AB - The aim of this study was to examine the influence of shoot age on the biological and chemical properties of 13 black currant cultivars with different origins and ripening times. Pheno-logical observations together with examined pomological and chemical characteristics were studied in two consecutive years at the experimental field near Belgrade, Serbia. The total content of phenols was estimated spectrophotometrically by the Folin-Ciocalteu method, while quantitative analysis of anthocyanin and flavonols aglycones was performed using a high-performance liquid chromato-graphic (HPLC) method. Principal component analysis was performed to establish differences in biological and chemical properties of black currants. Three-year-old shoots had an earlier start of all examined phenological stages, better generative potential, higher yields, while clusters and berries from 2-year-old shoots had significantly higher values for physical properties, total phenols, anthocyanin and flavanols aglycones and antiradical capacity. Late ripening cultivars had higher contents of all chemical compounds. The berries on 2-year-old shoots had total phenolics that ranged between 123.0 (‘Titania’) and 298.3 mg/100 g fresh weight (FW) (‘Ometa’), while total antho-cyanins ranged between 398.5 (’Ojebyn’) and 1160.8 mg/kg FW (’Ometa’). According to the obtained results, cultivars ‘Ometa’, ‘Ben Lomond’, ‘Tsema’ and ‘Malling Juel’ can be recommended as the most promising for growing in the continental climate because they stood out with higher generative potential and yield, physical traits of cluster and berry, higher level of primary and secondary metabolites and DPPH activity in their berries.

AB - A common problem of all fruit producers is establishing the optimal irrigation
schedule (irrigation interval and amount of water) which would provide a highquality yield with efficient use of water, preservation of soils and the environment.
In this study, Seasonal Irrigation Water Requirement (SIWR) was calculated from
the difference between the crop evapotranspiration (ETc) and effective rainfall (Pe)
for the fruit crops in the 13 districts of Central (CS), West (WS), and South Serbia
(SS). Analysed fruit production averaging around 9.8% of total arable land area.
Depending on the crop water requirements and grass cover (GC) fruits were
separated into seven groups: apples, pears, plums, walnuts and hazels without GC (I)
and with GC (II); apricots, peaches, nectarines without GC (III) and with GC (IV);
sweet cherries, sour cherries without GC (V) and with GC (VI) and raspberries,
blackberries, blueberries (VII). Reference evapotranspiration (ETo), Pe, ETc, and
SIWR were calculated based on FAO-56 methodolgy using daily meteorological
data (mean, maximum and minimum temperature ,extra-terrestrial radiation and
rainfall) for the period 2000-2019 obtained from 13 meteorological stations. The
average SIWR amounts to 349, 541, 153, 272, 123, 220, and 207 mm for all the
seven groups; I, II, III, IV, V, VI, and VII, respectively. Spatially SIWR values
ranged from 232.8, 366.5, 428.2 mm for WS, CS, and SS districts respectively.
Depending on whether the orchard is grass-covered or not ETo changes significantly.
Crop evapotranspiration is 26% higher in the GC orchards compared to the orchards
without GC. Great differences in SIWR going from Western to Eastern parts of
Serbia indicate that for good irrigation practices and efficient irrigation system
design, it is necessary to adopt SIWR calculated on a district scale or even farm scale.
Obtained results indicate that besides SIWR, selecting the proper agronomy practices
and growing systems has a significant impact on obtaining high-quality yields while
saving water and preserve soils.

