Effects of using heat treated cereal grains in calf nutrition

AB  - The importance of heat processed cereal grains in the rations for young cattle is presented in the paper. It is stressed that heat-treated feeds have favorable effects in nutrition of calves due to the improvement in their production performances, first of all by increasing utilization of efficiency and digestibility of energy and some nutrients. That way, through the increase of available energy ruminal fermentation processes are intensified ruminal microbial synthesis increased enhanced flow of ruminal microbial protein to the duodenum, and post-ruminal starch digestibility. Improvement in organic matter digestibility of the diet and feed to gain ratio (increased efficiency of energy and some nutrients utilization), provide high daily gains in spite of possible slight decreases of dry matter intake (especially in high concentrate rations). This is important especially for young animals that are intensively growing, and have increased needs in energy and nutrients.
AB  - U radu je razmatran značaj termičke obrade žitarica i njihovog uključivanja u obroke za podmladak goveda. Ukazano je na efekat korišćenja termički tretiranih hraniva u ishrani podmlatka goveda u pogledu poboljšanja njihovih proizvodnih performansi, pre svega kroz poboljšanje iskoristivosti i usvojivosti pojedinih hranljivih materija i energije. Ovim putem se kroz povećanje sadržaja lako dostupne energije u obroku, postiže pre svega intenziviranje procesa fermentacije i mikrobijalne sinteze u buragu, povećava se dotok mikrobijalnog proteina u duodenum, kao i postruminalna svarljivost skroba. Na ovaj način se i pored eventualnog smanjenja dnevnog konzumiranja suve materije obroka (a što je naročito izraženo u visokokoncentrovanim obrocima), usled veće svarljivosti ukupne organske materije obroka, i bolje konverzije hrane (efikasnijeg iskorišćavanja energije i hranljivih materija) obezbeđuju visoki dnevni prirasti. Ovo je posebno značajno za mlada grla koja intenzivno rastu, i koja imaju izražene potrebe u energiji i pojedinim hranljivim materijama.

AB  - In this paper a summary of domestic results was given about the use of additives based on zeolite in ensiling. Those additives decrease silage contamination with mycotoxins, adsorb part of the ammonia produced and intensify lactic acid fermentation. The positive influence of additives based on zeolite is occurring when material with large quantities of fermentable sugars is used, while its efficiency in lucerne ensiling depends on usage of high doses of zeolite.
AB  - U radu je dat pregled domaćih rezultata u vezi korišćenja dodataka na bazi zeolita pri siliranju. Ovakvi dodaci smanjuju kontaminiranost silirane hrane mikotoksinima, adsorbuju deo nagrađenog amonijaka i intenziviraju mlečnokiselinsko vrenje. Pozitivan uticaj dodataka na bazi zeolita ispoljava se pri siliranju materijala sa velikom količinom fermentabilnih šećera, dok je njegova efikasnost pri siliranju lucerke uslovljena korišćenjem znatno većih doza.

AB  - This paper gives the overview of the trend of production of conserved feeds in the world, chemical composition of silages from domestic investigations and summary of works that covered the field of different silage usage, single or combined, in cow rations. It is stressed that combining silages made from legumes and maize has many advantages, also the necessity to correct the nutritive value of these rations with other feeds and concentrates.
AB  - U radu je prikazan trend proizvodnje konzervisane kabaste hrane u svetu hemijski sastav silaža iz domaćih eksperimenata, kao i pregled radova koji se odnose na korišćenje različitih vrsta silaža, pojedinačno ili u kombinaciji u obrocima za krave. Ukazano je na višestruku prednost kombinovanja silaže leguminoza i kukuruzne silaže, kao i neophodnost korigovanja hranljive vrednosti takvih obroka drugim hranivima ili koncentratima.

Contemporary aspects in assessment of protein needs in dairy cows

AB  - The aim of meeting protein needs in dairy cows is to provide sufficient degradable proteins, which are optimally used in the rumen, to provide the required level of productivity with a minimal amount of crude protein in the diet. The new concept, shown in this paper, which expresses protein value as metabolic, enables better protein balancing in dairy cows than before. The nutritive value of metabolic protein in dairy cows depends on essential amino acid composition of protein and their contribution to total essential amino acids. The improvement of protein utilization efficiency has practical implications. The reason for this is to decrease feeding costs per kilogram of milk or milk protein, the need for more efficient production, higher milk protein yield and to allow other nutrients in the diet to prove their influence on the increase of production.
AB  - Cilj podmirenja potreba u proteinima kod krava je da se obezbede dovoljne količine razgradivih proteina, koji se u buragu optimalno iskorišćavaju, odnosno da obezbedi željenu produktivnost sa najmanjom količinom sirovih proteina u obroku. Novi koncept, prikazan u ovome radu, koji izražava protein kao metabolički, omogućuje bolje balansiranje obroka za muzne krave nego što je to ranije bio slučaj. Nutritivna vrednost metaboličkog proteina kod mlečnih krava zavisi od sastava esencijalnih amino-kiselina i njihovog doprinosa ukupnim esencijalnim amino-kiselinama. Unapređenje efikasnosti iskorišćavanja proteina i azota, zajedno sa težnjom ka optimalnoj produktivnosti, stvar je od praktičnog značaja. Razlog za ovo je smanjenje troškova ishrane po kilogramu mleka ili proizvedenog proteina mleka, potreba za efikasnijom proizvodnjom i većim prinosom proteina mleka, kao i stvaranje prostora u obroku ostalim hranljivim materijama da ispolje svoj uticaj na povećanje proizvodnje.

