Simmental breed and its importance in milk production

AB  - A present state in a cattle production in our country has been analyzed in this paper, with a special emphasis being given to the state in Simmental breed, which makes, according to some estimates, about 80-85% of total cattle stock in Serbia. Cattle breeding in Serbia is characterized by an unfavorable situation, especially expressed in a negative trend in a number of cattle. This fact is extremely adverse in this period, when we need to gain the grounds for milk production quotas what seems to be the greatest problem of the EU countries as well. A production of beef meat over a last few years has been stagnating at a very low level, so that even the smallest export quotas have not been realized. As a small producer of beef meat, the most wanted product of cattle breeding, our country cannot consider itself as a serious bidder in any of the markets. Out of these reasons as a priority in agro politics of our country there is an imposed need for constant application and acknowledgment of new stimulative measures in cattle breeding with the aim of creating as greater a number of goods producers of milk and meat, especially beef meat for export, as possible. Possibilities for development of cattle breeding in Serbia do exist and are reflexed in available agricultural land, working force, farm buildings and processing capacities, as well as the experts and research workers. It is necessary to increase livestock, enlarge production, decrease a number of petty producers and engage thoroughly in organizing and directing of production for both domestic and export needs.
AB  - U radu su prikazani proizvodni rezultati populacije goveda simentalske rase u zemljama Evrope i kod nas. Ukazano je i na višedecenijski negativan trend prisutan u govedarstvu Srbije, koji se ogleda posebno preko izraženog negativnog trenda broja goveda. Ta činjenica posebno je nepovoljna u ovom periodu, kada se stiču osnove za buduće proizvodne kvote za mleko, koje su i najveći problem zemalja EU. Proizvodnja goveđeg mesa poslednjih nekoliko godina stagnira na vrlo niskom nivou. Kao mali proizvođač junećeg mesa, naša zemlja se ni na jednom tržištu ne može pojaviti kao ozbiljan ponuđač, jer ne zadovoljava istovremeno tri vrlo bitna faktora važna za proizvodnju i izvoz proizvoda, a to su kvalitet, kvantitet i kontinuitet proizvodnje. Iz tih razloga nameće se kao prioritet u agrarnoj politici naše zemlje, stalna primena i odobravanje novih podsticajnih mera u govedarstvu u cilju stvaranja što većeg broja robnih proizvođača mleka i mesa, posebno junećeg mesa namenjenog izvozu. Razvojne mogućnosti govedarstva Srbije postoje, i ogledaju se kroz raspoložive poljoprivredne površine, radnu snagu, farmske objekte i prerađivačke kapacitete, stručne i naučne radnike.

AB  - In intensive milk production particular attention is given to genetic improvement of cattle for high milk production and high quality of milk. Such trend should be followed by improvement of non genetic factors through technology and management. This is related to up to date solutions for high milk production, better cow reproduction, increase of productivity, better working conditions, better housing, efficient health protection and hygienic conditions, better technology of cow feeding, etc. It is known that two systems of cattle housing are present: free stalls and station barn with a number of modifications, among which the frequently mentioned one is semi-free stall as a combination of the two basic ones. Some variations within two systems are due to farm, climate and other differences. Based on a number of investigations, it is found that station barns have some advantage when milk yield is considered, while free stalls have preference when the reproduction of cows, productivity of labor, health protection and longevity of cows are considered.
AB  - Prema postojećim saznanjima o vezanom (tradicionalnom) i slobodnom (savremenom) sistemu držanja ne raspolaže se u dovoljnoj meri sa rezultatima na osnovu kojih bi se dobio potpuniji odgovor na određeni broj pitanja vezanih za ovu problematiku. Ovakva istraživanja karakteriše nemogućnost ujednačavanja genetskog potencijala grla, nedovoljno usaglašavanje metodologija rada, kao ni stepen primenjene tehnologije, različit nivo radne discipline, starosna struktura zapata, način ishrane i slično. Analiziranjem rezultata o prinosu mleka uočavaju se velike razlike, gde upravo iz navedenih razloga se ne mogu u potpunosti dati valjana objašnjenja. Upravo zbog toga, do sada postignute rezultate ne možemo na određeni način smatrati konačnim. Koji će se od navedena dva osnovna sistema držanja krava u konkretnim uslovima primeniti, zavisi od niza okolnosti, kao i od visine ulaganja sredstava. S obzirom na ispoljenu tendenciju povećanja broja grla u stadu i specijalizacije proizvodnje, za očekivati je da će se broj farmi sa slobodnim kretanjem krava i mužom u izmuzištu povećati, odnosno da je budućnost u govedarskoj proizvodnji na strani slobodnog sistema držanja.

