AB  - This paper outlines effects of the usage of metallurgical slag from a steel factory in Smederevo, Republic of Serbia (owned by U.S. Steel), through vegetative experiments, performed in semi-controlled conditions on two types of acid soils (lessivated cambisol and pseudogley). Chemical properties of soils as well as chemical composition and yield of the planted barley were studied. The aim of experiments was to compare the effect of metallurgical slag with other lime materials (ground limestone and hydrated lime) in combination without and with standard fertilizers (organics and minerals). The research was conducted in order to define elementary parameters for wide-spread usage of this secondary raw material in amelioration and fertilization of acid soils, widely spread in Republic of Serbia. All the lime materials - neutralizers of soil acidity, along with metallurgical slag, showed positive effects both on increase of barley yield and its elemental composition, and also chemical properties of experimental acid soils.

The nitrate content in lettuce leaves depending on the type and the application rate of nitrogen fertilizers

AB  - Mineral fertilisers, nitrogen ones in particular, have been increasingly used to help achieving high and stable yields of cultivated plants. In terms of the soil nitrogen supply, nitrogen fertilizers have positive effects on yields, but they are often applied inappropriately and at an excessive rate, adversely affecting the nitrate accumulation in the soil and, hence, inducing an increased uptake by the plant. Lettuce is a nitrophilous vegetable that has a pronounced tendency to uptake nitrates. Therefore, the objective of this study was to determine the effect of different types and application rates of nitrogen fertilizers on the lettuce yield and the nitrate accumulation in lettuce leaves. The trials were established at Trbušani, Čačak, in high greenhouses without additional heating on vertisol during the growing seasons of 2007 and 2008. The trial involved the Dutch lettuce cultivar Sportivo and two types of nitrogen fertilisers, KAN and Urea, at rates of 50, 100 and 200 kg N ha-1. The highest yield was produced by the KAN treatment at a nitrogen rate of 200 kg ha-1, and the lowest in the control treatment. The nitrate content in lettuce leaves showed a tendency to increase with the increasing nitrogen application rate. The content was lower under the Urea treatment than under KAN. The lowest nitrate content was found in the control (196 mg kg-1), whereas the highest was obtained at the highest rate of the KAN application (12,684 mg kg-1), followed by the highest rate of Urea (9,464 mg kg-1). .
AB  - U cilju postizanja visokih i stabilnih prinosa gajenih biljaka sve se više primenjuju mineralna đubriva, posebno azotna. Sa aspekta obezbeđenja zemljišta ovim hranivom upotreba azotnih đubriva ima pozitivan efekat, ali se veoma često nestručno primenjuju visoke doze ovih đubriva što se negativno odražava na akumulaciju nitrata u zemljištima, a time i povećano usvajanje od strane biljaka. Salata je jedna od povrtarskih vrsta koja pripada grupi nitrofilnog povrća i koja ima izraženu sklonost ka usvajanju nitrata, tako da je cilj ovih istraživanja bio da se utvrdi u kojoj meri različite vrste i doze azotnih đubriva utiču na postizanje visokih prinosa, ali i akumulaciju nitrata u listu salate. Ogledi su postavljeni u mestu Trbušani kod Čačka, u visokim plastenicima bez dopunskog zagrevanja, na zemljištu tipa smonica, tokom vegetacionih sezona 2007. i 2008. godine. U ogledu je korišćena holandska sorta salate sportivo, a primenjene su dve vrste azotnog đubriva KAN i urea, u dozama od 50, 100 i 200 kg N/ha. Najveći prinos ostvaren je primenom KAN sa dozom azota od 200 kg/ha, a najniži na kontrolnoj varijanti. Sadržaj nitrata u listu salate je pokazivao tendenciju porasta sa rastućim dozama azota, pri čemu je niži sadržaj nitrata utvrđen pri đubrenju sa ureom u odnosu na KAN. AB  - In this paper were analyzed data from domestic production, import, turnover and quality control of mineral fertilizers in Serbia before and after 1990. The aim of analyze was to find reason and consequence of inadequate use of fertilizers for plant nutrition over the last years. According to this data average use of fertilize on our land (less than 80kg/ ha, active NPK matter), which is three times less then in other agricultural countries and third of use in Serbia before 1990, it can be conclude why production of many cultivated grass especially cereal grains is on low profitability range. In addition to increasing prices of fertilizers and unpromising position of agricultural producers, more reasons of reduction fertilizers use are: demagnification domestic production, import, turnover and very often unsuitable quality for our real requirement.
AB  - U radu su analizirani podaci o domaćoj proizvodnji, uvozu, prometu i kontroli kvaliteta mineralnih đubriva u Srbiji pre i nakon 1990. godine, a sve u cilju tumačenja razloga i posledica njihove nedovoljne upotrebe u ishrani gajenih biljaka poslednjih godina. Prema tim podacima, sa prosečnom upotrebom đubriva na našim obradivim poljoprivrednim površinama (ispod 80 kg/ha, aktivne NPK materije), koja je za oko tri puta niža nego u razvijeno poljoprivrednim zemljama i oko 1/3 u odnosu na period pre 1990. godine u Srbiji ,može se zaključiti zašto su prinosi mnogih gajenih kultura, posebno žitarica, na donjoj granici rentabilnosti. Pored povećanja cena đubriva i nezavidnog ekonomskog položaja naših poljoprivrednih proizvođača, razlozi za ovakvo smanjenje upotrebe đubriva je i činjenica što je domaća proizvodnja istih drastično smanjena, a uvoz, promet pa i često kvalitet neusaglašen i neadekvatan našim stvarnim potrebama.