New possibilities for preservation of essential milk components

AB  - Milk yield and content of main milk components are dominantly genetically determined characteristics. This fact must be considered while searching for possibilities for improving milk yield, dry matter, fat and protein. The effect of nutrition on milk yield and content of milk components is very significant. Cows with the genetic potential for production over 6 000 kg of milk in lactation show even more significant impact of this effect. Such genetic potential creates new requirements in nutrition of cows; increased feedstuff quality, inclusion of feedstuff rich in energy and protein addition of minerals, vitamins and other supplements if necessary. Application of proper herd management and working processes on the farm modern technological and technical milking solutions, housing conditions of the cows, also have effect on the milk yield and content of some milk components, mainly dry matter, fat, and partially protein. Usage of cottonseed in nutrition of cows, in amount of 1,5 kg/day contribute to the enhancement of milk production, dry matter, fat and protein in milk. For this reason, especially in nutrition of highyielding cows, use of cottonseed is justified.The limiting factor for use of cottonseed can be disorder of cereal and oilseed meal or cottonseed price parity. Use of minerals with buffer characteristics, based on natural raw minerals, with various and complementary physical and chemical characteristics, has a positive effect on enhancement of milk production, dry matter and fat content in milk. Protein content is slightly changed. Therefore, buffer supplementation especially in stressing conditions of nutrition of highyielding cows, can be fully justified.
AB  - U radu se analiziraju faktori koji mogu da utiču na promenu sadržaja važnijih sastojaka mleka i prezentiraju najnoviji rezultati istraživanja o mogućnostima njihovog očuvanja. Posebna pažnja posvećena je, pored genetskih, grupi paragenetskih faktora koji se odnose na normative o potrebama grla u hranljivim materijama, kvalitetu i osobinama pojedinih hraniva i dodataka obrocima. Skrenuta je pažnja i na značaj primene odgovarajuće tehnike hranjenja krava. Izneseni su rezultati prema kojima dodatak 1,5 kg zrna pamuka u obrok krava, odnosno 3–4% mineralne predsmeše (na bazi bentonita, organozeolita, sode bikarbone i magnezijum oksida) u superkoncentrat za krave (30% ukupnih proteina) utiče na povećanje mlečne masti za 0,1–0,2 procenat poena uz adekvatno povećanje sadržaja suve materije i neznatno povećanje sadržaja proteina u mleku.

Such genetic potential creates new requirements in nutrition of cows; increased feedstuff quality, inclusion of feedstuff rich in energy and protein addition of minerals, vitamins and other supplements if necessary. Application of proper herd management and working processes on the farm modern technological and technical milking solutions, housing conditions of the cows, also have effect on the milk yield and content of some milk components, mainly dry matter, fat, and partially protein. Usage of cottonseed in nutrition of cows, in amount of 1,5 kg/day contribute to the enhancement of milk production, dry matter, fat and protein in milk. For this reason, especially in nutrition of highyielding cows, use of cottonseed is justified.The limiting factor for use of cottonseed can be disorder of cereal and oilseed meal or cottonseed price parity. Use of minerals with buffer characteristics, based on natural raw minerals, with various and complementary physical and chemical characteristics, has a positive effect on enhancement of milk production, dry matter and fat content in milk. Protein content is slightly changed. Therefore, buffer supplementation especially in stressing conditions of nutrition of highyielding cows, can be fully justified., U radu se analiziraju faktori koji mogu da utiču na promenu sadržaja važnijih sastojaka mleka i prezentiraju najnoviji rezultati istraživanja o mogućnostima njihovog očuvanja. Posebna pažnja posvećena je, pored genetskih, grupi paragenetskih faktora koji se odnose na normative o potrebama grla u hranljivim materijama, kvalitetu i osobinama pojedinih hraniva i dodataka obrocima. Skrenuta je pažnja i na značaj primene odgovarajuće tehnike hranjenja krava. Izneseni su rezultati prema kojima dodatak 1,5 kg zrna pamuka u obrok krava, odnosno 3–4% mineralne predsmeše (na bazi bentonita, organozeolita, sode bikarbone i magnezijum oksida) u superkoncentrat za krave (30% ukupnih proteina) utiče na povećanje mlečne masti za 0,1–0,2 procenat poena uz adekvatno povećanje sadržaja suve materije i neznatno povećanje sadržaja proteina u mleku.",