AB  - The results of investigation of some non-genetic factors on fertility traits of cows in the Black Pied cattle population are presented. The cows are of European Black and White cattle which are genetically improved with Holsteins. In total, there were 319 cows with 845 calvings. The influence of calving order, year and season of calving on insemination index service period, duration of pregnancy, calving interval and weight of calves at birth were investigated. The influence of independent factors was done by Least square method (Harvey, 1987). It was estemeted by investigation that calving order had very significant effect on duration of pregnancy and the weight of calves at calving (P lt 0,01), significant on insemination index (P lt 0,05) while non-significant effects were on service period and between calvings interval (P>0,05). The expected values were estimated for duration of pregnancy and calve weight at birth at heifers (277.96 days and 36.53 kg). The year of calving had very significant effect on insemination index and weight of calves at birth (P lt 0,01), while on service period, duration of pregnancy and calvings interval influence was not significant (P>0,05). Rather different influence was of season of calving, Table 3, which was very significant on insenination index (P lt 0,01), significant on duration of pregnancy (P lt 0,05) and non-significant (P>0.05) on other investigated traits.
AB  - S obzirom da je uspeh u poboljšanju plodnosti genetskim putem dosta ograničen, to na njeno poboljšanje se uglavnom može uticati preko paragenetskih činioca. U tom cilju vršena su ispitivanja uticaja teljenja po redu, godine i sezone teljenja na indeks osemenjavanja, servis period trajanje bremenitosti, međuteldidbeni interval i masu teladi pri rođenju. Istraživanja su obuhvatila 319 krava crno-bele rase oplemenjene genima holštajna, koje su ukupno imale 845 teljenja. Za analizu delovanja pojedinih uticaja na plodnost krava korišćen je metod najmanjih kvadrata -LSMLMW (Harvej, 1987),fiksni model. Teljenje po redu je visoko značajno uticalo na trajanje bremenitosti i masu teladi pri rođenju (P lt 0,01), a značajno na indeks osemenjavanja (P lt 0,05), za razliku od dužine trajanja servis perioda i međutelidbenog intervala, gde nije ispoljena statistička značajnost (P>0,05). Godina teljenja je visoko značajno uticala na indeks osemenjavanja i masu teladi pri rođenju (P lt 0,01), dok za ostale osobine plodnosti nije utvrđena stataistička značajnost (P>0,05). Sezona teljenja je statistički visoko značajno uticala na indeks osemenjavanja (P lt 0,OJ), značajno na trajanje bremenitosti (P lt 0,05), dok njen uticaj na dužinu servis perioda i međutelidbenog intervala, kao i mase teladi pri rođenju nije bio statistički značajan (P>0,05).

AB  - The analysis of visually assessed and measured body conformation traits were based on the sample of 935 first calving black and white were daughters from 59 bull-sires. Proportion of Hoistein genes in the genotype of bulls and cows was 80 and 60 percentage approximately. Milk production was realized during period of six years on ten farms of agriculture combine from Belgrade. Results are processed by method of least squares (HARVEY, 1990). Linearly scored traits were about average using the scale from 1 to 9. Measured traits have shown expected values which represent investigated population. Phenotypic correlations were weak and strong with positive and negative coefficient in both group of traits. AH differences between bull-sires were statistically high significant (P lt 0,03), including all presented traits.
AB  - Analizom rezultata vizuelno procenjenih i merenih osobina telesne razvijenost obuhvaćeno je 935 prvotelki crno belih goveda koje su vodile poreklo od 59 bikova – očeva. Proporcija gena holštajna u genotipu bikova je prosečno iznosila oko 80% a krava ok 60%. Proizvodnja mleka je ostvarena u periodu od šest godina na 10 farmi PK "Beograd". Za obradu rezultata korišćen je model oca po metodi najmanjih kvadrata. Srednje vrednosti ocenjenih osobina su bile u rasponu od 5-6 što predstavlja prosečnu ispoljenost sa niskom varijabilnošću (CV - 16,5% za vezanost prednjeg vimena). Srednje vrednosti i varijabilnost merenih osobina bili su u granicama koje karakterišu genotipove crno-belih krava u ispitivanoj populaciji. Fenotipska povezanost između osobina se kretala od jako slabe do potpune sa manjim brojem negativnih koeficijenata. Rezultati analize varijanse su pokazali visoko značajne razlike (P lt 0,01) između bikova za sve navedene osobine.

