AB  - Secondary plant metabolites can express the regulatory effects on development and survival of other plant species, microorganisms or animals. In this study, we investigated the toxic and antifeedant effect of ethanol solutions of derivatives obtained from sage (the essential oil, five fractions of the same oil F1 -F5, and the camphor) against the second instar larvae and adults of Colorado potato beetle (CPB). The bioassays were performed in laboratory conditions. Toxicity of tested solutions was negligible; with exception of S. officinalis essential oil which caused low mortality of insect (29.16% dead larvae and 20.83% dead adults, respectively). Alternations in development evaluated as number in both laid eggs and hatched larvae were insignificant. Antifeedant activity of tested solutions against the CPB larvae during the first 96h was significant; although their effectiveness decreased after 4 days, the LAM was still lesser in comparing with untreated control.

AB  - To analyze variability and heritability of body measurements data of 371 performance tested Simmental bulls were used. Average test-off height at withers, circumference of chest, depth of chest, width of round, width of hip and body length were 126.00 cm, 184.76 cm, 60.90 cm, 47.63, 44.14 cm, 147.57 cm, respectively. Heritability estimates for test-off height at withers circumference of chest, depth of chest and body length were 0.43, 0.30, 0.33 and 0.29.
AB  - U cilju ispitivnja varijabilnosti i naslednosti osobina telesne razvijenosti upotrebljeni su zvanični podaci o 371 performans testiranom simentalskom biku. Analizirana baza obuhvatala je bikove testirane od 1983. do 1997. godine. Ispitivane osobine telesne razvijenosti obuhvatale su najvažnije linearne dimenzije tela (visina grebena, obim grudi, du-bina grudi, širina butova, širina kukova i dužina tela) koje su periodično merene od početka do kraja testa. Prosečne vrednosti (standardna devijacija za visinu grebena obim grudi, dubini grudi, širinu butova, širinu kukova i dužinu tola na kraju testa iznosile su: 126.00 ± 2.65 cm, 184.76 ± 5.95 cm, 60.90 ± 2.15 cm 47.63 ± 2.67 cm, 44.14 ± 1.93, 147.57 ± 4.65 cm, odgovarajuće. S obzirom da su se prilikom utvrđivanja komponenti varijansi za širinu butova i širinu kukova dobijale negativne vrednosti varijanse, koeficijenti naslednosti su izračunati za preostale četiri dimenzije tela. Heritabiliteti za najvažnije linearne dimenzije tela merene na kraju testa bill su: za visinu grebena 0.43, za obim grudi,. 0.30, za dubinu grudi 0.33, i za dužinu tela 0.29.