AB - This paper presents the results of the two-year (2015-2016) research of changes in fruit quality of quince fruits during cold storage. The investigations were conducted in eight quince cultivars: ‘Vranjska’, ‘Leskovacka’, ‘Morava’, ‘Pazardzijska’, ‘Hemus’, ‘Asenica’, ‘Portugal’ and ‘Triumph’. The fruits of the quince were kept in cold storage with normal atmosphere for five months, from October 20 to March 20, in temperature 0-2°C and air humidity 80%. After this period, changes in fruit quality were determined. The highest fruit weight loss was found in the cultivar ‘Pazardzijska’ (16.33%), and the lowest in ‘Asenica’ and ‘Morava’ (6.66 and 7.98%, respectively). Also, in ‘Pazardzijska’, the biggest soluble solids content (SSC) decrease (14.70%) was determined, while the smallest SSC decrease was determined in ‘Leskovacka’, ‘Morava’ and ‘Portugal’ (below 4%). The total acid content decrease varied from 33.05% in ‘Leskovacka’ to 63.75% in ‘Pazardzijska’. The losses in fruit firmness were smallest in ‘Pazardzijska’, and the largest in ‘Portugal’. The occurrence of flesh browning was lowest in ‘Asenica’ and ‘Hemus’, and largest in ‘Pazardzijska’. Of the investigated quince cultivars, the best results during the cold storage were determined in ‘Leskovacka’, ‘Morava’ and ‘Asenica’, and the worst in ‘Pazardzijska’.

AB - Pruning is the most important pomotechnical measure in intensive sweet cherry cultivation, that significantly affects fruit quality. The objective of this study was to examine the influence of pruning intensity on biological characteristics of sweet cherry trees. The experimental orchard was situated on the Fruška Gora mountain, near Novi Sad, in the north of Serbia. Three sweet cherry cultivars were examined: ‘Burlat’, ‘Carmen’ and ‘Summit’. All cultivars were grafted on ‘Oblačinska’ sour cherry rootstock. Experimental orchard was established in 2012 with planting distance 3.85×2.5 m. During a two-year period (2017-2018) the following characteristics were studied: time of flowering and ripening, trunk diameter, number of spurs tree-1, fruit weight and yield. Pruning was applied in September with two intensities: intensive pruning (IP) and moderate pruning (MP). After pruning, number of spurs tree-1 was counted and calculated in relation to trunk cross-sectional area (TCSA). Number of spurs cm-2 of TCSA in IP variant was in the range of 2.03-2.18, and in MP variant it ranged 3.16-3.45. The results indicate significant effect of pruning intensity on fruit weight. Average fruit weight on IP trees in all three cultivars was significantly higher than on MP trees. Yield was also under influence of pruning intensity, and IP mostly leads to yield decreasing.

AB - Characteristics of growth and cropping (trunk cross-sectional area, yield per tree, yield efficiency, biennial bearing index, and fruit weight) were studied in 25 late-season plum cultivars in the Belgrade area during the eight-year period (2012-2019). The cultivar 'Stanley' was used as a control for comparison. The period of study was divided into initial bearing (age of trees: four and five years) and full bearing (age of trees: between six and eleven years). Significant differences in yield among cultivars were found in both initial and full bearing periods. The average yield per tree in the period of initial bearing ranged from 1.6 kg in 'Pozna Plava' to 10.9 kg in 'Topper', and from 12.3 kg in 'Pozna Plava' to 26.1 kg in 'Mildora' in the period of full bearing. Compared with the control cultivar, significantly lower yields in the full bearing period were obtained in eight cultivars, while higher vigour, expressed as trunk cross-sectional area (TCSA), was found in ten cultivars. Cumulative yield efficiency varied between 0.46 kg/cm2 in 'Požegača' and 1.90 kg/cm2 in 'Topper'. Biennial bearing index was the lowest (0.06) in 'Nada', and the highest (0.90) in 'Tophit'. Fruit weight ranged from 17.9 g in 'Požegača' to 57.0 g in 'Empress'. Compared with the control, fruit weight was significantly higher in seven cultivars, and significantly lower in nine cultivars. On the basis of high yields and large fruit size, the cultivars 'Bluefre', 'Empress', 'Jojo', 'Nada', 'President' and 'Tophit' can be recommended for growing in the Belgrade region.

