AB - The aim of this study was to evaluate the thinning efficacy of metamitron applied either alone (single or double application) or in combination with 6-benzyladenine (BA) or naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) in ‘Red Jonaprince’ and ‘Golden Delicious’ apple trees. The experiment was carried out during the 2014 (third growing season) at the commercial orchard located on mountain Fruska Gora, Serbia. Application of chemical thinners was carried out at two fruit diameter stages (‘Red Jonaprince’ 9-11 and 16-18 mm and ‘Golden Delicious’ 8-10 and 14-16 mm). Number of fruit and yield tree-1, fruit size distribution, parameters of fruit ripeness and return bloom were assessed. In both studied cultivars all metamitron treatments effectively reduced number of fruit tree-1 compared to the control treatment, regardless of fruit diameter stages at the moment of its application. Moreover, application of metamitron when the fruit diameter was 16-18 mm influenced overthinning in ‘Red Jonaprince’, especially when it was combined with BA and NAA. These treatments significantly decreased yield tree-1 compared to the control treatment. All metamitron treatments in both tested cultivars resulted in a significant mean fruit weight increase accompanied with increased share of large fruits in total yield in ‘Golden Delicious’. The metamitron treatments with BA and NAA significantly increased flowering intensity for the next year in both tested cultivars. Similar effect was noticed in ‘Golden Delicious’ when metamitron was applied as alone thinner in the same time. The thinning effect of metamitron treatments on TSS as fruit maturity parameters were only observed in ‘Golden Delicious’.

AB - The paper presents the results of leaf temperature measurements in a raspberries orchard, recorded by a thermal imaging camera. The raspberry orchard was planted in spring 2014, while the experiment was set up in spring 2015, i.e., the first yielding year. The orchard is located in the south-western part of Republic of Serbia (Ivanjica region). This mountain region is characterized by limited water resources. During the experiment, three irrigation treatments were applied: deficit irrigation (N), deficit irrigation with hay mulch (NM), and rain-fed condition (NN). Leaf temperature was measured with a FLIR T335 thermal camera, six times during harvesting. In total 30 measurements were carried out on plants of each treatment and the average leaf temperatures calculated. In the N and NM treatments, soil water content was continuously measured by TDR sensors. Weather data were automatically recorded near the experimental field. Results indicated that plants in the NN treatment were warmest, followed by those in the N treatment. Leaf temperatures for plants of the NN treatment were mostly higher than air temperature, while in the N and NM treatments higher values were only observed in one of the six measurements. However, soil moisture contents reflected the trend observed for leaf temperature. Soil moisture content in the NM treatment was the closest to field capacity, while that in NN treatment was close to the wilting point. According to the presented results, mulch has a positive impact on irrigation water saving, which is very important for this region. Difference in air and leaf temperature vs. vapour pressure deficit was linearly related. Average CWSI for N, NM and NN treatments indicated clear differences between treatments.

AB - The quantitative microstructural analysis and the sieve analysis of copper powder as well as the scanning electron microscopy analysis of the copper powders particles were performed. It was found that the structure of the copper powder particles determines the apparent density of copper powder. The powder particles from the same fractions of different powders occupy approximately the same volume, but the structure of metallic copper is very different. This causes the difference in apparent densities of copper powder obtained under different conditions. The more dendritic is the structure of powder particles the smaller is the apparent density of copper powder.
