Postharvest residues from grass seed crops for bioenergy

AB  - During grass seed production, a large amount of low forage quality biomass has been produced. Tall growing perennial grasses such as tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea L.) and Italian ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) can be used as an alternative source for bioenergy production as they can be grown in less cultivated areas, their residues in seed production could be valuable energy source and can be potentially used as a dual purpose crop (bioenergy and forage). In this research, potentials of yearly biomass production of two important forage grasses grown for seed (Italian ryegrass and tall fescue) varying modes of sowing and nitrogen fertilisation were shown. As a byproduct, postharvest residues of Italian ryegrass reached to 8.8 t/ha in the Mačva region in favourable weather conditions, during 4-year production, while tall fescue reached in southern Banat 10.6 t/ha in the first and 15.1 t/ha in the second year of production.
AB  - Pri proizvodnji semena trava se stvara velika količina biomase koja je slabijeg kvaliteta za ishranu domaćih životinja, ali može biti pogodna za korišćenje kao izvor energije biljnog porekla. Na primeru gajenja dve travne vrste, italijanskog ljulja tokom 4 godine (2003-2006) i visokog vijuka tokom 2 godine (2014-2015) za seme, kroz različite mere agrotehnike (varirajuće načine setve i đubrenja azotom) su prikazani potencijali godišnje produkcije biomase. U skladu sa zemljištem i osobinama trava su primenjeni sledeći međuredni razmaci: 20, 40 i 60 cm za italijanski ljulj i 15, 30, 45 i 60 cm za visoki vijuk, setvene norme od 5, 10, 15 i 20 kg/ha za obe vrste i prolećna prihrana sa 0 i 75 kg/ha N visokog vijuka i 0, 50, 100 i 150 kg/ha kod italijanskog ljulja. Italijanski ljulj je tokom 4 godine ispitivanja na području Mačve imao maksimalni prinos od 8,8 t/ha iz dva otkosa, u prvoj godini proizvodnje semena, pri povoljnim meteorološkim uslovima. Visoki vijuk je u prvoj godini proizvodnje semena u uslovima južnog Banata ostvario maksimalno 10,6 t/ha iz dva otkosa, pri najvećem međurednom rastojanju gajenja (60 cm), kao i 15,1 t/ha u drugoj godini na istom međurednom rastojanju. Prinosi biomase trava ostvareni uz skromnu agrotehniku, u sklopu proizvodnje semena trava, ukazuju na značajan potencijal za proizvodnju bioenergije.

Effect of fertilization and undersowing on occupation area of park lawn

AB  - The research was carried out at the park lawn in Banatsko Novo Selo, in the region of Južni Banat in 2012. Objective of the study was the effect of application of fertilizers and undersowing on grassland cover. Joint action of undersowing and fertilization gave the best results for reparation of sparse park lawns. The maximum grassland cover was achieved by application of large quantities of seeds and fertilizers. In order to increase grassland cover in relation to a specific application of fertilizer, undersowing showed better results instead of fertilization. Application of fertilizer as an independent measure helps to increase grassland cover, however it is significantly less prevalent than the undersowing.
AB  - Istraživanje je obavljeno na parkovskom travnjaku u Banatskom Novom Selu, u području južnog Banata tokom 2012. godine. U istraživanju je proučavan uticaj đubriva i podsejavanja na pokrovnost travnjaka. Zajedničko delovanje podsejavanja i đubrenja daje najbolje rezultate pri popravci proređenih parkovskih travnjaka. Sa primenom većih količina semena i đubriva ostvarena je maksimalna pokrovnost travnjaka. Samostalna primena podsejavanja u odnosu na đubrenje daje bolje rezultate u cilju povećanja pokrovnosti u odnosu na pojedinačnu primenu đubriva. Samostalna primena đubriva pomaže povećanje pokrovnosti travnjaka, međutim u znatno manjoj meri u odnosu na podsejavanje.

AB  - This paper surveys sowing norms (row spacing and seed rate) in both our country and the world, as well as the optimal seed rates in Italian ryegrass seed production. It gives a short overview of row spacings and seed rates applied in our and some other countries. Earlier, grass cultivated for the purpose of seed production was grown on small vegetation area. According to some researches high seed yields can be achieved by cultivating grass on large vegetation area. Based on the results obtained it can be concluded that the highest Italian ryegrass seed yield in Serbian conditions was achieved with plants grown in 15-20 cm spaced rows employing 15-20 kg ha-1 of seeds.
AB  - Ovaj rad daje pregled načina setve (međurednog rastojanja i setvene norme) kako u našoj zemlji, tako i u svetu, kao i optimalne količine semena koje se mogu postići u proizvodnji semena italijanskog ljulja. Dat je i kratak pregled veličina međurednih rastojanja i količina semena za setvu u našoj zemlji i inostranstvu. Ranije se trava u cilju proizvodnje semena gajila na malim vegetacionim prostorima. Prema novijim istraživanjima, visok prinos semena se može postići gajenjem trava na velikom vegetacionom prostoru. Na osnovu postignutih rezultata može se zaključiti da se najveći prinos semena postiže u uslovima Srbije gajenjem biljaka na 20 do 40 cm međuredno i korišćenjem 15 do 20 kg ha-1 semena.