AB - Considering the already observed trends of increasing air temperatures, changes in precipitation regimes, and extension of the growing season, as well as predictions that climate conditions in Serbia will deteriorate and the risks to farming will increase, the objective of this research is to assess the vulnerability of agriculture in Serbia to climate change, based on farmers' perceptions. A team of experts in all areas of agriculture and soil and water management compiled a questionnaire for a semi-open online survey. The snowball sampling approach was followed, relying on personal contacts and social media. In total, 141 farmers responded to the questionnaire. The data were evaluated using descriptive statistics. The differences by region, activity and topography were tested by ANOVA and Student's t-test. The feedback was used to assess the damages sustained by farmers due to climate change and reduced revenues in their respective areas of agricultural activity. Certain positive effects of climate change were also identified. A need for training in climate change impact mitigation is noted. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics. The surveyed farmers believe that the most important effects of climate change were periods of extreme high temperature, droughts, late spring frost, and hail. Climate change seems to be reducing yields, facilitating the appearance of new diseases and pests, and causing a lower tolerance to existing diseases and pests. Farmers expressed considerable interest in climate change impact adaptation and mitigation training.

AB - Phenological characteristics and yield potential in eight promising peach hybrids from selection based on fruit quality were studied in this paper. The hybrids flowered from late March to mid-April, and fruit ripened from late August to late September. The FS3, FS4, and FS7 hybrids had the highest density of flower buds. The initial fruit set was quite high (73.9%) and the final fruit set was much lower (32.2%). Fruit weight ranged from 129.8 g (FS4 hybrid) to 178.1 g (FS7 hybrid). The FS3 and FS7 hybrids had the highest yield per 1 m of shoot length (3.5 kg), and the FS2 hybrid had the highest yield per tree (25.3 kg) and the highest yield efficiency (0.30 kg cm-2). The FS2, FS3, and FS7 hybrids stood out based on yield potential. They are good candidates for release as new high-yielding peach cultivars or for use in further breeding efforts.

AB - Assessment of chilling requirements for breaking dormancy (CR) and heat requirements for flowering (HR) in fruit trees is important for selecting cultivars suitable for the climatic conditions of the site. The objective of this study was to estimate CR and HR in six almond cultivars grown in the Belgrade region. The study was conducted during a three-year period. The CR was quantified using the Utah chill unit model (CU). The date of completion of CR was determined according to the weight increase and phenological transition of forced flower buds in controlled conditions. The HR was determined as growing degree hours (GDH) accumulated from the breaking of dormancy to the beginning of flowering using a base temperature of 4°C. The CR ranged from 690 CU in 'Exinograd' to 1285 CU in 'Mari de Stepa'. The HR varied between 3838 GDH in 'Ferragnes' and 4539 GDH in 'Mari de Stepa'. The earlier-flowering cultivars were those with the lowest CR. The latest flowering cultivar 'Mari de Stepa' (April 11) finished dormancy on average 51 days after the earliest flowering cultivar 'Exinograd' (March 29).

AB - The phenology of flowering was studied in 50 apricot cultivars in the Belgrade region over a period of eight years (2009-2016). Within the flowering phenophase, three sub-phases were registered: the beginning of flowering, full flowering and the end of flowering. In addition, the duration and abundance of flowering were examined. The average date of the beginning of flowering for all cultivars was March 22, of full flowering - March 25, and of the end of flowering - April 1. The average duration of flowering was 9.7 days, with a range among cultivars between 7.5 days ('Gergana') and 12 days ('Ninfa' and 'Radka'). The lowest average score (3.0) for flowering intensity was obtained in 'Hungarian Best' cultivar, and the highest score (4.6) in 'Harcot' and 'Leskora' cultivars. In years with higher temperatures during the flowering, a smaller range in flowering time among cultivars was recorded, as well as shorter duration of flowering. Based on the beginning of flowering, the tested cultivars were classified into three groups: early-flowering (14 cultivars), medium-flowering (21 cultivars) and late-flowering (15 cultivars). Meteorological factors (air temperature) had a greater influence on the course and duration of the flowering phenophase than the genetic traits of the cultivars.

