Biological properties of mid-season apricot cultivars in the region of Belgrade
Biološke osobine srednje poznih sorti kajsije u beogradskom području
Abstract
Properties of 14 mid-season apricot cultivars in the region of Belgrade during the period of 1995 - 2003, in comparison with the control cultivars Hungarian Best were studied. The average blooming time of investigated cultivars is the third decade of March, and ripening time is the first half of July, i.e. 0-6 days after cv Hungarian Best. The average yield during the study was lowest in cv Alfred - 9.4 kg per tree, and the highest in cv Szegedi Mammut - 22.6 kg per tree. Fruit weight ranged from 44g (Gonci Magyar Kajszi) to 66 g (Ligeti Orijs). The contents of soluble solids, total sugars and total acids ranged from 15.5 to 18.4%, 10.8 - 12.2% and 0,6 - 1.4% respectively. Generally, the best results were shown by cvs Ligeti Orijs and Kostjuzenskiy, which distinguish themselves for high cropping and good fruit quality. On the basis of the majority of evaluated parameters, cvs Alfred, Festivalna, Dr Mascle and Nadežda are behind the standard, whereas the other cultivars are approximatel...y at the same level as Hungarian Best.