Effect of fertilization on yield of Arrhenatheretum elatioris-type meadow in hilly region

AB  - The trial was carried out during 2008-2009 years on Arrhenatheretum elatioris -type meadow in the hilly mountainous region near Valjevo (altitude 450 m). The investigation included six NPK fertilizer rates (N0P0K0, N50P50K50’ N100P50K50’ N100P100K100 ’ N150P100K100 i N200P150K150 kg ha-1yr-1). Increase in N, P, K fertilization level resulted in corresponding increases in the quantity of grass dry matter, especially, increases in N rate had a favorable effect on DM yield. Maximum average dry matter yield of 7,97 t ha-1 was achieved with the highest NPK rate (200:150:150 kg ha-1). The increase was 3,82 t ha-1 or 1,92-fold more compared with the control.
AB  - Ogled je izveden tokom jedne godine (2008 - 2009) na livadi tipa Arrhenatheretum elatioris u zapadnoj Srbiji (okolina Valjeva, nadmorska visina 450 mnv). Istraživanje je ukJjučilo 6 doza NPK đubriva - N0P0K0, N50P50K50> N100P50K50> N100P100K100: N150P100K100 i N200P150K150 kg ha-1 po godini. Povećanje količine N, P i K đubriva je vodilo u odgovarajuće povećanje prinosa suve materije krme, posebno je povećan prinos SM sa većim dozama N. Maksimalni prosečan prinos suve mase od 7,97 t ha-1 je ostvaren sa najvećom dozom NPK (N200P150K150kg ha-1 po godini) Povećanje je bilo 3,82 t ha-1 ili 1,92 puta više u poređenju sa kontrolom.

abstract = "The trial was carried out during 2008-2009 years on Arrhenatheretum elatioris -type meadow in the hilly mountainous region near Valjevo (altitude 450 m). The investigation included six NPK fertilizer rates (N0P0K0, N50P50K50’ N100P50K50’ N100P100K100 ’ N150P100K100 i N200P150K150 kg ha-1yr-1). Increase in N, P, K fertilization level resulted in corresponding increases in the quantity of grass dry matter, especially, increases in N rate had a favorable effect on DM yield. Maximum average dry matter yield of 7,97 t ha-1 was achieved with the highest NPK rate (200:150:150 kg ha-1). The increase was 3,82 t ha-1 or 1,92-fold more compared with the control., Ogled je izveden tokom jedne godine (2008 - 2009) na livadi tipa Arrhenatheretum elatioris u zapadnoj Srbiji (okolina Valjeva, nadmorska visina 450 mnv). Istraživanje je ukJjučilo 6 doza NPK đubriva - N0P0K0, N50P50K50> N100P50K50> N100P100K100: N150P100K100 i N200P150K150 kg ha-1 po godini. Povećanje količine N, P i K đubriva je vodilo u odgovarajuće povećanje prinosa suve materije krme, posebno je povećan prinos SM sa većim dozama N. Maksimalni prosečan prinos suve mase od 7,97 t ha-1 je ostvaren sa najvećom dozom NPK (N200P150K150kg ha-1 po godini) Povećanje je bilo 3,82 t ha-1 ili 1,92 puta više u poređenju sa kontrolom.",

AB  - This paper presents the results of studying the effect of different row spacing and sowing rate on birdfoot trefoil seed yield. The case study was a local variety of birdfoot trefoil "Bokor" in agroecological conditions in nortwestern Serbia (southern part Mačve) of land pseudogley in the village Bogosavac. The data were processed statistically-variation, analysis of variance, and the significance of differences determined from the LSD test. Substantially lower yields were achieved with plants sown in wider spaced rows employing lower sowing rates. The lowest average yield of 97.1 kg / ha of seed is determined at the minimum distance between rows of 12.5 cm, while the highest average yield of 155.9 kg / ha of seeds established at a distance of 25 cm. At the largest spacing of 50 cm, the average seed yield was 155.7 kg / ha. In the variant with the highest standards using a seeding 8 kg / ha appeared the highest average seed yield of 166.33 kg / ha.
AB  - U radu su prikazani rezultati proučavanja uticaja različitog načina setve i količine semena na prinos semena žutog zvezdana. Predmet istraživanja bila je domaća sorta žutog zvezdana Bokor u agroekološkim uslovima Severozapadne Srbije (Južni deo Mačve) na zemljištu tipa pseudoglej u selu Bogosavac. Dobijeni podaci su obrađeni varijaciono-statistički, analizom varijanse, a ocena značajnosti razlika utvrđena je LSD testom. Znatno niži prinosi ostvareni su kod biljaka gajenih na većem međurednom rastojanju i manjom setvenom normom. Najveći prinos semena ostvaren je kod biljaka gajenih na međurednom rastojanju 25 cm i upotrebom 8 kg/ha semena (155,9 kg/ha). Najmanji prosečan prinos 97,1 kg/ha semena, utvrđen je na najmanjem rastojanju između redova od 12,5 cm, dok je najveći prosečan prinos 155,9 kg/ha semena ustanovljen na rastojanju od 25 cm. Na najvećem međurednom rastojanju od 50 cm, prosečan prinos semena iznosio je 155,7 kg/ha. Na varijanti sa upotrebom najveće norme setve 8 kg/ha, utvrđen je najveći prosečan prinos semena 166,33 kg/ha.