Chemical composition of hay from natural meadows on Zlatibor in relation to soil composition

AB  - The contents of: mineral matter, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium and magnesium in plants from natural meadows and pastures on Zlatibor have been analyzed. The content of analyzed plant's quality parameters greatly differ in relation to previous fertilization and utilization: mineral matter= 6 15 %; N= 0.5-4.1%; P2O5=0.25-0.80%; K2O=0.7-60%; Ca=0.12-0.83% and Mg=0.14-0.90%. The highest content of analyzed elements were determined on the locations there high amounts of manure have been applied, following with mineral fertilizers and the lowest ones were determined on pasture without any fertilization what-so-ever. The content obtained of essential microelements (Zn, Cu and Co) is below their optimal levels, Mn and B is within optimal, while Fe is above optimum. The content of harmful heavy metals: Ni and Cr is higher in the majority of analyzed samples, compared with their normal amounts for high-quality fodder and its under influence of their content in the soil, as well as under influence of presence and distribution of some plant species in the hay mixture.
AB  - U radu je proučavan sadržaj: mineralnih materija, azota, fosfora, kalijuma magnezijuma i mikroelemenata, biogenih (Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, Co i B) i štetnih (Cr, Pb, Ni i Cd) u senu trava devet lokacija prirodnih livada i pašnjaka na području Zlatibora. U isto vreme proučavan je i hemijski sastav sedam najzastupljenijih biljnih vrsti na istim lokacijama, radi definisanja njihove specifičnosti u akumulaciji nekih biogenih i štetnih elemenata. Rezultati ovih istraživanja, zbog specifičnosti akumulacije pojedinih elemenata u zastupljenim travnim vrstama (deficiti posebno N, K, Ca i povećanje količine Fe, Cr i Ni) mogu da ukažu na buduće pravce unapređenja proizvodnje kvalitetnije kabaste stočne hrane na ovim i sličnim zemljištima (humusno-silikatna zemljišta na serpentinu).