AB  - The results of the investigation of cottonseed utilization efficiency in lactating cows nutrition are presented in this paper. Experiment was conducted on 20 cows (divided in two groups) in Holstein breed type. Rations contained similar amount of energy and protein. Dry matter content of control group ration composed of alfalfa, wheat straw, concentrate, brewers' grains and soybean meal was 32,37:3,87:14,84:9,89:34,03 i 4,13% respectively. The experimental group was fed with ration where 2,2 kg of concentrate dry matter was replaced with 1,84 kg of cottonseed and 0,36 kg of soybean meal dry matter. Protein percent in dry matter was 16,53 and 16,92%, and energy 6,54 and 6,66 MJ NEL/kg. Cottonseed addition had positive effects on milk (29,47:31,05 kg) and 4% FCM production (26,55:29,51 kg) milk fat content increased from 3,34 to 3,67%, and protein from 2,80 to 2,95 % (p>0.05). Dry matter intake per kg of produced milk in experimental group was lower by 6,66%, and 11,90 % for fat corrected milk, which reduced rate of nutrition costs in milk price by 4,48 percentage points.
AB  - U radu su prikazani rezultati istraživanja efikasnosti korišćenja zrna pamuka u ishrani krava u laktaciji. Istraživanje je izvedeno na dvadeset krava (podeljenih u dve grupe po 10) crno bele rase u tipu holštajna. Obroci su sadržavali približno istovetnu količinu energije i proteina. Kontrolna grupa hranjena je obrokom u kojem je udeo SM iz zelene lucerke, pšenične slame koncentrata, sirovog pivskog tropa i sojine sačme iznosio 32,37:3,87:14,84:9,89:34,03 i 4,13%. U obroku II grupe krava 2,2 kg SM iz koncentrata bilo je zamenjeno sa 1,84 kg SM iz zrna pamuka, i 0,36 kg SM iz sačma soje. Udeo proteina u SM ispitivanih obroka iznosio je 16,53 i 16,92% a energije 6,54 i 6,66 NEL/kg. Uključivanje zrna pamuka u obrok krava pozitivno je uticalo na produkciju namuženog (29,47:31,05 kg) i na mast (4% mm) korigovanog mleka (26,55:29,51 kg), i povećanje masti, sa 3,34 na 3,67%, odnosno, proteina, sa 2,80 na 2,95 % (p>0.05). Utrošak suve materije obroka za kg mleka u krava koje su dobijale pamuk bio je manji za 6,66,% za namuženo odnosno 11,90 % za mast korigovano mleko, što se odrazilo na smanjeno učešće troškova ishrane u ceni mleka, za 4,48 procenat poena.

AB  - The goal of this paper is to present the new recommendations for calf feeding, published by National Research Council (2001) as the seventh revised edition. In the new edition requirements for some nutrients, and values of energy content for maintance and growth in calves fed milk and milk repalcer are corrected. Protein requirements for calves weighing up to 100 kg, are defined more accurately. Corrections and amendments of some previously undefined questions and problems in calf nutrition in new edition are made, regarding the new knowledge and research results.
AB  - U ovom radu predstavljeni su novi normativi za ishranu teladi koje je publikovao National Research Council 2001. godine, kao sedmo dopunjeno izdanje. Novo izdanje donosi korekcije u potrebama pojedinih hranljivih materija, vrednosti sadržaja neto energije za održanje uzdržnih potreba i prirast kod teladi hranjen mlekom ili zamenom za mleko, i preciznije su definisane potrebe u proteinima za telad do 100 kg telesne mase u odnosu na izdanje iz 1989. godine. U novom izdanju izvršene su ispravke i dopune nedorečenih pitanja i problema u ishrani teladi, a u skladu sa novim saznanjima i rezultatima.