AB - The focus of our research was to evaluate different apples cultivars in terms of their biological properties and bioactive compounds content, and determine the levels of their resistance (or susceptibility) to fire blight. The properties of 10 scab-resistant apple cultivars were examined on the Zica monastery estate (West Serbia) during the period from 2011 to 2015. The biological and chemical properties such as firmness, maturity stage, total soluble solids, total acids, total and reducing sugars, ascorbic acid content and surface blush of apple fruits were monitored. Various phenolic compounds in the tested samples were tentatively identified by LC-MS analyses. A study of generative properties included: number of flowerbuds, fruit mass and width, crop load, yield efficiency and yield. During the period of blooming and intensive shoot growth, artificial inoculations were carried out. For each cultivar, a fire blight score was determined by dividing the average length of necrotic tissue by the average total shoot length. In the study period, the cultivars 'CroldRush' (41.1 t ha(-1)) and 'Florina' (35.9 t ha(-1)) produced the highest yields, and the cultivars 'Discovery' (19.0 t ha(-1)) and Selection 25/63 (15.1 t ha(-1)) the lowest. The cultivar 'William's Pride' produced the largest fruits, with an average fruit mass of 206.8 g. The earliest harvest period was recorded for the cultivar 'Discovery' (end of July), and the latest for the cultivar 'CroldRush' (beginning of October). The cultivar 'Enterprise' had the highest value of total phenols (432.2 mg 100 g(-1) FW), while the cultivar 'Topaz' had the highest value of total flavanols (145.2 mg 100 g(-1) FW). The highest degree of susceptibility to fire blight was found in Selection 25/63, and the greatest resistance was manifested by the cultivar 'CroldRush'. In the five-year study period, the cultivars 'GoldRush', 'Rewena' and 'Enterprise' exhibited better bio-chemical properties and higher levels of resistance to fire blight than the remaining cultivars.

AB - The evaluation of 15 diploid plum cultivars (mostly Prunus cerasifera hybrids) originating from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, and Bulgaria was carried out in the region of Belgrade over a period of four years (2011-2014). The time of flowering of studied cultivars was early, at the end of March and the first decade of April. Most cultivars are characterized by the early time of maturation (the last week of June or the first week of July). With the exception of the ‘Crvena Afska’, all other cultivars had high productivity (scores 4.0-4.8 on a 0-5 scale). Fruit weight ranged from 18.9 g in ‘Kolonovidnaja’ to 40.3 g in ‘Sonejka’. Stones were relatively small (0.74-1.47 g), and their share in the total fruit weight was 2.2-5.1%. The content of soluble solids ranged from 10.5-19.5%, while the content of titratable acids varied from 0.84-2.17%. Most of the studied cultivars are suitable for fruit processing, especially ‘Krimska Zholtaya’, ‘Soneyka’, and ‘Mara’. Some cultivars, such as ‘Dezertnaya’, ‘Obilnaya’, ‘Lama’, and ‘Naidyona’ can also be used for fresh consumption.

AB - Phenological characteristics, yield and fruit quality of 14 medium-late ripening plum cultivars, were studied in the region of Belgrade during the five-year period (2013-2017). The control cultivar for comparison was 'Čačanska rodna'. Flowering of tested cultivars occurred in the first half of April, and fruit maturation was in the first half of August. The average yield per tree was the lowest in the 'Nevena' cultivar (1.6 kg), and the highest in the 'Mildora' cultivar (22.5 kg). Compared to the control cultivar, significantly lower yield was achieved in seven cultivars. The lowest vigor was determined in the standard cultivar ('Čačanska rodna'), and the highest in the 'Milka' cultivar. The average fruit weight ranged from 19.5 g in the 'Nevena' cultivar to 50.5 g in the 'Valor' cultivar. Compared to the control, fruit weight was statistically significantly higher in five cultivars. In all studied cultivars, the high soluble solids content (over 17%) was found, while in cultivars 'Mildora' and 'Valor' it was significantly higher than in the control. On the basis of the obtained results, as regards cultivation in the region of Belgrade, it is possible to recommend the following cultivars: 'Valor' and 'Čačanska najbolja' as predominantly table cultivars (for fresh consumption), 'Jojo' and 'Vengerka krupna slatka' as cultivars of combined characteristics and 'Mildora' as a cultivar for processing.

