AB - The objective of this experiment was to evaluate the effects of simultaneous using heat-treated corn grain as basic energy source and heat treated whole soybeans as protein source, in diet for calves 60-120 days old. The main predicted effects were improved energy and nutrients utilization efficiency and production performances of calves at this age. Thirty-six weaned Holstein calves were used, there were three treatments using different concentrates, formulated as: concentrate with micronized corn grain and extruded whole soybeans (KTT); concentrate with non-treated corn grain and soybean meal (KTN); concentrate with non-treated corn grain and extruded whole soybeans (KS). The marked effects of simultaneous use of heat-treated corn grain and whole soybeans were determined for feed efficiency (feed conversion ratio, FCR was 6,2% higher for calves on KTT than on KTN and 4,3% higher than on KS treatment). Efficiency of energy utilization (MJ ME/kg of gain) was better for calves on diet with KTT concentrate (5.8 % and 5.3% lower efficiency of metabolic energy utilization for KTN and KS treatment respectively). Consumed crude protein was better utilized for growth by calves on KTT diets, than other two treatments (10.8 % more CP/kg of growth for KTN, and 7.5% more for KS).

AB - Problems associated with the lucerne silage use in dairy cows feeding. These problems are the increased solubility and degradability of proteins. With processed such as wilting, fermentation stimulation with carbohydrate additives and direct acidification the process of protheolysis is limited. The result is high quality feed which is excellent and cheap protein source in the dairy cow diets, with necessary energy feed supplements.

AB - In this review paper the presentation of most important micro mineral sources in the nutrition of the economically most important species and categories of domestic animals is given. Their physiological functions and concentration in domestic feeds and possible sources is explained. Within the treatise the choice of the most suitable sources of microelements was explained while special attention was given to organically bonded microelements. The presented results show that the use of microelements bonded with polysaccharides has equally good effects as microelements bonded with amino acids or short peptides (chelates). They also have positive effects on milk production, decrease of somatic cells, better reproduction performances spermatogenesis in male breeding animals and stimulate the immune system of the animal.
Oni imaju pozitivan uticaj na produkciju mleka, smanjenje broja somatskih ćelija, poboljšanje rezultata reprodukcije životinja, spermatogenezu muških priplodnih grla i podstiču imunološke sposobnosti životinja.

AB - The influence of Pleurotus ostreatus enzymes on wheat straw degradation was investigated in laboratory conditions. Chopped and pressure-pasteurized straw with 24% dry matter was seeded with mushroom mycelium. Analyses of the straw were done on day 15, 30, 45, 60, 90 and 120 after seeding. The mushroom collection was done four times. After seeding, NDF decreased from 824 to 485 g kg(-1), ADF from 561 to 412 g kg(-1). A similar tendency was found for hemicellulose and cellulose, while it was not so pronounced for lignin. Ash content increased from 62.6 to 97.8 g kg(-1). Degradation rates calculated for individual constituents of cell wall components were: hemicellulose 0.902, lignin 0.450, NDF 0.402, cellulose 0.290 and ADF 0.276% day(-1). The obtained results show that a substantial part of straw dry matter was degraded by the mushroom enzymes. The effects were most notable for cell-wall components which allowed successful use of the straw as a substrate for mushroom growth. It was assumed that spent Pleurotus compost may be used as a part of the cattle diet. That was investigated in a feeding trial where compost formed 0% (Control), 10% (Group I) and 17% (Group II) of dietary dry matter. It was found that animals would not consume mixed ration with more than 17% DM from compost. The decrease in daily gain was observed with the increase of compost level in the diet. Average daily gains were 1150, 1140 and 990 g day(-1) respectively. Animals in Group II had significantly lower gain compared with Control and Group I (P lt 0.01). The utilization of dry matter per kg of gain had a tendency to decrease with the increased amount of compost in the diet.
