AB  - Possibilities of the application of the cluster analysis in selection of potato were analyzed in this paper. Experiments were conducted in a contemporary net house of the Potato Research Center at Guča during two years, 1999 and 2000. The population of 150 genotypes obtained after crosses between two Dutch varieties (Cosmos and Van Gogh) was used as a material for investigations. Values of six traits (leaf number per plant, total leaf area of plant, mean leaf area, chlorophyll content in leaves, yield index and tuber yield per plant) were measured in F1 seedlings. The hierachical cluster analysis was applied for the estimation of phenotipic diversity among seedlings. Seedlings were grouped in four clusters (A, B, C and D). The smallest cluster A contained two superior genotypes with the highest values of investigated traits. The tuber yield of clones from A-seedlings (507,07 g) overcame a mean tuber yield in the population of clones (144,27) about 3.5 times. The cluster analysis was proved to be a useful method for estimating selection values of F1 seedlings in early selection of potato. .
AB  - Oplemenjivači biljaka odabiraju superiorne genotipove iz jedne generacije za zasnivanje naredne generacije na osnovu ocene fenotipskih vrednosti većeg broja poželjnih osobina. Pri odabiranju se javlja problem zato što biljke za neke poželjne osobine imaju dobre fenotipske vrednosti, a za druge imaju loše. Broj biljaka i sastav genotipova u odabranoj grupi sa kojom se nastavlja rad često zavisi od subjektivnog pristupa oplemenjivača. Međutim, oplemenjivačima stoji na raspolaganju klaster analiza koja omogućava objektivno grupisanje biljaka po vrednostima većeg broja osobina. U ovom radu postavljena je hipoteza da primena klaster analize omogućava oplemenjivačima izdvajanje grupe superiornih genotipova po željenim osobinama koje treba odabrati za dalji rad, kao i grupe slabih genotipova koje treba odbaciti. Za formiranje grupa genotipova po vrednostima šest poželjnih osobina korišćena je populacija F1 sejanaca krompira, a provera hipoteze izvršena u njihovom klonskom potomstvu na osnovu prinosa krtola. Utvrđeno je da su se sejanci krompira razdvojili u četiri klastera (A, B, C i D) čija su klonska potomstva imala vrlo različit prinos krtola. Da su potomstva različitih grupa imala sličan prinos krota, hipoteza bi bila odbačena. Zaključeno je da primena klaster analize pomaže oplemenjivačima da odaberu superiorne genotipove po željenim osobinama i da odrede kvantitet materijala koji ima vrednost za selekciju. .

AB  - The influence of two reproductive pathways: sexual reproduction and vegetative propagation. on the phenotypic values of F1 potato hybrids was analyzed. Population of 150 genotypes obtained after crossing of two Dutch varieties (Cosmos and Van Gogh) was investigated. Investigations were conducted in contemporary net house of Potato Research Center at Guta during two years. Seedlings were investigated in the first year while clones were investigated in the second year. Values of three studied traits (leaf number per plant, total leaf area of plant and tuber yield per plant) differed significantly between F1 seedling and clones. Phenotypic values of the other three studied traits (single leaf area, chlorophyll content in leaves and harvest index) were similar between F1 seedling and clones. It was concluded reproductive pathway had the great influence on some phenotype characteristics of F1 potato hybrids. Surprisely. reproductive pathway had no influence on the relationships between six studied traits. The values of simple correlation coefficients among all six traits were similar in seedlings and clones.

AB  - U radu su analizirani efekti direktne selekcije (na prinos krtola) i indirektne selekcije (na broj listova po biljci, ukupnu površinu listova biljke i sadržaj hlorofila u listu) u F1 generaciji hibridnih sejanaca krompira. Ispitivanja su obavljena u savremenom mrežarniku Centra za krompir u Guči tokom dve godine (1999 i 2000). Kao materijal za istraživanje korišćena je populacija od 150 genotipova dobijenih ukrštanjem dve holandske sorte: Cosmos i Van Gogh. Direktna selekcija F1 sejanaca pokazala se kao najuspešniji postupak za dobijanje rodnih klonova. Od ispitivanih oblika indirektne selekcije najbolje rezultate daje odabiranje superiornih genotipova na ukupnu površinu listova biljke.

AB  - Correlations among six quantitative traits (leaf number per plant, single leaf area, total leaf area of plant, chlorophyll content in leaves, tuber yield per plant and harvest index) were analyzed in F1 hybrid seedlings and clones of potato. Investigations were conducted in contemporary net house of Potato Research Center at Guča. The population of 150 genotypes was obtained after crossing of two Dutch varieties (Cosmos and Van Gogh). According to results, tuber yield was strongly correlated with total leaf area and harvest index in both, F1 seedlings and clones. Within population of seedlings and within population of clones correlation coefficients among all studied traits were highly similar. Early selection of superior hybrid seedlings presents useful tool in potato breeding.
AB  - U radu su analizirani odnosi između šest kvantitativnih osobina (broj listova po biljci, prosečna površina lista, ukupna površina listova biljke, prosečan sadržaj hlorofila u lisnom tkivu, prinos krtola po biljci i žetveni indeks) kod F1 hibridnih sejanaca i klonova krompira. Ispitivanja su obavljena u savremenom mrežarniku Centra za krompir u Guči. Kao materijal za istraživanje korišćena je populacija od 150 genotipova dobijenih ukrštanjem dve holandske sorte: Cosmos i Van Gogh. Utvrđeno je da se prinos krtola F1 sejanaca i klonova krompira nalazi u najjačoj korelativnoj vezi sa ukupnom površinom listova i žetvenim indeksom. Koeficijenti korelacije između osobina unutar populacije sejanaca i unutar populacije njihovih klonova nisu se bitnije razlikovali. Zaključeno je da selekciju superiornih genotipova treba započeti u populaciji sejanaca krompira.
