AB - Microstructure properties of barium-titanate based materials, expressed in grain boundary contacts, are of basic importance for electric properties of these material. In this study, the model of intergranular impedance applied on two-grain contact is considered. Globally, BaTiO3-ceramics sample is consisted of a huge number of mutually contacted grains which form clusters. Such clusters can be presented as a specific fractal formations. For each of them, it is possible to establish the equivalent electrical model and, for defined set of input parameters, using symbolic analysis, obtain the frequency diagram. The influence of fractal structure is especially stressed. Realizing the totality of relations between clusters grains groups, their microelectrical schemes and corresponding frequency characteristics, from one side, and global equivalent electrical scheme and corresponding acquired frequency characteristics of BaTiO3-ceramics samples, on the other side, we set a goal of coinciding experimental results with the summing effect of microelectric equivalent schemes. The model is successfully tested on doped barium-titanate ceramics.

AB - In this article the additives Yb and Er oxides are used as doping materials for BaTiO3-based multilayer devices. The amphoteric behavior of these rare-earth ions leads to the increase of dielectric permittivity and decrease of dielectric losses. BaTiO3-ceramics doped with 0.01 up to 0.5 wt % of Yb2O3 and Er2O3 were prepared by conventional solid state procedure and sintered up to 1320 degrees C for four hours. In BaTiO3 doped with a low level of rare-earth ions the grain size ranged from 10-60 mu m. With the higher dopant concentration the abnormal grain growth is inhibited and the grain size ranged from between 2-10 mu m. The measurements of capacitance and dielectric losses as a function of frequency and temperature have been done in order to correlate the microstructure and dielectric properties of doped BaTiO3-ceramics. The temperature dependence of the dielectric constant as a function of dopant amount has been investigated.

AB - Doped barium-titanate ceramic is attracting much interest for its application as resistors with a positive temperature coefficient of resistivity (PTCR), multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC), thermal sensors etc. In this article the influence of Yb2O3, Er2O 3 and Ho2O3 on microstructure development and dielectric properties of BaTiO3 ceramics has been presented. BaTiO3-ceramics doped with 0.5 up to 1 wt % of Yb2O 3, Er2O3 and Ho2O3 were prepared by conventional solid state procedure and sintered up to 1320°C for two hours. Microstructure investigations of doped BaTiO3 was performed using the scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS) and stereological methods. The measurements of capacitance and dielectric losses as a function of frequency and temperature were evaluated by matching model. Special attention has been focused on the study of the changes in morphology, grain and pore size distribution of the sintered specimens and their correlation with the change of capacity, dielectric permittivity and Curie temperature.