AB  - Molecular genetics made available genetic markers as a powerful tool for genetic improvement of animal selection and production. Genetic markers are used to estimate the association with economically important trait loci. Traits of economic interest include milk protein genetic variants, milk production, disease and stress resistance etc.
AB  - U poslednjim decenijama dvadesetog veka, primenom metoda molekularne genetike omogućena je identifikacija gena koji utiču na variranje kvantitativnih osobina, kao i selekcija vezana za markere (MAS) koja se koristi za mapiranje genoma i procenu vezanosti gena koji utiču na ekonomski važne osobine domaćih životinja. Ovim metodama omogućeno je da se otkriju i potvrde genetske varijante proteina mleka, utvrdi otpornost organizma na bolesti i stres, odredi kvalitet mesa, izvrši determinacija pedigrea i pola utvrdi biodiverzitet i filogenetski stadijum organizma i dr. Primenom DNK testova metodom lančanog umnožavanja DNK (PCR) i PCRRFLP metodom koja se zasniva na polimorfizmu restrikcionih fragmenata u mogućnosti smo da identifikujemo varijante gena koji su odgovorni za varijabilnost kvantitativnih i drugih osobina koje želimo da unapredimo selekcijom. Selekciju, koja se bazira na ovim metodama, neophodno je uključiti u već tradicionalne odgajivačke programe kako bi se efekat selekcije i ekonomska vrednost stočarske proizvodnje povećala.

AB  - Recombinant DNA technology enabled the successful transfer of beneficial genes between animals, thus creating genetically modified animals. The basic motive for creating genetically modified animals was a new, more efficient way of exploiting their production potentials. Although cloning and transgenic technology incorporate all known techniques of micromanipulating genes and embryos known to date, they represent only a continuation of research in this field. Special practical results from genetically modified organisms are achieved by therapeutic cloning and work to preserve endangered animal species. The creation of genetically modified animals, and especially the birth of the first mammal obtained by cloning, the sheep Dolly, has shifted the frontiers of science in general and set the strategy for future projects in this field.
AB  - Primenom tehnologije rekombinantne DNK omogućeno je uspešno prenošenje pozeljnih gena sa jedne životinje na drugu i na taj način su dobijene genetički modifikovani životinjski organizmi. Osnovni motiv stvaranja genetički modifikovanih životinja je nov, efikasniji način iskorišćavanja njihovih proizvodnih mogućnosti. Tehnika kloniranja i transgeneze životinja uključuje sve do sada poznate tehnike mikromanipulacija sa genima i embrionima i one predstavljaju samo nastavak istraživanja u ovoj oblasti. Poseban praktični doprinos genetički modifikovanih organizama ima terapeutsko kloniranje i rad na očuvanju ugroženih životinjskih vrsta. Dobijanje genetički modifikovanih životinja a posebno rođenje prvog kloniranog sisara ovce Doli pomerilo je granice sveukupne nauke i opredelilo strategiju budućih projekata u ovoj oblasti.