AB - 'Ruza' is a new apricot cultivar released by the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Belgrade. It originated as a spontaneous seedling and was introduced in 2014. Evaluation of this cultivar was done in comparison with the control cultivar 'Hungarian Best' over a 3-year period ( 2012-2014). It flowers late in the season, about 1 day after the control cultivar. It is self-compatible. The maturing time is the first decade of July, about 4 days after 'Hungarian Best'. Productivity is good, 34% higher than in the control cultivar. The fruit is ovate and large ( 67 g). The ground colour is deep orange, covered with a bright, solid red blush on the sunny side. The flesh is orange in colour, very firm and juicy. It is characterized by a high content of soluble solids ( 16.3%), a sweet-acidic, harmonic taste and a very strong aroma. The stone is relatively small, making up 4.8% of the fruit weight. It is easily separated from the flesh. The kernel has a sweet taste. Fruits can be kept for longer than a month in cold storage. They are suitable for both fresh consumption and processing. Thanks to its good productive characteristics, this cultivar can be recommended for commercial production in the Belgrade area and other regions with similar ecological conditions.

AB - Chilling requirements for breaking dormancy and heat requirements for flowering were studied in 10 apricot cultivars in the region of Belgrade during a 2-year period. Chilling requirements were determined using the Utah chill unit (CU) model. To determine the date of dormancy breaking, 1-year-old shoots were collected weekly from December to February and kept under controlled conditions. Heat requirements were calculated as growing degree hours (GDH) accumulated from the breaking of dormancy to the beginning of flowering using a base temperature of 4 degrees C. The cultivars studied showed a range of chilling requirements, from 834 CU in 'Ninfa' and 'Goldrich' to 1442 CU in 'Re Umberto'. The heat requirements for flowering ranged between 2624 GDH in 'Magyar kajszi' and 3469 GDH in 'Tomcot'. The latest flowering cultivar ('Re Umberto') finished dormancy 42 days after the earliest flowering cultivar ('Ninfa'). The results indicate that flowering time of apricot in the studied region is influenced more by chilling requirements than by heat requirements. Identification and selection of cultivars with higher chilling requirements and later flowering is important for apricot production, especially in regions with the frequent occurrence of late spring frosts.

AB - In Serbia, in the majority of sweet cherry orchards, vigorous rootstocks (Mazzard and Mahaleb seedlings and clonal rootstock ‘Colt’) are used. Cherry trees grafted on these rootstocks are characterized by vigorous growth and the subsequent late coming into bearing. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of the combined use of two bioregulators: Prohexadione-calcium and Ethephon on vigor of sweet cherry cultivars. Studies were carried out in a cherry orchard in Grocka (near the Belgrade) on five cultivars: ‘Bigarreau Hatif Burlat’, ‘Sunburst’, ‘Carmen’, ‘Kordia’ and ‘Regina’ grafted on the rootstock ‘Colt’. There were two treatments with Prohexadione-calcium (250 mg/l) and Ethephon (175 mg/l). The first treatment was done when the shoots were 8-10 cm long, and the second one three weeks later. At the end of the growing season were conducted measurements of the following parameters: length of shoots, diameter of shoots, number of nodes per shoot, leaf area, and the number of spurs per tree. All parameters of vigor had less values on the trees treated with bioregulators. Length of the terminal shoots on treated trees was lower by 24-35% comparing to control. In addition, bioregulators influenced significant increase in the number of spurs (by 12-74%) in all tested cultivars, except for the cultivar ‘Burlat’.

AB - This experiment was designed to investigate effects of chemical thinning on fruit set, yield, return bloom and fruit quality of apple cultivars ‘Golden Reinders’, ’Gala Royal Beaut’, ’Red Cap Deliciou’' and ’Red Jonaprince’ in 2014. The orchard was established in spring 2013 with high-quality 2-year-old nursery trees that contained 7 or more lateral branches (except the cultivar ’Red Cap Delicious’). For chemical thinning the following chemicals were used: auxine naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA), cytokinin 6-benzyladenine (BA), insecticide carbaryl (‘Sevin’) and photosynthesis inhibitor metamitron (‘Brevis’) and their mix combinations. The most intensive fruit thinning for all cultivars were obtained in treatments with metamitron used either alone or in combination with NAA, and in the combination BA + NAA. Due to the decrease in the number of fruits per tree, in these treatments was recorded the largest increase in fruit weight compared with the control. Application of bioregulators in two-year old orchard depending on the cultivar had a greater or lesser effect on apple bloom in the next spring. Effect of chemical thinning on flowering in the next spring was not significant in cultivars ‘Royal Gala Beaut’ and ‘Red Jonaprince’. In the cultivar ‘Golden Reinders’ number of fruits over 6 per cm2 of trunk cross-sectional area (TCSA) resulted in absence of flowers, while in the cultivar Red Cap that number was 3 per cm2 of TCSA.

