The effect of indole - 3- acetic acid (IAA) on the productivity of the above mass of lily (Lilium sp.)

Abstract

Lilium sp. is a very popular species for cut flowers. In order to achieve as much quality flowers as possible in the production various methods and procedures are applied. One of the ways to get as high quality plants and flowers is to use the plant growth regulator. Previous researches on the application of plant growth regulators in the production of bulbs flower species indicates their positive effect which is reflected in the improvement of morphological and productive characteristics. The effect of different concentrations of indole-3-acetic acid on lily bulbs and time of their treatment before planting, on the production of above mass in two Asiatic lily hybrids was investigated. The obtained results indicate the concentration of IAA on lily bulbs have a greater influence on the above ground mass compared to time of their treatment.
