AB - Potato tuber moth, Phthorimaea operculella Zeller (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae), is a damaging pest occurring in warm, tropical and subtropical regions. In the last several years, it has also been present in Serbia, causing serious damage to potatoes. Its harmfulness involves damage to potato tubers which renders them useless for marketing, leading to complete yield loss. This pest is also important in terms of the complexity of its control.
In Serbia, until five years ago, this pest was known only through literature. The first official data on its presence in Serbia i.e. in the Leskovac region date back to 2011. The potato tuber moth was first recorded in 2008 (Leskovac), and its presence in other areas of Serbia was first reported in 2011.
During 2015, extensive damage from this insect was recorded on the potato crop in Čačak, particularly in the lowlands, where potatoes are intensively grown for high yields, as well as in other parts of the country.
This pest requires complex control practices. It is only through the use of both preventive and direct control measures by all potato growers on a large scale that success in pest control and damage reduction can be expected.
AB - Krompirov moljac, Phthorimaea operculella Zeller (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae), je štetočina toplih, tropskih i subtropskih regiona sveta.

AB - Pre-basic seed potato material is used for basic seed (elite) and certified seed potato production. At this moment all basic seed material is imported into Republic of Serbia and Republic of Srpska, despite the fact that the method of in vitro tissue culture production of virus-free seed potato has been developed in both countries and there is a continuous demand for pre-basic and basic seed potato. Current total production is significantly lower than actual requirements. In the 80s and 90s of the previous century two modern facilities for production of virus-free seed potato and certified seed were built in Sokolac (Republic of Srpska) and Guča (Republic of Serbia). Although facilities were well-equipped, seed potato production was permanently ceased in 2000. The presence of high infection pressure dominated by potato virus Y is shown in the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Srpska. This paper gives an overview of pre-basic seed potato material production in both countries over the last two decades.

AB - Modern agriculture requires the use of modern technology, with new technical and technological solutions. Basic agro-technical operation in phase of establishing orchards and vineyards that requires large amounts of energy is plowing, for its specificity called rigoling. Trenching phase consumes greatest portion of energy in the processing and preparation of land in general and especially for the establishment of cultural agricultural fruit-grape production. There are more operational technologies, and this paper analyses classical technology, and combined technology using rigoler and plowing tools for soil cultivation. When classic technologies are applied, soil is cut and sectioned, moved and crushed, thus creating loose soil layer. The depth of processed soil is different for different fruit- grape crops, depending on the needs of the root system, as penetration depth and the breadth of development, ranging between 60 and 100 cm. Such technology moves active soil layer to the inactive bottom of the furrow, while inactive soil layer is removed to the surface. This technology has to be defined for different soil types. Combined technical-technological solution using a rigoler with built-in plow enables the achievement of working depth required by the root system, but the inactive soil layer is not moved to the surface of the plowed soil. The lower topsoil layer is only shaken and broken. Work technology combining rigoler and plow in one pass, can significantly increase technological production, while saving significant amounts of energy. This technology should be applied to avoid unnecessary expenditure of energy. .

AB - In this article the actual and economically important diseases, insect pests and integrated pest management (IPM) of fruit and grapes in Serbia were discussed. Different pest management measures were suggested, as well. In the pome fruits group the resistance of Ventura inaequalis to fungicides and fire blight were pointed as an actual problem. In stone fruits production it was stressed that the Plum pox virus (PPV) is still the biggest problem in Serbia. In the field of insect pests it was pointed out that apple codling moth resistance is emerging. Phytophthora root rot, which was the biggest problem in small fruit production in the last decade, was successfully controlled by production and planting healthy raspberry plants. In grapevine production the biggest problem emerged with Bois Noir phytoplasmas appearance. By taking preventive control measure the disease is under control. But, the ESCA complex diseases are getting more important. These diseases in Serbian grapes production need more attention.

AB - This paper presents the state of raspberries growing in Serbia and its perspectives. With annual production of over 60 000 tons Serbia holds significant place in the global production of this kind. Unfortunately, almost the entire quantity is frozen and exported as semi-finished product, and a very small part of it in higher levels of processing or fresh. Thereby the economic effect of this production is significantly decreased. One cultivar prevails in the entire assortment (Willamette), and a significantly better cultivar Meeker is slowly introduced in the production. There are only several hectares of primocane fruiting raspberry cultivars. Growing technology is conventional and two wire vertical trellis system of growing prevails. Insufficiently built road network and distance of plantings from the cold storage have impact on the quality of fruits, and the percentage of first class fruits is around 30 to 35%. Lack of producer organizations and non-loyal competition among purchasers contribute to fluctuating prices, which leads to difficulties in export of raspberries from Serbia and this production very often makes it unprofitable. Expensive production due to expensive workforce and input components also contributes to this. The solution is to increased the offer of fresh raspberries as well as raspberries of higher degree of finalization process: dried, concentrates, etc. A significantly better organization of production and a better presentation of the products in the market with recognizable trademark are also necessary.

AB - The study results of new economically important causal agents of diseases and fruit pests were presented. Over 20 types of Erwinia amylovora have been isolated and identified on pome fruits. The most frequent peach, apricot, and plum diseases are the following: brown fruit rot, drying of small branches and canker. The importance of virus free planting material and resistant cultivars was emphasized. Using the nested PCR and PCR-RFLP methods showed the presence of Phytophthora fragarie var. rubi on three raspberry cultivars. Cecidial raspberry drying is one of the most economically harmful disease. Bacterial raspberry blight was described for the first time in Serbia. Acarology studies are directed towards the following: mechanisms of plant resistance, resistance of mites towards acaricides, efficacy of biopesticides and development of molecular methods for the faster identification of species. The increase in the population of Lymatria dispar, Cacopsylla pruni and Carcopidae was assessed in orchards.
AB - Prikazani su rezultati istraživanja novih bolesti i štetočina voćaka sa posebnim osvrtom na: molekularnu detekciju patogena, Pseudomonas syringae na koštičavom voću, sojeve Erwinia amylovora na jabučastim voćkama, prouzrokovače mrke truleži (Monilinia spp.) i rak rana (Leucostoma spp.) na koštičavim vrstama voćaka, molekularne metode za utvrđivanje prisustva Phytophthora fragariae var. rubi na malini, cecidoizno sušenje maline, prouzrokovača bakteriozne plamenjače maline (Pseudomonas syringae pv. syringae), akarološka istraživanja, kao i na porast brojnosti Lymantria dispar, Cacopsylla pruni i cikada penuša (Cercopidae), zaštitu voćaka u organskoj proizvodnji.