AB  - The selection base is in the end reduced to selecting the best male and female and their matting in order to develop a progeny superior to parents for selected traits. Applied methods for the production improvement depend on genetic variability and relationships of traits under improvement. The heritability is not a constant and absolute value. It is a probability or prediction, depending on the same factors as a phenotype. Due to this, it is very important to estimate heritability for each herd-population. At the same time, it is very important to optimize production conditions so as to ensure a better expression of genetic variability.
AB  - Osnov selekcijskog rada predstavlja odabir najboljih jedinki i njihovo međusobno parenje, kako bi se dobilo potomstvo superiornije, u pogledu selekcionisanih osobina, u odnosu na roditelje. Koje ćemo metode i postupke, tom prilikom, primeniti u najvećoj meri zavisi od naslednosti i genetičke povezanosti osobina koje želimo unaprediti. Heritabilnost nije konstanta, niti apsolutna, već je to verovatnoća, tj. prognoza i zavisi od svih onih faktora od kojih zavisi i fenotipska ispoljenost osobina. Zbog svega toga, neophodno je da se u odabiru metoda i postupaka selekcije i ocene priplodne vrednosti životinja on procenjuje za svaku populaciju-zapat. Istovremeno veoma je važno optimalizovati uslove proizvodnje, kako bi se genetička varijabilnost što bolje ispoljila.

AB  - The introduction of Holstein-Friesian genes into European Black Pied cattle populations is important for the milk production improvement. new genotypes, with significantly higher milk and fat yield and some reduction of fat percent, were developed by this breeding method. Apart from higher additive gene effects this is partly due to effects of heterosis. The percent of Holstein genes significantly (P lt 0.01) influenced milk, fat and FCM yields in these investigations. The service period length and age of heifers at calving highly significantly affected milk fat and FCM yields. Milk production was higher in lactation with increased service period and age, but with the numbers of calves and lactations in life time of cows has been reduced. Based on the results obtained it could be concluded that the use of Holsteins in the genetic improvement of European Black Pied breeds and populations is satisfactory providing good management conditions.
AB  - Ispitivanjem uticaja HF gena na određene osobine mlečnosti i plodnosti crno-belih krava utvrđen je statistički visoko značajan uticaj na prinos mleka, prinos mlečne masti i 4% MKM (P lt 0,01), dok je sadržaj mlečne masti bio nešto niži. Različita zastupljenost HF gena u genotipu krava nije statistički značajno uticala ni na jednu od ispitivanih osobina plodnosti (P>0,05), a što je ispoljeno kroz niske vrednosti koeficijenta regresije. Servis period je statistički visoko značajno (P lt 0,01) uticao na sve ispitivane osobine mlečnosti, osim na sadržaj mlečne masti u mleku. Nije ispoljen statistički značajan uticaj (P>0,05) uzrasta pri telenju na trajanje laktacije i sadržaj mlečne masti, za razliku od prinosa mlečne (P lt 0,01). .

abstract = "The introduction of Holstein-Friesian genes into European Black Pied cattle populations is important for the milk production improvement. new genotypes, with significantly higher milk and fat yield and some reduction of fat percent, were developed by this breeding method. Apart from higher additive gene effects this is partly due to effects of heterosis. The percent of Holstein genes significantly (P lt 0.01) influenced milk, fat and FCM yields in these investigations. The service period length and age of heifers at calving highly significantly affected milk fat and FCM yields. Milk production was higher in lactation with increased service period and age, but with the numbers of calves and lactations in life time of cows has been reduced. Based on the results obtained it could be concluded that the use of Holsteins in the genetic improvement of European Black Pied breeds and populations is satisfactory providing good management conditions., Ispitivanjem uticaja HF gena na određene osobine mlečnosti i plodnosti crno-belih krava utvrđen je statistički visoko značajan uticaj na prinos mleka, prinos mlečne masti i 4% MKM (P lt 0,01), dok je sadržaj mlečne masti bio nešto niži. Različita zastupljenost HF gena u genotipu krava nije statistički značajno uticala ni na jednu od ispitivanih osobina plodnosti (P>0,05), a što je ispoljeno kroz niske vrednosti koeficijenta regresije. Servis period je statistički visoko značajno (P lt 0,01) uticao na sve ispitivane osobine mlečnosti, osim na sadržaj mlečne masti u mleku. Nije ispoljen statistički značajan uticaj (P>0,05) uzrasta pri telenju na trajanje laktacije i sadržaj mlečne masti, za razliku od prinosa mlečne (P lt 0,01). .",
