AB - The paper presents the results of a two-year study of the influence of different vine loads with fertile buds on the agrobiological, economic and technological characteristics of the Cardinal variety. The research was carried out in the vineyard of the Biotechnical Faculty in Podgorica subregion. Four different vine loads with fertile buds were applied: 8, 12, 16 and 18 buds. The results of the research showed that the applied loads had a significant impact on the examined parameters of the Cardinal variety. The obtained results on the average yield of grapes show that the lowest value of this parameter was the variant with a load of 8 buds-1.45 kg m-2, while the highest grape yield was recorded for the variant with a load of 16 buds (2.03 kg m-2). V1 variant had the highest average bunch (386 g) and berries (7g) weight, while V4 had the smallest bunch (285 g) and berries (5.95 g) weight. The quality of the grapes also varied significantly under the influence of the vine load. The highest sugar content in must was recorded in the variant with a load of 8 buds-15.79%, and the lowest in the variant with 18 buds-14.30%. The acid content did not differ significantly between the tested variants. V4 variant had the highest-4.30 g/l, and V1 and V3 variants-4.05 g/l measured the lowest acid content. © 2023, University of Montenegro. All rights reserved.

AB - In this work by encapsulation technique we have synthetized three new clove bud essential oil (CEO) Emulsifiable Concentrate (EC) formulations depending on the carrier (synthetic zeolite-F-CSZ, nature zeolite-F-CNZ and gelatin-F-CG). The main idea was to develop an eco-friendly biopesticide that can find use in plant protection as an alternative to the use of conventional pesticides. By encapsulation we wanted to enable water solubility and ensure prolonged efficacy of the essential oil. Biological activity of designed CEO formulations was tested on potato tuber moth Phthorimaea operculella (fumigant mode of action), gray mold fungal pathogen Botrytis cinerea (preserver coatings), and soft rotting bacterial pathogens Pectobacterium carotovorum (subsp. carotovorum and brasiliensis) and Dickeya dianthicola (direct competition). CEO formulations evinced a prolonged action on mortality of P. operculella during the insects’ exposure to the concentration of the emulsions of 40 µL L−1 air. The mortality gradually decreased from a probability of 100% after the first 24 h to 50% after 5 days for F-CSZ or after 4 days for F-CNZ and F-CG. The most promising formulation is F-CSZ enabling activity during 14 days of exposure, while the effect of the other two formulations lasted 10 days. All three formulations produced a strong fungicidal effect against B. cinerea by preventing infection and disease development. The best efficacy was evidenced with F-CSZ (synthetic zeolite as a carrier) showing 100% efficacy when it was used even at the lowest tested concentration of active CEO (1%). The results of in vitro testing against soft rot pathogens determined the MIC value of CEO formulations to be 1% of active CEO. By this research, we present a novel perspective on the use of essential oils as an alternative, environmental biopesticide. CEO formulations can be commercially exploited as a fumigant or preserver coatings to extend the shelf life of stored products or the fresh-fruit market.

AB - Characterisations of thirty grapevine varieties (Vitis vinifera L.) from the experimental vineyard ‘Radmilovac’ were conducted using a large number of OIV descriptors and eight highly polymorphic microsatellite loci. The ampelographic description contained 45 features. Molecular characterisation of selected microsatellite loci was performed using capillary electrophoresis fragment analysis. Dendrograms based on ampelographic and genetic data resulted in three groups of varieties. Qualitative ampelographic characteristics tended to manifest significant differences. The most common deviation among varieties within the group was in the characteristic OIV 051 (colouration of the upper side of a young leaf). Genetic characterisation of SSR markers through analyses of a large number of varieties contributes to better organisation of grapevine collections and simpler identification of varieties, as well as data exchange. When identifying the varieties, the results of the DNA analysis should be combined with the ampelographic descriptors, in order to select grapevine varieties with desirable viticultural and oenological traits. Integration of the obtained genetic data with the ampelographic data is of utmost importance for accurate identification of the varieties and offers a significant means for the preservation and use of the varieties.

AB - The aim of this study was to determine the impact of the origin of planting material and size of seed tubers, on the productive properties of most commonly grown potato cultivars Cleopatra, Jaerla, Desiree and Kennebec in Western Serbia (Macva). Potato seed-producing crop, from which the planting material came from, was grown during 2007 at two sites with different altitude: a plain region 72 m a.s.l. and a mountainous region 1100 m a.s.l. Evaluating the presence of the two most widespread potato virus (PYV) and (PLRV in our conditions was performed by ELISA test. The investigation was carried out by planting the following mass of planted material: 50 ± 5g, 70 ± 5g, 90 ± 5g and 110 ± 5g in 2008 year. Planted tubers originating from 72 m a.s.l. produced a total yield of 29.10 t ha1- .The difference was higher than the variant with planted tubers originating from 1100 m a.s.l. by 1.30 t ha1- (4.50 %). The highest total yield of 30.80 t ha1- was achieved by planting the largest mass (110 g) and the lowest 25.50 t ha1- by planting the smallest mass (50 g) of the tuber.
Proizvodnja sadnog materijala krompira izvedena je 2007. godine u dva lokaliteta različite nadmorske visine (nv): ravničarskom 72 m i planinskom regionu 1100 m (nv).

The investigation was carried out by planting the following mass of planted material: 50 ± 5g, 70 ± 5g, 90 ± 5g and 110 ± 5g in 2007 and 2008 year to produce planting material. Planted tubers originating from 72 m a.s.l. produced a total yield (a two year average) of 26.25 t ha-1. The difference was significantly higher than the variant with planted tubers originating from 1100 m a.s.l. by 2.02 t ha-1 (7.7%). The two year mean highest total yield of 27.87 t ha-1 was achieved by planting the largest mass (110 g) and the lowest 21.07 t ha-1 by planting the smallest mass (50 g) of the tuber. Higher yields of potato tubers in moist conditions in western Serbia (Macva) were achieved by planting larger mass of tubers originating from lower altitude., Cilj rada je bio da se utvrdi uticaj porekla sadnog materijala i mase semenske krtole na ukupan prinos najčešće gajene sorte krompira Desiree u uslovima zapadne Srbije (Mačve). AB - The aim of this study was to determine the impact of the size of tubers originating form different altitudes, on the yield of most commonly grown potato cultivars Cleopatra, Jaerla, Desiree and Kennebec in western Serbia (Macva). Potato seed-producing crop, from which the planting material came from, was grown during 2006 at two sites with different altitude: a plain region 72m a.s.l. and a mountainous region 1100m a.s.l. Evaluating the presence of the two most widespread potato virus (PYV) and (PLRV) in our conditions was performed by ELISA test. The investigation was carried out by planting the following mass of planted material: 50 ± 5g, 70 ± 5g, 90 ± 5g and 110 ± 5g in 2007 year. Higher yields of potato tubers in moist conditions in western Serbia (Macva) was achieved by planting larger mass of tubers originating from the lower altitude and shorter growing season varieties.
