AB - The experiment was conducted to determine the value of incubation eggs laid by two native breeds or strains of chicken (white naked neck and black Svrljig chicken) that are grown in rural parts of our country and to the extensive system of keeping. The collected eggs from several rural households were incubated in the experimental laboratory of Faculty of Agriculture - Belgrade, Zemun. Of hatching of deposited eggs was higher in white strain naked neck chickens and was 80.00%, and the black hen Svrljig 78.02%. The average egg weight was also a statistically significant (P lt 0.001, P lt 0.01) higher in white naked neck chickens than strain Svrljig black hens (61.27 g - 57.67 g), and scores of day-old chicks (41.13 g - 39.47 g), while the relative share of the weight saw the egg weight was higher in black Svrljig strain of 1.27 g (67.16% - 68.43%), but the difference was not statistically confirmed (P> 0.05). In both strains of laying eggs between weight and weight of chickens were found statistically significant coefficients of phenotypic correlation (P lt 0.001). Between the weight of eggs and the relative share of chicken in the egg weight yielded a negative correlation (rp = -0.204ns) with white naked neck chickens and the black Svrljig positive (rp = 0.056ns).

AB - Fattening of broiler chickens is a very specific production process characterized by intensive production principles, rapid increase in broilers, small consumption of food/kg of gain (feed conversion ratio) and a large production of broilers' meat per square meter of surface. In order to increase the profitability of this production, the intention of farmers is to reduce the duration of production as well as to increase population density, with the aim of increasing the production of broiler chickens' meat, calculated per unit of surface (m(2)). However, most of the countries in the world, in order to protect and preserve the welfare of poultry, limit the maximum of broilers' meat production by regulations and standards. These researches aim to determine the optimal density and duration of fattening in a way to achieve the best production results and the profitability of fattening the broiler chickens hybrids Cobb 500 in temperate continental climate, while preserving the welfare of poultry. From six different population densities (16.84, 16.33, 14.29, 12.75, 14.80 and 15.46 birds per m(2)) and fattening period between 37 and 40 days, the best production and economic performance showed that a group of chickens that was fattened in a period of 40 days had a population density of about 16 birds per m(2). This group of broilers produced the most meat per m(2) (about 33 kg), the welfare of poultry is maintained and the standard was not exceeded, so we can say that the best economy and profitability of fattening broiler chickens in the concerned region is achieved. In other groups of chickens, profitability could be more advantageous if the increased population density goes up to 16 birds per m(2); or the duration of fattening could be extended up to 40 days and by this way the welfare of poultry would not be violated.

AB - The aim of the research was to examine the impact duration of fattening the basic production indicators in the production of meat broilers hard line hybrid Cobb 500 The investigation included 36 round broiler chickens of both sexes who fattening in the period since 2004. until 2009. year at a private farm in the vicinity of Brčko District. Depending on the round, the shortest period of fattening lasted 34.5, 44.0 and longest days. Lengthening the duration of fattening increased the final body weight, feed conversion and mortality of broiler chickens, but decreased average daily gain and the value of production index. Namely, between the duration of fattening and production indicators tracked established a very strong, strong correlation and high correlation. The coefficient of correlation between the duration of the fattening and final body mass of broiler chickens was rp = 0.831***, conversion of food rp = 0.745***, mortality rp = 0.430**, average daily growth rp = 0.068ns and the production index rp = -0.226ns. Seen as a whole, during the fattening broiler chickens were achieved very good results in fattening up 39, 40, and 41 days. Namely, the longer fattening exacerbate the production results, and thus reduces the cost of fattening broiler chickens.

AB - During the last ten years, poultry production in the world and particularly, EU has been specific due to new trends, whereby special attention is focused on regulations and procedures that are adopted by European Union (EU), Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the World Trade Organization. Legal regulations in EU (standards, directions) are focused on all species and categories of poultry. Based on this, breeding of broiler (meat-type line strains) and production of hatching eggs and day old chickens (incubation) as well as other issues are the focus of this review. This paper presented results of studies carried out using different technological procedures in the breeding of broiler and production of one day old chickens. These showed a full expression of genetic potential of strains, along with preservation of poultry welfare.