AB  - The purpose of this paper was to determine the effect of long-term application of mineral and organic fertilizers (beef manure and cornstalks) on some important agrochemical properties of a calcareous chernozem soil. For this purpose soil samples were taken from an experimental field of the Maize Research Institute in Belgrade. There were six variants in the experiment and one of them was the control, i.e. variant without application of mineral and organic fertilizers. Basic agrochemical properties of the investigated soil samples were determined by standard methods of soil chemical analysis. Application of fertilizers did not cause statistically significant changes in soil pH, calcium carbonate content and C/N ratio. However, the content of humus and total nitrogen increased significantly in all variants where organic fertilizers had been applied. Contents of available phosphorus and potassium increased in all fertilized variants.
AB  - Cilj ovoga rada je bio da utvrdi uticaj višegodišnje upotrebe mineralnih i organskih đubriva (goveđi stajnjak i kukuruzovina) na važnija agrohemijska svojstva karbonatnog čemozema. U tu svrhu uzeti su uzorci zemljišta sa jednog poljskog ogleda Instituta za kukuruz u Zemun Polju. Inače, ogled je postavljen 1971. godine sa kukuruzom u monokulturi. U ogledu je bilo 5 đubrenih varijanti i jedna neđubrena varijanta (kontrola). Agrohemijska svojstva prikupljenih uzoraka su određena primenom standardnih metoda za ispitivanje zemljišta. Na osnovu dobijenih rezultata može se zaključiti sledeće. Nisu utvrđene statistički značajne razlike između đubrenih varijanti ogleda i kontrole u pogledu vrednosti za pH (u vodi i 1M KCl), sadržaj kalcijum-karbonata i C/N odnos. Međutim, što se tiče ostalih agrohemijskih osobina zemljišta tu je situacija dosta drugačija. Značajno povećanje sadržaja humusa i ukupnog azota je utvrđeno kod svih varijanti gde su primenjena organska đubriva. Slična je situacija i sa sadržajem pristupačnog fosfora i kalijuma u zemljištu, s tim što je sadržaj pristupačnog fosfora značajno povećan i kod varijante gde su primenjena samo mineralna đubriva. Utvrđene su statistički značajne razlike između dva sloja zemljišta u pogledu sadržaja pristupačnog fosfora i kalijuma. Sadržaj ova dva hranljiva elementa je veći u sloju zemljišta od 0-20 cm u odnosu na sloj od 20-40 cm.

AB  - The purpose of this investigation was to determine the effect of long-term application of mineral and organic fertilizers (farmyard manure and cornstalks) on the content of zinc and lead in a calcareous chernozem soil. For this purpose soil samples were taken from an experimental field of the Maize Research Institute in Belgrade. Total and available (DTPA-extractable) zinc and lead were determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometry, after necessary preparations of soil samples for the analysis. Total zinc content did not change significantly under the influence of applied fertilizers. However, the content of available zinc increased significantly in the experimental variants where organic fertilizers had been applied. It was found that fertilization did not have significant effect on the content of total and DTPA-extractable lead.
AB  - Cilj ovoga rada je bio utvrđivanje uticaja višegodišnje primene mineralnih i organskih đubriva (stajnjak i kukuruzovina) na sadržaj cinka i olova u karbonatnom černozemu. U tu svrhu uzeti su uzorci zemljišta sa jednog poljskog ogleda Instituta za kukuruz u Zemun Polju. Sadržaji ukupnog i pristupačnog cinka i olova su određeni metodom atomske apsorpcione spektrofotometrije posle odgovarajuće pripreme zemljišnog materijala za analizu. Sadržaj ukupnog cinka se nije značajno promenio pod uticajem primenjenih đubriva. Međutim, sadržaj pristupačnog cinka se značajno povećao u svim varijantama ogleda gde je primenjeno stajsko đubrivo. Inače, ovo povećanje pristupačnog cinka se uočava do dubine od 80 cm. Utvrđeno je da višegodišnja primena đubriva nije imala značajnog uticaja na sadržaj ukupnog i pristupačnog olova.
