska Rana'. Research was conducted in the area of the Belgrade Danube basin for the six-year period (2013-2018). In comparison to control, all three clonal rootstocks have shown a significant effect on the decrease of vigor expressed as a trunk cross-sectional area. The lowest vigor was found in trees on the 'Pixy' rootstock, then on 'Fereley' and 'St. Julien A' rootstocks. Regarding the rootstocks 'Fereley' and 'St. Julien A', significantly higher fruit set and yields were achieved in comparison to control. Clonal rootstocks induced an increase in the yield per hectare ranging from 72% to 93% compared to Myrobalan. The highest yield efficiency was found in the trees on the 'Fereley' rootstock, followed by the yields observed in the trees on the 'Pixy' and 'St. Julien A' rootstocks. Significantly higher fruit weight compared to control was obtained in the trees on the 'Fereley' rootstock. Rootstocks did not show any significant effect on the soluble solids and total acid contents of the fruit. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that all three clonal rootstocks showed better results than Myrobalan, and can be recommended for establishing intensive plum plantations with higher planting density. The best results in terms of yield and fruit quality were obtained with the 'Fereley' rootstock.

Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that all three clonal rootstocks showed better results than Myrobalan, and can be recommended for establishing intensive plum plantations with higher planting density. The best results in terms of yield and fruit quality were obtained with the 'Fereley' rootstock., U radu je ispitivan uticaj tri vegetativne podloge (Pixy, Fereley i St. Julien A) i sejanaca džanarike (kontrola) na rast, rodnost i kvalitet ploda sorte šljive Čačanska rana.

AB - The aim of this research was to analyze sugars and phenolics of pollen obtained from 15 different 'Oblainska' sour cherry clones and to assess the chemical fingerprint of this cultivar. Carbohydrate analysis was done using high-performance anion-exchange chromatography (HPAEC) with pulsed amperometric detection (PAD), while polyphenols were analyzed by ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-diode array detector-tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-DAD MS/MS) system. Glucose was the most abundant sugar, followed by fructose and sucrose. Some samples had high level of stress sugars, especially trehalose. Rutin was predominantly polyphenol in a quantity up to 181.12 mg/kg (clone III/9), with chlorogenic acid (up to 59.93 mg/kg in clone III/9) and p-coumaric acid (up to 53.99 mg/kg in clone VIII/1) coming after. According to the principal component analysis (PCA), fructose, maltose, maltotriose, sorbitol, and trehalose were the most important sugars in separating pollen samples. PCA showed splitting off clones VIII/1, IV/8, III/9, and V/P according to the quantity of phenolics and dissimilar profiles. Large differences in chemical composition of studied 'Oblainska sour cherry' clone pollen were shown, proving that it is not a cultivar, but population. Finally, due to the highest level of phenolics, clones IV/8, XV/3, and VIII/1 could be singled out as a promising one for producing functional food and/or in medicinal treatments.

AB - Wild fruits grown in Serbia, i.e., elderberry (Sambucus nigra), hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna), cornelian cherry (Cornus mas), and blackthorn (Prunus spinosa), are rich in secondary metabolites. In this study, the polyphenolic composition of wild fruit extracts and their antioxidant capacity were investigated by in vitro assays. Elderberry was characterized by the presence of arbutin (a skin protector), and cornelian cherry by syringic and gallic acids. In blackthorn, at least 11 different phenolic compounds were reported for the first time, including vanillic acid and naringin, the metabolite present in the highest amount. Blackthorn extracts were the richest in polyphenols (11.24-18.70g GAE/kgFW) and had the highest activity in the DPPH radical test (180.93-267.11mMTE/mL), while cornelian cherry extracts showed the most effective ferric ion chelating (81.37-90.66%) and antityrosinase inhibition capacities (21.75-74.23%). No sample was able to scavenge NO. Using the principal component analysis, wild fruit samples were classified into four separate clusters due to distinctive phenolic profiles and antioxidant capacity. Our investigation showed how every fruit could be considered unique in terms of its phytonutrient content. Thus, Serbian wild fruits may be a great source of bioactive natural compounds and could be therefore considered particularly useful in food supplement production. Particularly, as a source of natural antioxidants, these species could be used to extend the shelf life of food products and replace synthetic antioxidants, avoiding potential health risks and toxicity.