AB - Characteristics of productivity and growth (yield per tree, trunk cross- sectional area, yield efficiency and fruit weight) were studied in 30 apricot cultivars of medium late and late maturity in the Belgrade area during the six-year period (2009-2014). The cultivar 'Hungarian Best' was used as a control for comparison. The period of study was divided into initial bearing (trees aged three to four years) and full bearing (trees aged five to eight years). Significant differences in yield between cultivars and years were found. An average yield in the period of initial bearing ranged from 0.6 to 6.4 kg per tree, and in the period of full bearing from 4.5 to 18.4 kg per tree. Compared to the control cultivar, significantly higher yield was obtained in 11 cultivars. Adverse weather conditions resulted in a significant reduction in yield in two out of six years of study. Cumulative yield efficiency varied from 0.10 to 0.85 kg/cm2 and in 13 cultivars it was significantly higher compared to the control cultivar. Fruit weight ranged from 26.6 to 81.1 g. Compared to the control, fruit weight was significantly higher in nine cultivars, and significantly lower in ten cultivars. On the basis of high yield and large fruit size, introduced cultivars 'Roxana', 'Mary de Cenad' and 'Silvercot' as well as domestic cultivars 'Novosadska Rodna', 'NS-4' and 'NS-6' can be recommended for growing in the Belgrade area.

AB - Growth and productivity characteristics including: initial and final fruit set, yield per tree, trunk cross-sectional area, yield efficiency and fruit weight were studied in ten cultivars of Japanese plums in the Belgrade area for the period of three years (2013-2015). Initial fruit set ranged from 5.6 to 44.4%, and the final fruit set from 2.6 to 23.36%. The high yield per tree (over 10 kg) was obtained in cultivars ‘Obilnaja’ and ‘Morettini 355’, whereas the low yield (under 5 kg) was obtained in cultivars ‘Strival’, ‘Black Amber’, ‘Early Angeleno’ and ‘Autumn Giant’. The lowest vigor was observed in the cultivar ‘Golden Plum’, and the highest in the cultivar ‘Strival’. The majority of cultivars had a very large fruit (over 50 g). The yield was strongly positively correlated with initial and final fruit set (r = 0.84**; r = 0.92**, respectively). Fruit weight was moderately negatively correlated with initial and final fruit set (r = -0.67*; r = -0.63*, respectively).

AB - The objective of this study was to determine the fruit characteristics of peach and nectarine cultivars in a new training system (Sloping Leader). High-density orchard (2,800 trees ha(-1)) was established by planting vineyard peach seedlings at a 3.5 x 1 m spacing. Grafting was performed at a height of 50 cm. The central leader was bent at the angle of 65 degrees. The standard experimental plot was planted with nursery trees and two training systems: Fusetto (4x2 m) and Open Vase (4x4 m) were applied. The influence of three different training systems on fruit characteristics of three peach cultivars:. Early O'Henry',. Sunprince', and. Autumn Glo', and two nectarine cultivars:. Stark Redgold' and 'Max 7' was studied during the three-year period (20092011). A small tree spacing reduced fruit size of peach cultivars 'Early O'Henry' and 'Sunprince' and nectarine cultivar 'Max 7'. Unlike, in 'Autumn Glo' and. Stark Redgold' differences in fruit size between training systems were not significant.

