AB - Solid-state reaction between BaTiO3and Fe2O3was used to produce a multiferroic heterostructure composite. Commercial BaTiO3and Fe(NO3)3•9H2O were suspended in ethanol for 30 minutes in an ultrasound bath. The prepared mixture was thermally processed at 300°C for 6 h. Sintering at 1300 °C for 1 h resulted in a mixture of different phases, BaTiO3, BaFe12O19and Ba12Ti28Fe15O84, which were confirmed by x-ray powder diffraction. A dense microstructure with a small volume fraction of closed porosity was indicated by the scanning electron microscopy, while a homogeneous distribution of Fe ions over BaTiO3phase was visible from energy dispersive spectroscopy mapping. Doping of BaTiO3with Fe2O3resulted in formation of magnetic hexaferrite phases, as confirmed by dielectric measurements that showed a broadened maximum of the permittivity measured as a function of temperature.

AB - The paper presents results of the influence of mechanical activation of shungite, a carbon-mineral rock material rich in silica and carbon, on its sintering behaviour, and obtaining of pure SiC ceramics. The mechanical activation of the starting powder was performed in a high-energy ball mill in time intervals from 30 to 480 min. The phase composition of the starting powders and sintered samples was analysed by the X-ray diffraction method. The first traces of SiC were detected after sintering at 1350 °C for 2 h in an Ar atmosphere, along with traces of unreacted SiO2. The scanning electron microscopy was performed in order to determine changes in the microstructure. Sintering was performed at various temperatures for 2 h, in an Ar atmosphere and a vacuum. Dielectric properties of the sintered samples were measured in the frequency range from 1 to 500 MHz. The obtained results indicate that the sintered powder is a good candidate for applications as an absorber of electromagnetic waves in microwave engineering.

AB - Single phase MgAl2O4 was made from a one-to-one molar ratio of MgO and Al2O3 powders mixed using ball-milling. Mixtures of MgO and Al2O3 were subsequently treated in planetary ball mill for 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes in air. The aim of this study was to examine phase composition, microstructure, and densification behavior of sintered specimens. After sintering in dilatometer at 1500 °C, the powder was converted to single phase MgAl2O4. The results show that mechanical activation improved the densification behavior of MgAl2O4 sintered specimens, and it reduced the onset temperature for sintering by approx. 100oC. Based on dilatometer data, powders were subsequently densified at 1450oC by hot pressing. Almost аll specimens exhibited full density, while sample activated for 30 minutes showed the fastest densification rate.

Populaciona varijabilnost invazivne korovske vrste Abutilon theophrasti Medic.

AB - The aim of this work was to analyse the kinetics and microstructure evolution of ZnO sintering process. ZnO powder was isothermally sintered (15, 30, 60, 90 and 120 min) in the temperature range from 8000C to 12000C. The values of Lenel parameter were calculated and used for the analysis of the densification and mass transport processes. Using scanning electron microscopy the analysis of the microstructure evolution and dependence of the average grain size with temperature and time of sintering was obtained. The results of this research could enable development of a new phenomenological equations in the analyses of ZnO-based materials sintering kinetics.

AB - Mixtures of MgO-TiO2 were mechanically activated using high-energy planetary ball mill during 5, 10, 20, 40, 80 and 120 minutes. Sintering process was preformed in air at 1100°-1400°C for 2h. The decrease in powder's particle size was noticed as the time of mechanical activation increased and confirmed by particle size analyzer. XRD analyses were performed in order to acquire the information about phase composition. Different ratio mixtures of MgTiO3 and Mg2TiO4 are present within all sintered samples. The effect of tribophysical activation on microstructure was investigated by scanning electron microscopy. The differential thermal gravimetric analysis has been performed in order to investigate thermal behaviour of the mixtures.
AB - Smeše MgO-TiO2 su mehanički aktivirane u visoko-energetskom planetarnom mlinu tokom 5, 10, 20, 40, 80 i 120 minuta.

AB - The aim of this work was to analyze the influence of mechanical activation on the MgCO3-TiO2 system. Mixtures of MgCO3-TiO2 were mechanically activated for 15, 30, 60 and 120 minutes in a planetary ball mill and after that sintered at 1100°C for 1h. XRD analyses were performed in order to give information about the phase composition and to determine a variety of microstructure parameters using Scherrer's method. Also, the effect of tribophysical activation and sintering process on microstructure was investigated by scanning electron microscopy. Electrical measurements were performed in order to determine electrical properties of sintered samples. Our conclusions are that the sample activated for 120 min showed the best electrical properties ( ε r=23.86, Q=233, ρ=0.38) and exhibited the best sinterability.
