Mite pests in floriculture practice in greenhouses (III)
Štetne grinje u proizvodnji cvetnih kultura u zatvorenom prostoru (III)
Apstrakt
Tarsonemid mites are very small, ranging in length from 0.1 to 0.3 mm. Species of tarsonemids that are known to feed on higher plants are restricted to three genera. Feeding appendages are quite suitable for penetrating thin/walled mycelial strands and highly succulent tissues. Toxin injected during feeding cause alteration of normal tissue ontogeny in the host plant. In this article general morphological and bioecological characteristics of tarsonemid mites are stressed. Host, distribution, main diagnostic features, life span, symptoms, damage and control measures of cyclamen mite, Phytonemus pallidus. .