AB - Morphological characterization of pollen grains is very important in the identification of individual species and cultivars of fruit trees, including quince. As material for these studies, the pollen of eight quince cultivars, Leskovacka, Vranjska, Morava, Pazardzijska, Hemus, Asenica, Portugal, and Triumph was used. During the 3-year study period (2010-2012), using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), the following characteristics were investigated: the size and shape of pollen grains (length, width, and length-to-width ratio), colpus length, colpus width, mesocolpium width, and characteristics of exine pattern [number of ridges per area (100 mu m(2)) at the equatorial region of exine, ridge width, and furrow width]. The tested quince cultivars differed significantly in terms of morphological characteristics of pollen. The exceptions were colpus and mesocolpium width, as well as the ridge and furrow width on the exine, which showed no statistically significant difference. Pollen grains of quince are characterized by great length (over 53 mu m). The shape of pollen grains varied from prolate (Leskovacka, Vranjska, Morava, Hemus, Asenica, and Triumph) to perprolate (Pazardzijska and Portugal). The exine pattern of all cultivars was striate with longitudinal ridges, which were more parallel in cultivars Vranjska, Hemus, Portugal, and Triumph and less parallel in cultivars Leskovacka, Morava, Pazardzijska, and Asenica. Three groups of similar cultivars are separated on the basis of hierarchical cluster analysis results. Some pollen morphological characteristics, such as the size and shape of pollen grains and colpus length, can be used in the identification of quince cultivars.

AB - The effect of three different temperatures (8, 16 and 24°C) on pollen germination and length of pollen tube in vitro was investigated in four pear cultivars ('Butirra Precoce Morettini', 'Williams', 'Conference' and 'Abate Fetel'). The temperature showed a significant effect on in vitro pollen germination. The highest pollen germination was determined at a temperature of 24°C (53.25%), somewhat lower at 16°C (44.72%) and the lowest at 8°C (23.16%). The temperature effect was significantly more pronounced on the length of pollen tube. Pollen tube length was about three times higher at the temperatures of 16 and 24°C compared to 8°C. The temperature of 8°C was not sufficient for pollen germination and pollen tube growth in pear cultivars. However, temperatures of 16 and 24°C were optimal for pollen germination and pollen tube growth.

The temperature effect was significantly more pronounced on the length of pollen tube. Pollen tube length was about three times higher at the temperatures of 16 and 24°C compared to 8°C. The temperature of 8°C was not sufficient for pollen germination and pollen tube growth in pear cultivars. However, temperatures of 16 and 24°C were optimal for pollen germination and pollen tube growth., U ovom radu ispitivan je uticaj tri različite temperature (8, 16 i 24°C) na klijavost polena i dužinu polenovih cevčica kod četiri sorte kruške (Rana Moretinijeva, Vilijamovka, Konferans i Fetelova).

AB - The evaluation of nine introduced apricot cultivars originating from the United States was carried out in the region of Belgrade over a period of six years (2009-2014). Control cultivar for comparison was 'Hungarian Best'. Introduced cultivars flowered 2-5 days before the control, while their harvest occurred 3-17 days earlier than in the control cultivar. Compared to the control, significantly higher yield was achieved in 'Orangered', 'Tomcot' and 'Goldrich', while significantly higher fruit weight was found in 'Goldrich', 'Robada' and 'NJA-55'. Introduced cultivars had lower content of soluble solids than the control. Cultivars 'Goldrich' and 'Orangered' stood out for both fruit appearance and quality. Of the cultivars studied, the following can be recommended for growing in Belgrade region: 'Goldrich', 'Orangered' and 'Tomcot'.

AB - Morphological properties of fruit bearing shoots: length, number of flower buds and vegetative buds and their ratio were studied in 11 cultivars of European plum and 11 cultivars of Japanese plum during a two-year period. Fruit bearing shoots were divided into two groups: long (shoots) and short (spurs). For all studied traits, statistically significant differences between plum cultivars were found. Japanese plums had lesser thickness and shorter internodes of shoots in relation to European plums. They also had a significantly higher number of flower buds both on shoots and spurs. Based on obtained results, recommendations for pruning can be made. Cultivars with a higher number of flower buds per 1-m length and in relation to vegetative buds, like most varieties of Japanese plum and some varieties of European plum ('Stanley', 'Topper', 'Top', 'Topking'), require severe pruning. On the other hand, cultivars with lower density of flower buds, such as 'Čačanska rana' and 'Golden Plum', can be pruned slightly.