AB  - The influence of dietary cation-anion balance (dietary cation-anion difference, DCAD) on production performances of cows in lactation, and also the influence of DCAD on some metabolic disorders, especially milk fever (parturient hypocalcemia), are presented in the paper. The possibility of manipulating DCAD is considered, with the purpose of increasing production results and decreasing costs of production, as terminate aims. The concept of DCAD is defined, and the ways of its calculations. The review of numerous studies is presented, which especially considers a possibility of DCAD regulating, first of all by additioning cationic, or anionic salts (depending on stage of production cycle) and to manage acid-base status of cow's organism in this way. Particular attention is devoted to the DCAD importance in lactating cows rations.
AB  - U radu je razmatran uticaj bilansa katjona i anjona u obroku (BKAO katjonsko-anjonska razlika u obroku) mlečnih krava, kako u periodu laktacije, tako i u periodu 3-4 nedelje pred partus, na proizvodne performanse krava, kao i na pojavu određenih metaboličkih poremećaja konkretno mlečne groznice (porođajne hipokalcemije). Razmatrana je mogućnost manipulisanja, odnosno regulisanja BKAO, a sa konačnim ciljem poboljšanja proizvodnih rezultata i smanjenja troškova proizvodnje. Definisan je pojam katjonsko-anjonske razlike u obroku, i načini njegovog izračunavanja. Dat je i pregled vise studija koje se bave mogućnošću regulisanja BKAO i to dodavanjem u obrok katjonskih, odnosno anjonskih soli (zavisno od faze proizvodnog ciklusa), i na taj način uticati na acido-bazni status organizma krave. Posebna pažnja je posvećena značaju BKAO u obrocima koji se koriste u ishrani krava u laktaciji.

AB  - The trial was conducted on three groups of Frisian calves to investigate the usefulness of milk replacers. Experiment lasted 30 days. The control group received full-fat milk, the first experimental group received domestic milk replacer and the second experimental group received imported milk replacer. All groups were fed ad lib with concentrate mixture with 18% crude protein lucerne hay and water. During the experimental period the biggest growth and the best feed conversion ratio was achieved in the calves in control group which received cow's milk. Calves that received domestic milk replaced had intermediate result while the calves that received imported milk replacer had the lowest performances.
AB  - Ispitivanje efikasnosti korišćenja zamena za mleko u ishrani teladi, u tečnom periodu ishrane (0-60 dana uzrasta), izvedeno je na 30 teladi crno-bele rase, u tipu holštajna, podeljenih u tri grupe po 10 grla. Kontrolna grupa (K) je napajana punomasnim mlekom, prva ogledna grupa (A) zamenom za mleko domaće proizvodnje a druga ogledna grupa (B) zamenom iz uvoza. Koncentracija suve materije u zamenama za mleko iznosila je 12,5% i davana je teladima u količini od 6 lit/dan. Sve tri grupe dobijale su po volji koncentrat (17% ukupnih proteina), seno lucerke i vodu. U periodu napajanja, najveći dnevni prirast (547g) ostvarila su telad K grupe, koji je za 112g ili 25,75% bio veći od prirasta A grupe (435g) a za 124g ili 29,31% od prirasta B grupe (423g). Utvrđene razlike u prirastu bile su statistički značajne (p lt 0.05) Iskorišćavanje hrane bilo je najbolje u teladi napajane kravljim mlekom. Telad napajana domaćom zamenom za mleko imala su intermedijarnu vrednost iskorišćavanja hrane (između K i B grupe teladi).

abstract = "The trial was conducted on three groups of Frisian calves to investigate the usefulness of milk replacers. Experiment lasted 30 days. The control group received full-fat milk, the first experimental group received domestic milk replacer and the second experimental group received imported milk replacer. All groups were fed ad lib with concentrate mixture with 18% crude protein lucerne hay and water. During the experimental period the biggest growth and the best feed conversion ratio was achieved in the calves in control group which received cow's milk. Calves that received domestic milk replaced had intermediate result while the calves that received imported milk replacer had the lowest performances., Ispitivanje efikasnosti korišćenja zamena za mleko u ishrani teladi, u tečnom periodu ishrane (0-60 dana uzrasta), izvedeno je na 30 teladi crno-bele rase, u tipu holštajna, podeljenih u tri grupe po 10 grla. Kontrolna grupa (K) je napajana punomasnim mlekom, prva ogledna grupa (A) zamenom za mleko domaće proizvodnje a druga ogledna grupa (B) zamenom iz uvoza. Koncentracija suve materije u zamenama za mleko iznosila je 12,5% i davana je teladima u količini od 6 lit/dan. Sve tri grupe dobijale su po volji koncentrat (17% ukupnih proteina), seno lucerke i vodu. U periodu napajanja, najveći dnevni prirast (547g) ostvarila su telad K grupe, koji je za 112g ili 25,75% bio veći od prirasta A grupe (435g) a za 124g ili 29,31% od prirasta B grupe (423g). Utvrđene razlike u prirastu bile su statistički značajne (p lt 0.05) Iskorišćavanje hrane bilo je najbolje u teladi napajane kravljim mlekom. Telad napajana domaćom zamenom za mleko imala su intermedijarnu vrednost iskorišćavanja hrane (između K i B grupe teladi).",