AB - The presence of pollinators in orchards is crucial to obtain high fruit set and yields of fruits. Despite the fact that sour cherry cultivars are mainly autogamous, insect visits are still of great importance for their propagation. In order to attract and reward pollinators, flowers have to provide adequate nourishment to them. Besides nectar, bees gather pollen, which are a prerequisite for normal colony growth and development of their broods. 'Oblačinska' sour cherry (Prunus cerasus L.), an autochthonous cultivar, is the most highly planted cultivar in Serbian commercial orchards. Since the cultivar is actually a mixture of different clones, variability in numerous traits and, particularly, its yields has been reported. Since phenolic compounds are considered to be fundamental pollen chemicals, the aim of this study was to determine the phenolic compounds profile in pollen collected from 15 'Oblačinska' sour cherry clones with varying productivity levels. Solid phase extraction (SPE), combined with ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with a diode array detector and a triple quadruple mass spectrometer (UHPLC DAD-MS/MS), was used to analyse the polyphenolic profile of pollen. Among 23 components quantified, rutin was the most abundant phenolic compound. It ranged from 98.49 (clone V/P) to 358.83 mg kg-1 (clone III/9) and was observed to contribute, on average, 56% of the total phenolic compounds in pollen as quantified in different 'Oblačinska' sour cherry clones. In addition to this compound, clones contained significant amounts of chlorogenic acid (12.92%), astragalin (8.19%), and hyperoside (5.59%) as well. Cluster analysis grouped pollen clones in four different clusters, which showed that clones III/9, IV/8, and V/P had unique phenolic profiles. Despite the significant differences among the studied clones, the contents of chlorogenic acid, rutin, naringin, hyperoside, astralgin, and phlorizin were distinguishable between the clusters.

AB - BACKGROUND: The compositional, functional, and nutritional properties of fruits are important for defining their quality. Fruit seeds should be better exploited as they are also considered to be a good source of bioactive components. Twenty macro, micro, and trace elements were identified and quantified in the seeds of 70 genuine wild and cultivated fruit species/cultivars by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. Sophisticated chemometric techniques were also used to establish criteria for the classification of the analyzed samples. RESULTS Calcium and P were the most abundant elements, followed by K and Na. The content of microelements and trace elements differed among the different cultivars/genotypes. The content of Ba, Pb, and Sr was significantly higher in wild fruits, whereas Fe, Mg, Mn, Ni and Zn content was higher in cultivated fruits. CONCLUSION All of the statistical procedures that were used - Kruskal-Wallis, Mann-Whitney U-test, and principal component analysis (PCA) - confirm a unique set of parameters that could be used as phytochemical biomarkers to differentiate fruit-seed samples belonging to different cultivars/genotypes according to their botanical origin. This kind of investigation may contribute to intercultivar/genetic discrimination and may enhance the possibilities of acquiring a valuable authenticity factor.

AB - The focus of our research was to evaluate different apples cultivars in terms of their biological properties and bioactive compounds content, and determine the levels of their resistance (or susceptibility) to fire blight. The properties of 10 scab-resistant apple cultivars were examined on the Zica monastery estate (West Serbia) during the period from 2011 to 2015. The biological and chemical properties such as firmness, maturity stage, total soluble solids, total acids, total and reducing sugars, ascorbic acid content and surface blush of apple fruits were monitored. Various phenolic compounds in the tested samples were tentatively identified by LC-MS analyses. A study of generative properties included: number of flowerbuds, fruit mass and width, crop load, yield efficiency and yield. During the period of blooming and intensive shoot growth, artificial inoculations were carried out. For each cultivar, a fire blight score was determined by dividing the average length of necrotic tissue by the average total shoot length. In the study period, the cultivars 'CroldRush' (41.1 t ha(-1)) and 'Florina' (35.9 t ha(-1)) produced the highest yields, and the cultivars 'Discovery' (19.0 t ha(-1)) and Selection 25/63 (15.1 t ha(-1)) the lowest. The cultivar 'William's Pride' produced the largest fruits, with an average fruit mass of 206.8 g. The earliest harvest period was recorded for the cultivar 'Discovery' (end of July), and the latest for the cultivar 'CroldRush' (beginning of October). The cultivar 'Enterprise' had the highest value of total phenols (432.2 mg 100 g(-1) FW), while the cultivar 'Topaz' had the highest value of total flavanols (145.2 mg 100 g(-1) FW). The highest degree of susceptibility to fire blight was found in Selection 25/63, and the greatest resistance was manifested by the cultivar 'CroldRush'. In the five-year study period, the cultivars 'GoldRush', 'Rewena' and 'Enterprise' exhibited better bio-chemical properties and higher levels of resistance to fire blight than the remaining cultivars.

