Evaluation of some diploid plum cultivars in the region of Belgrade
Abstract
The evaluation of 15 diploid plum cultivars (mostly Prunus cerasifera hybrids) originating from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, and Bulgaria was carried out in the region of Belgrade over a period of four years (2011-2014). The time of flowering of studied cultivars was early, at the end of March and the first decade of April. Most cultivars are characterized by the early time of maturation (the last week of June or the first week of July). With the exception of the ‘Crvena Afska’, all other cultivars had high productivity (scores 4.0-4.8 on a 0-5 scale). Fruit weight ranged from 18.9 g in ‘Kolonovidnaja’ to 40.3 g in ‘Sonejka’. Stones were relatively small (0.74-1.47 g), and their share in the total fruit weight was 2.2-5.1%. The content of soluble solids ranged from 10.5-19.5%, while the content of titratable acids varied from 0.84-2.17%. Most of the studied cultivars are suitable for fruit processing, especially ‘Krimska Zholtaya’, ‘Soneyka’, and ‘Mara’. Some cultivars, such as ‘Dezertnay...a’, ‘Obilnaya’, ‘Lama’, and ‘Naidyona’ can also be used for fresh consumption.
