The dependence of leaf area size and dry matter of bean on plant density

The effect of crop density on the leaf area and the dry weight growth per bean plant was examined in the agro-ecological conditions of northern Sumadija (Serbia) during the period 1993 - 1995. Small plot field trials were conducted using a split-plot design in four replicates. The soil type was brown forest soil. On the basis of the results that were obtained, it can be concluded that the crop density affects the leaf area and the dry weight. The differences were statistically significant. The dry weight and the leaf area per plant during the bean vegetation season were positively correlated.