abstract = "The focus of our research was to evaluate different apples cultivars in terms of their biological properties and bioactive compounds content, and determine the levels of their resistance (or susceptibility) to fire blight. AB - Pollen viability of eight quince cultivars (ʻLeskovackaʼ, ʻVranjskaʼ, ʻMoravaʼ, ʻPazardzijskaʼ, ʻHemusʼ,
ʻAsenicaʼ, ʻPortugalʼ and ʻTriumphʼ), was studied in the two-year period (2011-2012). Testing of
pollen viability was performed using two methods: the staining of pollen with acetocarmine (indirect
method) and pollen germination in vitro with sucrose and agar-agar (direct method). Studied
cultivars differed significantly in terms of pollen viability. The lowest percentage of stained pollen
grains was detected in ʻLeskovackaʼ cultivar (70.29%) and the highest in the cultivars ʻAsenicaʼ,
ʻHemusʼ and ʻTriumphʼ (over 90%). Similarly to that, the lowest percentage of pollen germination
was obtained in ʻLeskovackaʼ cultivar (62.86%) and the highest in the cultivars ʻMoravaʼ, ʻAsenicaʼ,
and ʻTriumphʼ (over 80%). With the exception of ʻPortugalʼ cultivar, the values of pollen viability
determined by staining with acetocarmine were higher for 3-15% compared to the pollen
germination in vitro. However, values obtained using these tho methods are highly positively
correlated. On the basis of obtained results, the both methods can be recommended as reliable tests
for pollen viability of quince, although priority should be given to the method of pollen germination
in vitro, because it is more accurate. All tested cultivars are distinguished for high pollen viability,
and can be successfully used as male parents in hybridization. In addition, they also can be
recommended as a good pollenisers when are planting new quince orchards.

AB - The suitability of five apricot cultivars: ‘Aurora’, ‘Laycot’, ‘Pinkcot’, ‘Sylred’ and ‘Veecot’ as pollenizers for ‘Goldrich’ were studied. The study included the phenology of flowering, pollen germination, fruit set and growth of pollen tubes in vivo in the pistil. Pollen germination was determined on the medium with agar and 15% sucrose. The growth of pollen tubes in the pistil was determined by fluorescence microscopy, and fixation of pistils was done in three terms (2, 4 and 6 days after pollination). Regarding the flowering time, all tested cultivars overlapped well with ‘Goldrich’. Besides, all tested cultivars had good pollen germination, ranging from 58 to 74%. The highest fruit set was obtained in combinations with ‘Veecot’ (34%) and ‘Sylred’ (30%). Significantly lower fruit set was obtained in combinations with ‘Laycot’ (17%) and ‘Pinkcot’ (15%), while the combination with ‘Aurora’ gave the lowest fruit set (4%). First pollen tubes at the base of the style were observed on the second day after pollination, but their number increased significantly on the fourth day after pollination. Later, on the sixth day after pollination, the number of pollen tubes was not significantly increased. Number of pollen tubes at the base of the style and in the ovary was significantly higher in variants with ‘Veecot’, ‘Sylred’, ‘Pinkcot’ and ‘Laycot’, comparing to the variant with ‘Aurora’. Based on these results, ‘Veecot’ and ‘Sylred’ can be recommended as the best pollenizers for ‘Goldrich’. Satisfactory results were given by ‘Pinkcot’ and ‘Laycot’, while ‘Aurora’ proved to be a bad pollenizer.

AB - The mode of inheritance and the degree of phenotypic correlation between some more important agronomic traits in two offsprings obtained by direct and reciprocal crossing of cultivars 'Smederevka' and 'Gewurztraminer' were investigated in this study. In 62 genotypes from direct crossing (Smederevka x Gewurztraminer) and 66 genotypes from reciprocal crossing (Gewurztraminer x Smederevka), the traits evaluated were as follows: time of bud burst, flowering time, ripening time, bunch weight, berry weight, grape yield, sugar content of must and total acidity of must. The genotypes of F-1 generation for the investigated traits were arranged into a number of categories by the OIV method. In both crossing combinations (direct and reciprocal) for most traits, the same mode of inheritance (partial dominance, dominance or heterosis) was determined. Differences in the mode of inheritance, depending on whether the parental varieties were used as a father or mother, were found only for ripening time (partial dominance and intermediate inheritance). The prevailing mode of inheritance established for most of studied traits, regardless of the crossing method, was negative heterosis. From all examined traits, a significant influence of maternal effect was determined for the inheritance of flowering time and ripening time. In both crossing combinations, statistically significant phenotypic correlations were found between some studied traits.

