AB - The farm animal welfare science has undergone a thorny path of development, often disputed because of its lack of measurability and the purpose of existence. At the very beginning, primarily based on moral and ethical attitudes, over time it pointed to the importance of meeting the needs of animals and the consequences of their neglect and exhaustion in the conditions of intensive livestock production. An important segment of its development was the definition and development of methodologies for the assessment of welfare indicators, which made it measurable and accepted as a scientific discipline with the knowledge applicable and useful in modern production systems. This paper is a concise review of the evolution of the animal welfare science, but also an indication of its future in the context of the development of "symbiotic" connections with the concepts of sustainable agriculture and food safety as integral parts of the modern ecological movement arose from a unified concern for the welfare of people and animals, a care for planetary welfare in general.

AB - The objective of the present study was to investigate the effect of multiphase nutrition, i.e. different mixtures used in broiler nutrition, whose protein content was reduced in several phases, on production performances of broilers. The study was performed on 1216 individually tagged chickens of the Ross 308 strain, separated by sex, and divided into four groups. The standard fattening technology, with four nutrition treatments, was applied during the trial period (1-21 days). Chickens of the first group (control) were fed diet containing 23% of proteins from the 1st to 21st day, while the protein content in the remaining three trial groups was reduced during the trial period in several phases. Based on processed data it can be concluded that different programmes of multiphase nutrition had resulted in different effects on production performances of male and female chickens. Multiphase nutrition at the end of the starter period (21st day) had no statistically significant effect on a body weight of male and female chickens, i.e. the reduction of the protein level in mixtures for broilers had no effect on the decrease of the body weight compared to control male (723.48 g) and female (680.66 g) chickens. At the same time, programmes of multiphase nutrition (T4) resulted in the most favourable feed conversion in male (1.468) and female (1.502) chickens, which is in favour of the application of multiphase nutrition, considering that the difference in feed conversion can be essential for accomplishing positive economical results in the production. .

AB - Multi-phased broiler diet is important for optimizing nutrition, production economy and environmental protection. By observing the fattening period, we can conclude that the early fattening phases are given special attention and that the nutrition during the starter period is especially significant for obtaining optimal production performance. The aim of this study was to examine the influence of multi-phase diet (or rather different mixtures of broiler feed where the protein content was reduced by multiple phases) on the production features of fattening chickens during the first stage of fattening. Testing was conducted on 608 individually marked male chickens, of the Ross 308 type, divided into four groups: T1 (control group) - food mixture with 23% protein content between the 1st - 21st day; T2 - nutrition between the 1st to 7th day using a mixture with 23% protein content followed by nutrition with 21.5% protein content between the 7th and 21st day; T3 - nutrition between 1st - 14th day using a mixture with 23% protein content followed by nutrition with 21.5% protein content between 14th - 21st day, and T4 - nutrition between 1st and 3rd day using a mixture with 23% protein content, followed by a nutrition with 22.55% protein content between 4th to 6th day, and a nutrition with 22.10% protein content between 7th and 9th day, then 21.65% protein content between 10th to 12th day, then 21.20% protein content between 13th - 15th day, then 20.75% protein content between 16th - 18th day and ending with 20.30% protein content between 19th and 21st day. In the experimental period (from 1st - 21st day) the basic production parameters were observed. The analysis of gathered data revealed that the chickens in the T1 (138.14 g, 361.29 g), T2 (137.40 g, 354.83 g) and T3 (137.75 g, 356.65 g) groups achieved significantly higher body mass in the first two weeks compared to chickens in the T4 (133.56 g, 340.08 g) group. However, in the last week of fattening there was a reduction in body weight differences between the T4 group and the other groups, so that by the end of the starter period (21 days) the difference was not statistically significant. Notably, the food conversion in a sample group T4 (1.462) was more efficient when compared to T1 (1.528), T2 (1.646) and T3 (1.572) groups. The multi-phase diet program had no impact on the mortality rate. Although the growth of body weight at the end of the starter period is nearly equal, the difference in conversion efficiency can be crucial for achieving positive economic production effects.

AB - Turkey meat is a widely praised commodity due to its high nutritive value. Furthermore, due to its high protein and low energy content, turkey meat is at an advantage when compared to the meat of other domestic animals which, in term, results in increased production and consumption of turkey meat. In the Republic of Serbia, turkey meat production is based on using imported fattening turkey hybrids, mainly hybrid BUT Big 6 in the recent years. This research provides a data analysis of slaughter output ratios, average yield and the quota of certain body parts and the correlative relation between the weight of the animals before the slaughtering and the ratio of certain body parts in the total output. It has been determined that male turkeys had lower ratios when compared to the female turkeys of the same age with a reduced presence of breast meat and a higher ratio of head, neck and feet. The goal of this research was to determine the slaughtering properties of the BUT Big 6 hybrid in the production conditions of the Republic of Serbia.
U radu je data analiza podataka o klaničnim randmanima, prinosu i udelu pojedinih delova trupa i korelacionoj povezanosti mase grla pre klanja i udela pojedinih delova.

AB - The aim of this work was to investigate production traits of meat type chickens of Hybro strain, which are present at our market for years, as well as Ross 308 strain, which are present also, but in considerable smaller volume. The investigation lasted 6 weeks and included 3000 chicks, that is 1500 chicks per strain. On the basis of obtained results, it was established that chickens of Hybro G strain had higher initial (47.3 g) and final average body weight (2.317,9 g), better feed conversion (1.925), smaller mortality (3.71 %) and higher value of performance index.

AB - The object of this study was to compare the basic carcass traits of Hybro strain, as one of the most represented at our market for many years, and Ross 308 strain, watch is also represented in our country, but in considerable sualler volume. The experimental examination included conformation measures dressing percentages, the yields of most important main carcass parts and abdominal fat in Hybro G and Ross 308 chicks. The differences between average body weight of chicks prior to slaughtering (Hybro G 2097.50 g; Ross 308 1977.25 g) were insignificant (P > 0.05). Significant differences between average values of many conformation measures (shank length drumstick circumference, breast depth) in chicks, Hybro G and Ross 308 were established (P lt 0.05). The differences in average dressing percentages, as well as in yields of most important main carcass parts (breasts, drumsticks thighs) and abdominal eat between Hybro G and Ross 308 chisky were insignificant (P > 0.05).
Oglednim istraživanjem obuhvaćene su mere konformacije, klanični randmani i udeli najvažnijih osnovnih delova trupa i abdominalne masti pilića provenijenci Hybro G i Ross 308. Razlike prosečnih telesnih masa pre klanja pilića provenijenci Hybro G (2097,50 g) i Ross 308 (1977,25 g) nisu bile statistički značajne (P > 0,05). Zabeležene razlike prosečnih vrednosti apsolutnih pokazatelja, za veći broj osobina mera konformacije (dužina piska, obim bataka i dubina grudi) provenijenci Hybro G i Ross 308 bile su značajne na nivou 5%. Razlike u vrednostima randmana pilića provenijenci Hybro G i Ross 308 nisu pokazale statističku značajnost kao ni razlike procentualnog učešća naj-važnijih osnovnih delova trupa (grudi bataka i karabataka) i abdominalne masti.