AB - Evaluation of 11 introduced Canadian apricot cultivars was conducted in the region of Belgrade during
a six-year period (2009‡2014). Control cultivar for comparison was ‘Hungarian Best’. Studies have included
time of flowering and ripening, yield, and fruit quality. In addition, self-(in)compatibility trait was studied
by means of fluorescence microscopy. Canadian cultivars began to flower one to five days before ‘Hungarian
Best’, while average harvest date was earlier in four cultivars, and later in seven cultivars. Compared with the
control cultivar, significantly higher yield was achieved in cultivars ‘Harcot’, Harojoy’, ‘Sundrop’, ‘Harogem’,
and ‘Harostar’. Significantly larger fruit size was achieved in ‘Laycot’, while smaller size was found in cultivars
‘Harlayne’, ‘Harglow’, ‘Harostar’ and ‘Sundrop’. Most of the introduced cultivars had better scores for fruit appearance,
while scores for fruit quality were lower or at the same level as in control cultivar. Nine of studied cultivars
were self-incompatible, while only two were self-compatible (‘Harlayne’ and ‘Harogem’).

and ‘Harostar’.
Nine of studied cultivars
were self-incompatible, while only two were self-compatible (‘Harlayne’ and ‘Harogem’).",

fenološke osobine, bujnost, rodnost i kvalitet ploda 14 stonih sorti šljive. Kao standard za
poređenje je uzeta sorta Čačanska lepotica. Cvetanje ispitivanih sorti je bilo krajem marta i u
prvoj polovini aprila, a zrenje plodova od kraja juna (Boranka) do početka septembra (Pozna
plava).
pokazale sorte: Valor, Empres, Prezident, Tophit i Čačanska najbolja.

AB - Phenological characteristics, yield and fruit quality of 14 medium-late ripening plum cultivars, were studied in the region of Belgrade during the five-year period (2013-2017). The control cultivar for comparison was 'Čačanska rodna'. Flowering of tested cultivars occurred in the first half of April, and fruit maturation was in the first half of August. The average yield per tree was the lowest in the 'Nevena' cultivar (1.6 kg), and the highest in the 'Mildora' cultivar (22.5 kg). Compared to the control cultivar, significantly lower yield was achieved in seven cultivars. The lowest vigor was determined in the standard cultivar ('Čačanska rodna'), and the highest in the 'Milka' cultivar. The average fruit weight ranged from 19.5 g in the 'Nevena' cultivar to 50.5 g in the 'Valor' cultivar. Compared to the control, fruit weight was statistically significantly higher in five cultivars. In all studied cultivars, the high soluble solids content (over 17%) was found, while in cultivars 'Mildora' and 'Valor' it was significantly higher than in the control. On the basis of the obtained results, as regards cultivation in the region of Belgrade, it is possible to recommend the following cultivars: 'Valor' and 'Čačanska najbolja' as predominantly table cultivars (for fresh consumption), 'Jojo' and 'Vengerka krupna slatka' as cultivars of combined characteristics and 'Mildora' as a cultivar for processing.

AB - Phenolic profiles of young monovarietal white and red wines from the Central Serbia were investigated. Quantification of phenolics was done using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) coupled with a diode array detector and a triple-quadrupole mass spectrometer. Generally, red wines were characterised with higher phenolics content when compared to the white wines. This applies also for the total phenolics content (TPC) and radical scavenging activity (RSA) values. Among all the samples, the red wine from autochthonous Serbian variety Prokupac' stood out with unique composition, showing the highest TPC, RSA and the highest concentration of the individual phenolics. Finally, based on a specific phenolic pattern, principal component analysis (PCA) indicated clustering of red and white wines, with the Prokupac' as a prominent outlier. [GRAPHICS] .

AB - Variability and mode of heredity of some important qualitative and quantitative grapevine characteristics in 45 seedlings of F-1 generation obtained from crossing combination Seedling 113 x Muscat Hamburg were investigated in this study. The seedlings of F-1 generation for the investigated characteristics were arranged in certain number of categories by the OIV method. As variability indexes, standard deviation (S) and coefficient of variation (V) were used. Evaluation of the mode of heredity was done by chi(2) test and t-test. Considering examined characteristics, the highest variability showed grape yield (V=58.9%), and the lowest sugar content in must (V=16.3%). Color of berry skin, cluster resistance to Botrytis cinerea and leaf resistance to Plasmopara viticola showed monogenic mode of heredity. Exception from the monogenic mode of heredity was determined for the flavor of berry. Grape yield, bunch weight and berry weight showed negative heterosis. For the sugar content in must, domination of the parent with low sugar content in must was determined.
